  1. I just edited a short video on some fun I had with a little (low quality) videocamera. I mounted it on several different places (wrist, on my smoke bracket etc) during the wingsuit weekend in Soest and just had a lot of nice shots on the exit, breakoff and canopy-ride. I just turned the shots into a short edit for your viewing pleasure! Enjoy! Check it out out on my YouTube channel! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Very few planes can gain altitude of you take away the engines. Where we have a glide ratio of around 3:1 when flown to the max, airplanes have a glide of about 15:1 (747). What you are describing here is 100% what wingsuit flying is, and what you just havent experienced yet.. Yea...only I call em flashbacks, and I usually have video to watch when Im awake if I want to experience it again... You have nooo idea...jump, jump (fall! fall!) and soon you'll be able to give real flight a try...you'll re-read your words here at the point, and think..'man....if I only Id known...' 3. Shame you cant make it.. And another list (for maybe seeing if some Kiev/Airport transport can be arranged). Maybe list your arrival date with your name (if coming from abroad) so people can see if groups can travel together from airport to...well..airport JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Would be cool to put together a big suit/max flying group that aims for the longest flight, and a speed/distance group, aiming for max time.. Sounds like an awesome boogie so far....hoping I can be there (but agenda filling up more and more with EU events indicates its going to be difficult) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Its the exact opposite...the more weight..the faster you'll fly...glide will be the same, regardless of weight. Its only the speed at which you fly that differs. So the fact that Edo (being light) manages to fly this fast, is just another statement of how wonderfull Robi's design is. Lots of lift, little drag or fabric you dont really need. 6. Dude...nice one.. Thats the one I ment when I typed this a few posts back... Always fun seeing some of the 'classics' again. I think I still have (like a lot of people probably) this one, and many other 'old' wingsuit videos downloaded and burnt onto VCD somewhere in a dusty cabinet somewhere...I used to watch this stuff over and over again (still do actually...) 7. Hmmmm...you mean the stuff the dictionary lists as powered flight haha.. Why would they ad that term 'powered' if 'flight' by itself didnt aready mean that...hehe...deal with it...even though you may chooe not to accept reality and substitute it with your own... Gliding..heck..even tracking or just moving forward is technically flying. Moving forward with control (some more than others at glideratios as high as 3.0...its flying....poorly maybe to your standards...but as close as many of us (and you if you're lucky;)) will ever get to experience...and its a beautifull thing to do... Ad you lurking and trolling here says you secretly also believe so... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Any form of control over your trajectory is technically flying...but there is always someone living his life on the negative end of the spectrum If it doesnt feel like flying....You're just doing it wrong... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. PF just added this video Robert shot to YouTube. Its on Edo from Slovenia making his first wingsuit BASEjump. The screams he makes after exit are awesome and hilarious at the same time... Ooh..and the updated Phantom 2z is quite the speed animal as you can see..small suit, big performance... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. That skysurfing shot they use for their promo looks like a Joe Jennings (super)16mm shot of Troy Hartman... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. Costyn might have some backmounted video on the times he did this one with his lady. And I know there is an old video on skydivingmovies (I think Sweden?) with a guy in a green/silver wingsuit doing some midflight (wingsuit/freefall) hookups. Click here for a video (click Video) of Loic doing some (technically) rodeos, where he rests his feet on the rig/head (and flies it) and does the same standing on the rig with one foot. All fun (and technically more difficult/in controll) variations. And thats just the stuff we know about. My guess is that there is tons of stuff happening everywhere without most of us knowing because it doesnt show up in the micro-universe called DZ.com More videos on who did this before...only important if anybody gives a hoot who 'invented' it. I sure dont Its a fun video..make it about that. First claims are nice for beer in a bar, but pretty useless otherwise JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Its also possible to slide onto someones back, coming in from the front. This means you can sink your legwing onto someones back through the burble, while still flying the armwings. There is some lovely footage of Loic doing something similar on his website. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Nice one...and yea..was going to say that its a thing Ive seen you do/practice with Mirjam more than once as well... But still..cool beans.. We'll slap the video on WWWN later today as well.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Even with proper fit and use, the BASE pouch poses a lot more (and real) dangers to premature openings. For people doing training for BASE jumps, getting used to the pull position/placement for developing muscle memory its an option. But for any further use in a skydiving enviroment, refer to the opening method/placement designed for that use on your rig. Its just a lot more delecate in use, and even with proper rigging/setup can cause unwanted openings endangering pilot, aircraft and fellow jumpers. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Nice one..! Ive also added it to http://news.flylikebrick.com/ in a massive update today! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. A short note to people who make it regular practice to fly their wingsuits in a skydive enviroment with use of the pilot-chute BASE pouch. Rolf Brombach emailed everyone on his mailinglist the following incident: Though Rolf correctly notes the growing lack of proper instruction and adhering to set rules and recomendations, the actual use of the BASE pilotchute pouch isnt really touched on more. Just some points to be aware off. Skydiving pilotchutes tend to be smaller, and thus increase the chance of premature deployments by the pilotchute slipping out. The pilotchute and bridle potentialy dragging over the floor, coming out half/fully and then getting caugh on airplane parts (as above mentioned incident) is a real posibility. DO A GEARCHECK BEFORE EXIT! The location and orientation of the Pouch also make a premature opening on a group jump/exit a real big posibility due to another jumper sliding over/past the pouch (which usualy happens in the same direction/orientation as pulling the pilotchute would). NEVER use the basepouch in anything else but a solo. Pulling from the normal pouch is very possible on even the biggest suits. Though can take a few extra seconds. Just pull a bit higher if flocking if your game, or resort to solo if you are seeking BASE practice. Preferably, dont mix the two and put others at risk by using the BASE pouch on flocking jumps. Look through skydivingmovies and dropzone.com for a spectacular list of premature deployments, all resulting directly from use of the BASE pouch if you need more incentive to become aware of the dangers... 17. As soon as I learn to guess your adress via telepahty, or when you just mail me your adres lik I told you to do 3 weeks ago ;) You lazy biatch ;) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. Heyhey, Just a quick shout. Morpheus received the package of NTSC DVDs (finaly cleared customs) and is shipping them out to all US costumers today (26th of May). So everyone should have a nice package in their mailbox this wednesday/thursday! Hope you all enjoy the DVD and it was worth the long wait! Again, my appologies for the technical issues that caused the delay! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. Here is a short video for one of the jumpers who requested I upload the video to show to his friends. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXU-yDLmkVY Both flyers in the video have less then 10 jumps. Feel free to hate the back and bellyflying both are doing. All (new and experienced) flyers at Soest flew at a marvelous skill/performance level, and it was a joy to shoot on tape. A more complete boogie video coming later (dang I have a lot of editing to do:)) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. haha....Thats the last time I tell you a story/suggestion! But it was good meeting all of you! And great fun flyng with everyone. As a great Austrian actor/bodybuilder once said: Ill be back! Hope we can convince you to also put on a wingsuit and fly with us all weekend. Tandems can wait JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Thanx to all attending folks. Had a great time, we put a bunch of new birdies up in the sky, had great fun flying from the amazingly fast climbing plane, and I got some great shots on tape. Expect a video on this one on our website (after Zflock & Empuria are done:)) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. How about...dont dive down agressivly? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. Or just think for a second..look at the angle of the horizon (plane would have to be diving quite a bit to fly at the same angle), look at the body position, and take a look at the bazzilion other exit shots from wingsuits/airplanes.. Docking on airplanes..Loic.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Judging the angle the plane would have to fly to get there, you'd be navigating in the wing and tail burble...so I say exit pic.. If you want to see plane docking..Loic and the glider are the closest you're gonna get I think.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. Its about having brass balls so big, they lower your center of gravity (making you fly better), and almost scrape the walls your flying past... I dont think there are many people who practice this 'balls to walls' type flying JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
