Skydive Texel - Queensday Boogie/28-30 April
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
update: From the look of things, it seems like the 1 on 1 coaching is also completely free (with the DZ paying out slot). Use it and abuse it JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Its not the pop-up that people didnt understand..it was out-popping which made some people raise an eyebrow.. More popping here JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Aside from the movie 'cherrie poppins' I once downloaded, I also never really heard anyone use this term.. We usualy just call it upfloating or lifting..just like the other diciplines call it? And I believe there are different ways of doing so. You can go to full flight to win those few meters, but you can also do a massive push to get back up to someones level by pulling a wingsuit in a near stall. Transforming all forward speed to lift for a few seconds, and just as you would start falling out of the sky, continue flying. The second method is the one used most often in my experience, as it enables you to gain a few meters, without overshooting the student due to more forward speed.. But tons of different suits, peoples never have the same weight or build, and theres more then one way to fly... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Only mod your rig if you're experiencing PROBLEMS on opening.. No sense in cutting and hacking into a perfectly good rig if your openings are fine as they are.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I dont think costyn ever took his stills-camera up, except for the one FJC student who asked (wim) Costyn and I spent most of the day doing 1 on 1 jumps, while alex coached and organised the rest of the group (with costyn and me joing in later) We never jumped the whole group at once.. The group got split into a couple of 2 way, 4 ways and a few 'slighly bigger-ways' The experience level wasnt that high, so most focus was on learning to fly towards a slot safely...and although we never really made any big formations, I think everyone learnt some new things that weekend. And that was the goal.. The video is nearly done, if you want to see the in-air stuff :) And "after wingsuit CRW"?? (ask gadget about that one) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Way cool video! When I had only just started jumping a few years back, one of their skywalkers team videos (from headdown.net) was almost my first introduction to freeflying.. Must have watched that over a gazillion times back then! Cool to see those guys still going at it (with no chance in hell of me ever catching up skill-wise) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Nice one... I dont know many flyers who fly like Ronald with only a few wingsuit jump under their belt :) It was a good weekend! http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~fxcordia/photo/2007_archive/mc_flyby.jpg JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think the stability depends on what the student/person does to pull in his legs.. Some only pull their legs up and arch (pic left - pos.jpg)...others (not doing what they'e been briefed) de-arch and drop the knees..(pic right - pos.jpg) . Both methods work fine for stopping your forward motion. But depending on what you do with your legs, its smooth and stable, or you're riding a small burble, which can wobble a bit.. Opening in full track is possible, and done quite a lot. Though in the beginning, a different technique (slowing down) is usualy tought.. Dont worry about it too much...its all stuff thats covered in full detail when you get the instruction when you try out your 1st wingsuit jump. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I understand the need to have your Italian flyers take the spotlight. But from a media standpoint..how interesting is it when you have a competition where the other flyers are not allowed to really compete? Making a double competition.. worldclass - italian class (both with 1/2/3 place) will be most more interesting AND raise attendence from flyers from other countries.. And imagine you (or any other italian guy or girl) also winning the world-class? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Skydive Texel - Queensday Boogie/28-30 April
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Boogie Time Skydive Texel is proud to host the Queensday boogie. 30 April is a national holiday, where the birthday of our Dutch queen is celebrated. So for 3 long days, Skydive Texel will be your local party centre, with 2 Cessna Grand Caravans and plenty of Altitude (13K), good parties and (ofcourse!) also 'a bit' of drinking. Whats there to do? Wingsuit jumps! We've been asked to do the wingsuit load organising and (for those interested) we're also offering 1 on 1 coaching. All jumps will have outside video, and will be briefed and debriefed in an always fun, and constructive way! Depending on the number of people, we'll keep the groups small, so we can focus on everyones individual wishes! Cool simple dives, aimed at building skills for the lesser experienced. And challenging technical dives with more dynamic flying of multiple points for the skilled flyers.. And at the last day of the boogie, we put it all together in a bigger flock! First Flights We'll also be bringing our trusty fleet of beginners suits, and will give a (free) first flight course at the end of the first day, with the actual jumps taking place first thing in the morning the next day. If you have special needs in terms of suit size, let us know in advance so we can arrange a suit for you. So..whats Texel like For those who havent been there before, take a look at this video from 2 years ago. The view is unbeatable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mupbLSge48g The dropzone has teamrooms, a huge landing area (with beer-line), and next to the jumping a bunch of the coolest people from all over Holland and Belgium gathered in one place. There's a nice bar/hotel nearby, with cheep skydiver-rates. How do I get there? For those living on the mainland its easy. Just drive to Den Helder (slighly above Amsterdam) and from their, its only a short boatride to the island. If driving is not doable, book a cheep flight to Amsterdam Intl Airport/Schiphol through one of the many budget airlines (easyjet etc) and from there its 40 minutes or so in the train, and onto the boat and to the island! Sounds hot..count me in! If you think..hey...that sounds like my kinda thing! Join us! Drop us a line at flylikebrick#gmail.com so we can ad your name to the list (for the organisers) And in just over a month or so, we'll see you there! All the best, and dont forget to smile! I think the fact that it happened is whats most disturbing.. When someone hits you on the skull with that speed, I think the only difference the AAD is going to make is that it leaves less of a mess on the ground. But a lethal outcome would definately seem possible by the initial impact alone.. Was it someone going into full brakes (or even reversing on the flight path) to catch up with the base/formation he/she oversped? Glad everyone is ok..could have been ugly..
