Empuriabrava Xmas boogie.. Demos available ?
mccordia replied to piisfish's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Drive up to Castellon at the end of the week...(27th or so) We should have some spare S3/S6 etc there you could try... PM me if you're interested.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I think (no matter what sport or dicipline) you'll always have these kind of people. I've seen people with ratings that couldnt fly next to a student if they wanted to...but in the end...the ratings do help sorting out the 'bad apples'. And can (if everybody finaly tries to see we're all after the same thing..'safe instruction') make everything a lot better... Why fight someone over trying to make a sport (and our dicipline especialy) safer..? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Side subject, but free bikes? Thats your little secret I guess.. Dont know what have you been smoking...but it probably going to get a few years for that where you live Almost every single American that comes here heads straight for Amsterdam and into the coffeeshops..says enough.. And high taxes? its relative to your income..in the end, everybody here benefits..and a good healthcare system which (unlike the US) doesnt force people on a DZ to collect money to pay for someones hospital bill when something happens.. Only tax problem I have is with the stuff planes run on..20 euro jump tickets are a bitch compared to the US prices, and Id glady visit your wonderfull country for that.. We have way, way Waaaaaaaay fewer incidents with guns, less problems with people and drug addictions..we must be doing something right.. And we can show boobies on TV..so we win anyways! Nipplegate..hehehegh..you guys are funny But enough bitching about Holland..lets bitch about the BMI program again(or start a thread in the bonfire) p.s. Do want a free bike..let me know where to get them JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Wing Suit Instructor Ratings: Split from Z-Flock Thank You
mccordia replied to Buried's topic in Wing Suit Flying
More of a personal issue... 4. If you're teaching someone to fly wingsuits without a rating, and something goes wrong, and the family sues you (its still the USA) you're probably in a load of trouble, as you didnt have the correct ratings to be teaching that person.. Wouldnt the tubes best be mounted on your body? As the head and feet can move around more? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

One serious question I had...(imagine!) I know lift is greatly debated, but how much performance comes from the actual surface generating lift? I used to think it was most of the flying performance was derived from the lift the sui/wings gave us, but with the single layered tony suit supposedly performing close to what people are getting on 'mid-end-performance' suits, and the newer bigger suits also supposedly performing better. There still isnt any real data to back up those claims, but with more and more people flying those suits, we'll hopefully have some more on that soon.. But in your oppinion, is most performance to be gained in wing shape/design and reduction of drag (its what I thought, and you judging your posts as well) or does it all boil down to 'who can stitck the most fabric onto a person and still have him survive'? Id be interested to hear peoples thoughts on this... (see, no pony!) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

FlyLikeBrick News: New Video Flight Manual/Summer 07 Events
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
New FlyLikeBrick.com updates: - We added a new video flight manual on docking, which can be seen and/or downloaded here The video is aimed at beginning flyers/flockers (like most of our videos) - updated our agenda with several .EU boogies in 2007 - Added new info to our pre-AN72 boogie page, which can be seen here If you have any questions about flying, hotels etc., drop us a line, and we will ad it to the webpage, and help you out where possible. - Within one or two days, there should also be an update to the gallery. With several beautifull sunset photos, that costyn shot of Tristan and me in the skies over Schaffen (Belgium) - We're almost off to Spain for 10 days of jumping, but if I manage to finish up before thursday, I will also upload a big new video from the Pink Skyvan boogie in Zell Am Zee, Ostria - Costyn also fixed the guestbook And if you see them, give a big 'Hello' to S-Flying Alex (FLB teammember #3) and Karin, who are now roaming US dropzones for a month! because...(which is what I ment) Asking this question to 50 people, you'll get 50 different answers..all meaning nothing, as it usualy is severely biased by what the reviewer is flying himself.. Since youve set your eyes on a firebird. it is a great allround suit. You'll love flying it. Its how much you fly it when you get that will determine if its an allround suit for you personaly.. This is for ALL you Idiots who CAN"T READ I ASKED BEST ALL AROUND WINGSUIT ALL AROUND ALL AROUND LOL Maybe thats a hint to all idiots who dont know how to use the 'search' button....? There's TONS of reviews on this site...complete books could be filled about who likes what suit better and which one is the more all round suit... It depends on your body size/weight, skill, style of flying... Read the forum..check what everyone has to say about suits and form your own oppinion.. And maybe....(weird suggestion coming up).....try FLYING them? You can demo just about any suit.. Go to a major US dropzone, and there should be reps of just about any brand there, having every possible demo you could wish for... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Because a poll trully showing all currently available (and past) wingsuits would run into 50+ names... And you'd still only get a rough cross-section on what the 50 or so people in here fly...all thinking we have superb knowledge of what is best and what everyone out there should be flying.. And that one is always just a matter of taste and personal preference then a true 100% honest comparison between suits based on data..... So dont loose too much sleep on this one and just post a silly oneliner about a pony.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Those are big words coming from the person who posted multiple times about his problems filling up his wingsuit in the crotch area kris? http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=72250; JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Also...what 'best' are we looking for? Because in some respect I can see the Classic being 'the best' as it was the suit that really introduced wingsuits to the skydiving scene as a real dicipline to a broader audience and started the whole scene we're part of today.... Even though some of the latest suits are improvements, and fly a few % better with every new design..the classic is what started it all.. (only looking at 'commercial' suits now..not at the pioneering work done by Patrick Deug etc.) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

With the UK prices compared to the belgian prices, we'll get 3 jumps for every 2 you guys make.. And you're already on 'the mainland' so you dont have to take expensive planes or ferries to cochstedt.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Proper arm position maybe the reason? Several people flying V1/V2s complained about it around here, thats why I asked... Ive seen people use some really akward arm and body positions trying to fly their suits. We're always trying to assist in heloing them see what they could change to improve flying wise. So any tips on this subject would be great.. We noticed that in your video's, the arm wing is always perfect. One smooth shape. While with a lot of flyers, there is a clear line. Cut across the wing. like a fold. Is that whats causing their armwing to be 'heavy to fly'? And maybe also tipping them headlow a bit to much (having trouble staying up with slower formations) Its seen a little in this picture But its more pronounced with some of the people I've seen. Does it require more pushing down on the wing, or pulling grippers outward to create a smooth wingshape there? It would be great of (body position-wise) you'd have some tips and pointers on that subject? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Because the boogie also wasnt that wel known within the EU, many people only went for the last 3 or 4 days last year (as did we) The atmosphere, plane, location and the people that where there made everyone plan to come for the entire week next year... Its going to be huge...and you'll be feeling baaaaaaad if you miss this one.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I tend to think the larger grippers at the end of the wing tend to ad a lot of drag. Like holding a small flag in each hand. It causes larger arm pressure, and makes for few people that can fly the suit maxed out for an entire skydive. Looking at aircraft wings, the tip of the wing does quite little and seems to actualy ad drag, generated by the vortexes that rolll/bleed off the side. Having seen a few pics of weird experiments in wingsuits with winglets at the tip of the wing (probably scary as sh*t at pulltime). How much of the long grippers is actualy affective/working wing area? But wingtips etc. aside...isnt there still anyone jumping the M-1 that actualy has some true data on what the suit can do? I'd gladly buy into the whole 7:1 thing, but if those numbers can be posted here, surely there must be GPS plots that support those numbers..? I gladly believe its an incredible suit, with amazing performance. But so far the claims (2.5 times better performance then other top of the line suits from other manifactures) seem more like marketing hype then anything supported by facts or data? *edit for bad zpelling* JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The fact that you take everything as an attack on the motives behind the current war the US has got going says more about you, then it does about someone signing his posts with a 20+ year old quote from a movie... People getting upset and screaming at other people (for the wrong reasons) is what starts wars.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
