If yuri wants to contribute on the well ment tutorial videos for beginners we make, why not just send us some actual comments in an email or PM on how to improve the videos (clear and understandable) instead of cheap stabs? But I'll be a good stroopwafel eating clogboy...promise! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Wish I could join as well.. Otherwise hop by in Holland for some stroopwafels and a coke james (I still dont drink beer sadly) We could so some downwind GPS/trackingderby jumping in the storm thats supposedly tearing this country to pieces the coming weekend JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I dont see any relative wind coming from behind, just the force of gravity and the direction your should FEEL it pushing you (as thats easiest to explain to someone new to flying) We decided to focus on showing new flyers in a simple illustration what you are trying to acomplish when going for more forward speed, instead of more stally flights for time. The first page of the video also states, its not about the actual math and whats happening in flight. Its just a description of how it feels. But maybe you where to upset by the incorrect placement of arrows to actually read the text. Its a briefing that works really well in real life, so we figured we'd give it a try in this form. But if you think one of your 25 page explanations with a dozen uncomprehensable mathematical equations will explain it better, feel free to copy our music and submit that one JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think the biggest issue with most of the plans is the amount of people, planning and variables you need/get in just one single jump. As it is, most WS competitions barely have enough contestants to have a proper contest, and already there is talk about different classes/leagues etc. I still believe the biggest key to a succesfull competition format would be to find one that is clean and judgeable without all the variables such as the wind, extra people/airplanes following as 'living cones' etc. Passing battons, flying points, flying formations etc. And though definately wind-dependant, I'd love to see a GPS comp combined with a 2-way+ camera contest. See who can fly the best distance while flying points JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

We have superstorms here in EU at the moment, rain, clouds...its horrible.. Definately envy you guys So with all the practice you guys are getting 7 days a week, I guess you'll all be coming down to Europe to whoop our asses in the wingsuitcompetition next spring? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

What we did (slighly larger plug though) is put one drop on the metal pin you're inserting into the port. Then let that little drop of glue dry first, and when its nearly hardened, insert it into the port. Just 'filling up' the port with glue will most definately f*k it up JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Costyn and I are just always listening to music. Even during the ride up in the plane you can often spot us with our MP3 players (Alejandro is listening to his French lessons, so he's less music oriented) For every minute of music used for a video, we probably listened to 20 hours of music, and we just pick songs based on our own taste from that.... *edited for me zhitty zpelling* JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Ive had succes pulling a broken-off mini-jack out of a friends soundcard by using a drop of superglue on a thick needle we stuck into the hole, against the broken off plug. It took about 2 days to get it out, as it took about 6 attempts, and every time we had to wait for the glue to set/harden.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Can I just stick to the explanation that says fairy-dust makes us fly? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

And the final version is up..enjoy! Direct link to the file for those who dont like embedded viewing download 3,4 mb JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Ill be uploading a slighly tweaked version in a few minutes, as the arrows under the body seem to make more sense pointing the other way (thank you hans) If anyone has any comments, questions or improvements on any of the video learning materials we have on our website, please let us know. If its stuff that can improve the learning, then do help us in making it better! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

We've just added a new video to our website on forward speed. time vs distance would probably have been a good alternative title. If you click here you will be taken to the new video. This subject seemed to be easiest to explain with 3D animation, the next flight manual will have some old-fashioned video in there again for the purists The true die-hard techies will probably disagree with the explanation given, but for us, this seemed like the simplest and most logical explanation for the beginning wingsuit-pilots this video is aimed at JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Which is not lift based on the Bernoulli principle, but lift from 'deflection' based on the Newtonian explanation.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think its the Newtonian explanation Tristan is talking about http://www.funpaperairplanes.com/Learn%20About%20Flight.html If its full on 'lift theory' we're speaking, the single layer suit Tony has wouldnt fly at al? But according to people who have flown (with) it, it flies really well, just a tad heavier on the arms then the suits that have pressurized support in the wing. I tend to be somewhere in the middle. I do believe lift is part of why we 'fly', but seeing how quick the airflow separates the topsurface of the wing, I think it doesn't attribute to the degree a lot of people are claiming... This news is not that new/hot anymore, but I think its another good step forward. With Solid State Memory in more and more applications the focus on development, and eventually getting the price down, means we may start to finaly see more affordable HD(V) camera's, shooting to flash memory. So no moving parts in our camera's anymore...which means smaller/lighter cameras, and possibly more energy efficient as well (changing batteries less often;) Samsung Electronics announced at the Mobile Solution Forum that it has begun offering a 32-Gigabyte NAND flash-based solid state disk (SSD) for mobile computing applications. The 32GB Flash-SSD, which serves the same purpose as a hard disk drive. It uses instantly-accessible, non-moving NAND flash memory instead of the rotating discs found in hard drives; therefore can upload and download data quickly and quietly with minimal power consumption. The Flash-SSD weighs only half as much as a comparably-sized hard drive, but reads data three times faster and writes data 1.5 times faster. For instance, a 1.8" type SDD reads at 57Mbps, while a 1.8" hard disk drive reads at approximately 15Mbps. The SSD uses just five percent of the electricity needed to power a hard disc drive and is noiseless. Its design is free of any motor or other mechanical parts. Samsung showcased its 32 SDD at the CeBIT some days ago. The solid-state disk was demonstrated inside a Samsung laptop computer. The desktop appeared on the screen of the SSD laptop in about 18 seconds while the hard-drive-based computer took about 31 seconds to reach the same point. However, the major hurdle that needs to be overcome before SSD can reach mass market is price. Flash memory costs around $30 per gigabyte; the memory needed for the 32GB SSD drive works out to about $960, before any other costs are taken into account. Samsung thinks there are some military or industrial customers that have specialist applications that would benefit from the SSD and so might be more willing to pay a premium. Prices for flash memory are expected to come down. In May last year, when Samsung first announced the technology, the flash memory price was about $55 per gigabyte. So it might just be a matter of time before such disks hit the mass market. Samsung sees the overall global SSD market surging from US$540 million in 2006 to US$4.5 billion by 2010. The company did not disclose any details about the commercialization of its Flash-SSD in the mass mobile PC market. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Sounds cool... Im in! Mark has some great stories about the openings and pilotchutes entangled with the chute and banner/tube for anyone interested... (see attachment) But thats quite 2 dimensional thinking about the pilon race btw. Some idea's we kicked around resemble the current atmonauti races, Have 2 flyers with smoke, one above the other. Flying at roughly 30 meters distance or so. Then have other flyers upfloat and dive around the smoke. So a pilonrace, in the direction of flight, instead of downward. It would mean climbing and diving a lot...so complicate things, you could make it manditory that all flyers face the smoke at all time with their eyes. So backflying underneath the smoke-trailers..
