Should Gay Purple Mike be in charge of 3.5?
mccordia replied to Capricorn1's topic in Wing Suit Flying
The size of makes gaping...ehm...no..Flock and Dock 3.5 the event is held twice a year...the 1.0 versions are oriented on bigways. the 0.5 versions more on technical flying... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Should Gay Purple Mike be in charge of 3.5?

Which is: Dock on cutaway cable>pull JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Having seen mike nearly break through bulletproof glass, seperating him and a few nice looking...ehm..working ladies in Amsterdam with his heavy breating and acid drool..the word 'gay' is the last thing that comes to mind when thinking of him.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Schaffen it is.. And Bavo is flying his new suit...your new suit come in already? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

While the prodigy is definately better on first-timers menatly (they are much more at rest knowing they can reach risers etc on opening) the need to hold grippers and the legwing/legs that can easely overpower the armwings (when those are not held correctly during flight or at pulltime) definately make for quicker headlow dives then on other comparable beginner suits.. I still prefer using a classic for first flights.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Zwartberg has the Dutch Swoop tour, doing a lot of low hop&pops. So for the sake of altitude (and landing in front of the hangar) we choose Schaffen.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

ps. If flocking is what you prefer, nothing prevents you from joining up with some folks to form some nice 3/4/5 ways ofcourse..as I suspect quite a few wouldnt mind ending the day with something bigger then a 2way.. But we're going to stick with the skills-oriented 2 ways.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

We're only there for one day, so you just have to pray you choose wisely..(or come with us) We're going to try and hook everyone thats not in a team up with someone of equal experience, and a cameraflyer so we get some good 2 way practice in. And then try and do some joint debriefs if there is nice video, and see what points can be worked on/improved.. So no bigways..no formations...just tight flying..practicing docks and close relative flight...(and ofcourse, only practice the things you want to do..) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think that tips it a little bit towards Anal? And do these rules mean anything to a skydiver with 400 jumps flying a 'big suit' that visits a French wingsuit boogie?? Not really an issue for me, but I could see some people planning trips to Gap, and being in for a huge surprise when they're not allowed to fly their own suit? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Its not all that difficult... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

We're organising a small get-together in belgium this weekend to practice for the wingsuitcompetition. If you're up for some cool flying, join in and we'll hook you up with some nice people to fly. We so far have three 'teams' present, and could definately use some extra people... We're not holding any competition..its training..watching and helping eachother..definately join if you can! Hmm..great idea...someone should make a suit for that and market it! Solid gold! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

- you travel distances horizontaly (adds complications) - added steps to reserve procedure (either before or after, depending on malfunction and action undertaken - severely larger input from your limbs due to wings (flatspin potential etc) - smaller fov/coa. etc etc to speak in the words of a starwars muppet fun your suggestion is..but realistic..for it is not.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
-
The cause is unknown.. There are plenty of scenarios where a no-handles-pulled incident could be caused by a wingsuit.. A flatspin (to the point of blackout even) is one of the easiest to think off... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

yea...thats not a good comparison... People on 50 way RW dives and bigway CF dives tend to be much more skilled and in controll of their actions baaad comparison.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Let me finish that scentence for you... who can even when things don't go as planned..accidently or by a another factor then experience backing them up...do the right thing and stay alive.. If somebody REALLY wants to fly a wingsuit...do the requered few (200 is not a lot to anyone serious about their hobby/passion) jumps to have the little tiny bit of experience asked for... Sure it CAN work with less...but its NOT CLEVER..and yes...the instructor who trained that person IS largely responsible for what happens next... If you cant deal with that responsibility when taking up people with TOO LITTLE experience...then dont train people... No...but I reccon you'd rather send up another inexperienced person to find out if it would happen again? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

If someone is an instructor, he or she is so, because he makes sure that people have the prior skill and knowledge, and get the proper training and guidence for doing what they are about to undertake.. Nobody is blaming anyone for anything.. The discussion is here is about rules..and how they where designed with the purpoise of keeping people and the sport safe. People who lack the experience always see it as rules designed to annoy and hinder them... Quite often those rules where written because of someone else making a mistake and paying for it with his/her life... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Come fly with us and we'll prove it is.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Noop...as they are only a rough quide to the experience you HOPE someone COULD have when he reaches that rough guideline... When someone cut corners and did/learned a lot less in those (or more) jumps then he could have...shame...and nice of you to mention those people that have a lot of jumps and suck skillswise...but still...the chances at someone doing better when backed up by more experience are a lot higher... It just doesnt take away the minimum safety requirement...you've proven its possible to cut corners and have the outcome be safe.....but it doesnt always turn out that way... sometimes it works... sometimes it doesnt... if its works..forum=13; if it doesnt work out as planned...forum=14; Also not that the discussion here should NOT be linked to the recent accident. There are still no facts about the actual cause of the accident known. Low experience may be part of the fact-sheet..but has not been determined as the cause of the accident.. My thoughts are with those who have lost a dear friend.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I still firmly believe 200 to 250 jumps is and should be the minimum.. There are always a dozen examples of people who had less and did fine.. But crossing a busy highway running while blindfolded, wil also work fine the first few times (at least with me up to this point) I just think there are a lot of skills in terms of body-posture, controll, flying, awareness and navigation that only develop with 200 full altitude skydives.. No matter what other experience or how 'switched on' people always are thought or claim to be... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
