Almost looks like he would have been better off landing without anything deployed. Doesnt seem like the canopy has taken any speed out of the freefall/flight yet... probably as close as you can get to actualy landing a wingsuit without a canopy... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

From the BASE forum this thread *snip* See http://www.leisuresportsphoto.com- the people who do the Bridge Day photos every year - in the 9 to 10 am landings section, page 5 of 7 *snip* Seeing those photos, and how much (little) canopy is overhead during his landing, I would say this is about as close as you can come to landing a wingsuit, and living to talk about it... Some of the photos (most noticably 'Empuria Brava', 'Scheveningen' and 'Rotterdam') have been colour-corrected, which helps to take the image away from the look the standard kit-lens tends to give. Also hoping to buy a digital stills-cam sometime this winter, so I can snap some shots of Costyn as well.. Got to try his and david's a few times...cant wait to get one myself and start learning to take snazzy pictures too... (heads back to water his money-tree....hmm...still not growing...) Costyn uses an EOS 350D with the standard lens. Mad kung-fu skills do the rest Love the pics he took of Tristan and me above the water-cleaning facility at Rotterdam last weekend! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I just added some pictures to the gallery (Rotterdam 01/02) and sorted the folders according to date... More pics coming in a bit! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Would be awesome to see some POV video from these jumps.. Awesome to see them involved in actual suit design and research Hans Holmefjord, Ingar Strand where the ones BM sponsored. Hans seems to have switched to PF. Cant wait to see what these guys will bring to the table designwise! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Ground to air video, but with an air to air view Amazing footage...love that swoop past the camera from the guy in yellow... Watched this way too many times already....incredible.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

With the webbed hands being a little bit of an issue with handles for some people ...wouldnt this potentialy make the lower pulls in a BASE enviroment a little more dangerous (then it already is?) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Johan..look at your profile, knowing what a skillless hack you are.. Especialy YOU should know that profiles dont mean anything... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Thats also what I heard Tristan mention about flying his new V2..(which actualy manages to make his butt-ugly rig look cool, due to the matching colours) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

That is a 7 to 1 glide ratio . You probably are stating two distinct facts. Think so too...it doesnt state if he's talking about 1 jump, or two seperate jump, and if its an avg. over a whole jump or just a moment/peak-reading. 19 mph vertical...if its sustained you're talking about....I'd love to meet the flyer (Jack Skelington might be his name) I've seen 21 mph vertical for a few seconds flairing out after a good dive..but 19 mph sustained?? I think the forward speed is doable for a lot of people in high-end suits, but the vertical speed (seeing Loic, James, Tristan etc. get around to 39/40 mph in the previous contests in russia and germany) is quite impossible to imagine....that 5 minutes of freefall from 12k? But maybe he was wearing them hiking boots I've been hearing lots of good things about JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

As mentioned earlyer, the orginal skyflyer1 can easely be modified by a capable rigger, who for 50 bucks or so, stitch two extra cells in the legwing. Bassie (a belgian jumper) did this, and basicaly turned his S1 into an S3 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I was thinking of naming it the S-whore (as I've seen this suit on soo many people already) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I've just checked with 2 other guys that own a HC1E, bought here in Holland, and both downconvert to DV through firewire. The only difference with the A1E and HC1E they noticed is that the HC1E only has one 'convert to DV' option (widescreen DV) whereas the A1E allows you to choose between widescreen (16:9) widescreen (as a 4:3 signal, black bars included in the signal) or cropped (4:3) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

A newer HC1E I recently used also had both HDV and normal DV output. Dont know if its a HC1E that was bought/ordered outside europe, or if its a newer issue of the HC1E... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Googling his name, he seems to be a rope-jumping/bungee instructor, who has been involved with base(crane) events in the UK. maybe he doesnt base, but just wanted to give his view on the people he's dealing with in these event-demo's (jumping from his crane?) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Sorry man.....first working on getting the skills to be able to fly what you want you buy...what an incredibly stupid advice....what was I thinking... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
There wil always be one person that proves you wrong...and in case of base and a spinning (or even just offheading) opening...that could be a fatality...Why get rid of a working, proven system of cutaway cables? All it takes is a little piece of fabric/sweater, stuck between your zipper, and no matter what space-age-technology, the zipper wil jam.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
-
If you have infinite trust in zippers not breaking, I could see a hook-up system like the S-Fly, with no rigging cables at all.. But when the cutaway system is rigged like the S-Fly (which can be troublesome to get into, if you're not carefull you can pull it out when putting on the suit) I believe most BASE-ers do use it (as in that case, it is quicker to pull the one toggle-release on your chest, instead of unzipping 2 zippers) Having seen quite a few suits (mostly Matter) that suck up handles, with the non-adjustable rigging 'holes', I personaly prefer the cable rigging system. As it means the suit will always be adjustable to a perfect fit, no matter what length the rig or user is. People I've heard giving flatspin briefings lately did mention cuting away the wing, but only as a last, last, last 'probably wont help, but do it if you think it will help you, do so' procedure... But 'balling up' seems to be the only good working solution. Havent heard of any stories that seem to indicate otherwise... the legwing seems to be the cause of the spin, taking out the armwings doesnt sound like a logical solution to the problem.. Very true, even more so for those already flying wingsuits. Just buy a V2, and you'll be fine.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

I think many people focus too much on the performance they'll think they'll be getting from a tracksuit...but they dont realise that the suit only adds to what they put in with their own skills. I've seen people spend A LOT of money getting tracking-gear. And doing speeds and distances that most skilled flyers can get wearing shorts.. If you're only using it as a training-tool for wingsuit flying...forget about the trackingsuit, and work on your own flying skills..a normal trackingdive is just like a wingsuitjump. Just shorter freefall and distance...if you cant make 6 docks in one jump, do big carves around a formation towards your slot, high speed dives from the airplane getting out last, and knowing how backfly without a trackingsuit...then you sure wont be able to do any of those if you get one... PF & BM make incredible tracking-gear...that can make you do insane things if you have the skills......but for some people using it in skydiving, its only freeflying in a very expensive plastic jacket... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I know it was all flying nicely...and a bunch of the most incredible jumps I've ever made... But imagine the tight formations that could be built, if you would take the 15 to 20 best flyers that where at the boogie, and focussed on flying tight formations with just those people. No stray birds all over the sky in the back... I know a lot of people are against this..not wanting to exclude people from jumps...but the bigger and more challenging these jumps get...the less 10 to 20 flight 'wonders' should be in the middle of that...?
