Those are all big fat lies!! We all THRIVE on the whuffo's who think we are the coolest people on the planet, and enjoy nothing more then whipping out some skydiving photo's to them to show how incredible we think we are... Q: How do you know there is a skydiver in the room? A: Dont worry...he'll tell you! Too bad they always end up thinking we're strange and suicidal..but thats besides the point JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

First GPS devices are not to be trusted..now fallrate data suddenly is enough.. All we need to determine L/D is some equations from a a guy that wrote the a 20 page essay on his shoes Weee JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

Its all in the equations that can be found in his avatar.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I think most of the Classic I's also had a body made out of parapak (or compare-able type fabric), and looking at those 'old' suits now, its clear wear and tear is not an issue there. Where-as most 'often used' old suits, end up looking more and more like a collection of patches and fixed seems. The 'new' materials are definately the way forward... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Or just do 'any' export, and use the resulting video as a guide on which you rebuild the edit with the orginal footage in premiere. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think most boogies have settled on the same date. There's stuff happening in Belgium, Germany (Cochstedt/Marl), Sweden, France etc all within the same short time frame. And even if boogies don't overlap, just making sure I have the funds to attend all of them, if going to be difficult... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

If the video you deliver for judging is as clear and in line with your own observations, as it was with your 20 mph 'sustained' fallrate, I wouldnt bet on 1st prize just yet and keep practicing.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

We want this competition to be about the humans flying the suit. Not about how big a hook you can attach to a suit to grab other people (complications of someone tied onto your arm at pull-time aside) The result of the competition should be> Wow, those guys flew really well And not> Yea..but they where duc-taped to eachother at the belly and their suit had XXX docking features. A suit with backflying ability, and if needed, leg-grippers are as far as we want to go. A dock should last 1 second, and be visable on video clearly. Im quite tired of the 'definitive' competitions for distance and glide where, the wind, someones weight, hight, shoes, temperature, endurance, lack of sleep, or (depending on how happy each person or manufacturer is with the result) the suit is the reason for winning or loosing. Dont turn it into more of a rigging discipline then it already is..keep it real.. If 2 docks are what you can currently manage in a jump and you want to improve on that..practice more... If RW teams can manage 40 points in 35 second working time, we should be able to get at least a few docks in with our 1,5 to 2,5 minute working time (or 4 minutes, flying 20 mph sustained) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Simple...just stop being so damn lazy and click on the Get Markup Help text, you see directly above your post every single time you post a message here... If everything else fails...read the manual... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Now that looks like a reeeally nice toy.. high framerates and progressive scan..makes me quite happy when it comes to animation/post fx work as well :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

yeah, that would be needed when you are streaking so fast down towards the earth like a comet I only just watched the item a week ago on Discovery channel, but given the quoted 7000 ft exit, and the +- 20 seconds it took for the engines to fire up fully, the 2 minute flight and distance he seemingly got, looked quite impressive to me... It may just be a plaything for now (and media 'achievements' are quite often a seperate things from real achievements and records) but look how far Ives Rossy has come with his 'toy'. For the leg/ankle dock, a gripper (such as the one on an Acro) would be no issue. As long as the dock is made on the leg (preferably bellow the knee) When a clear (1 second) dock is visable near the enkle, its all is good... As for the hands..though we havent specified any details on that yet, I believe a hand/hand dock (skin on skin) would definately be the only way to go. Otherwise its going to evolve into people flying suits with 1 meter poles attached to the arms, or big easy to grab loops etc. If I may make a suit mod. suggestion. Create a little gutter/edge on the lower part of a wingtip-gripper, this allows you to hook your thumb behind it, while outstretching your hand to take/recieve a dock. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The Blade you've seen (as far as I know) was made from the normal zero-p (But may have had some parapak pannels to be a little more heat-resistant) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

We only practiced the first 4 rounds once so far...we hope to finaly get round 5 in for practice this coming weekend. We are going to try and arrive in Spa a few days before the contest, so we can get a few more days of training in. As we're afraid money/weather are not on our side here.. Am I making up excusses for our bad scores ahead of time...or am I bullshitting you, and did we score 11 points on round 1 during the single practice jump we´ve had for that round? The 'really right stuff' just looks like a normal quick release or am I looking at the wrong pictures here? There seem to be quite a few flat quick-releases you can easily tilt and rotate? Though (had not though of that yet) mounting the L bracket on the front, with one of these would of course enable you to also rotate the camera around (portrait/landscape) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The Bonehead L bracket up front still needs tools to get the nut loose and then retightened once its lined up again. Ive managed to track down my old helmet (wasnt in use anymore, and owner willing to part with it) and will be taking the stills-mount appart to see if I can modify it for use on a FTP style helmet. That rrs seems a bit to big/chunky for skydiving (though I may be looking at the wrong mount?) Here is a link to the Heller Mount (top plate and front mount attached) I mentioned http://www.air-action.de/detail04-02-2.htm The front L bracket, rotates 90 degrees with a simple 'click' Its quite old, and they dont seem to make a seperate front/still mount. Quite like the adjustable platform thats standard on the FlatTop Narrow (had not noticed that before) http://www.boneheadcomposites.com/ftnarrow.htm But as a loose mountable bracket. I can make a video of anyone landing, and Ill do it for way less then 2 million...I'll ask (puts pinky in corner of mouth) 1 MILLION DOLLARS! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Yea..I do 'Ghostrider' is the title... http://bird-man.com/video/ghostrider.wmv The guy who made it is supposedly quite awesome and really cool and stuff! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Nice article..seems they took the effort to find other people in the field (Loic, Maria) to give comment/feedback. The one thing that sadnes me when Jeb talks about landing a wingsuit is that time and money seems to be the issue, and not skill and effort. Building runways/catching systems and such, sounds as much as a 'true wingsuit landing', as Felix crossing the channel under a plastic glider-plane sounds like 'unaided human flight' A plane, a wingsuit and a skydiver should be all the ingredients needed... I think Loic..eehm..sorry.."flying dude" (think we should stick to that name from now on) is the one with the most impressive skills/experience portfolio for a stunt like this. Though probably also the one with the most realistic view on doing it, which is why its not something he's done yet JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
