???? Does this have to do with the post you made about "Wingsuit flying & German laws" ????? From what I got, the powers that be at the DZ/airport didnt appreachiate Denis making any public remarks about the situation, and banned him from the DZ from this point on... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

How will I know when I'm ready to move to a bigger suit?
mccordia replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in Wing Suit Flying
When you see yourself in every flock you're flying in, legs stretched fully and arms all open and flat besides your body. If you're truly flying a small suit 100% and its not enough, you may need to get a bigger suit. Whats the small suit you're flying now (as the definition of 'small' seems to have slid down a bit as well these days) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Whats there to see there, one can not find out by opening a wingsuit (of any brand) to see exactly the same thing? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think opinions vary on that one.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Put on a camerasuit, and you can get long freefalls as well. Focus on flying far, and flying 'long' is something that automaticly increases. Usually focussing on time, tends to make people fly less (like a canopy in breaks) and use the suit more like a camera-suit, and less like a wing.. Numbers/fallrates dont really say a lot about how you're flying...so dont focus too much on that one...enjoy the flying. Play with angles and flares.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The guy did have a normal first flight course/progression on normal sized suits as far as I know, and it wasnt untill later in his jumping he developed pull problems which shifted from iffy, to bad to scary as hell. He isnt jumping a wingsuit anymore (I think most of this footage is half a year or more old) as several people (including himself) deemed it less than recommendable to continue flying at this point. A small bad habbit developed into a huge problem. Maybe due to fear of bad openings. But funny to see people get so upset about this kinda stuff (and rightfully so) with an experienced flyer, and a lot of the bad FFC stuff with people who DONT have the proper experience never makes it online. That aside.. I really dont really know what the camera-flyer/poster (Tim) had as his intentions when he put this one online. I think its not clear enough to function as a lesson (nor what the lesson is isnt clear) and not really anything anyone should brag or show off either....flying inside someones 'deplotment cone' isnt the best of ideas... Its the EXPERIENCED people who dont ask questions that always scare the fu*ck out of me When someone thinks he or she is too cool or experienced to ask the simple questions on things he/she wants to remember/refresh or just have their current knowledge confirmed. Its awesome seeing someone with those jumps numbers and experience actually ask someone for instruction and information.. And if the choice of suit is wise or unwise for his experience level, thats one thats up to the coach/instructor or friend he is jumping with... Without seeing his logbook and hearing his exact WS experience, that's not something Id be willing to judge at this point.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Unlike you, I actually READ the article, and noticed he had done an FFC and initial wingsuit jumps way before he jumped this one. From the article: Though its not the best suit-choice (in size) for a recurrency jump, its also not the worst-case scenario of an FFC in loads of fabric. In general, I prefer suits without grippers for FFCs. Both due to un-obstructed pull, people not clamping grippers with all their strength (and having no power left to pull) and people doing weird grasping things to get their grippers if they loose em (not knowing they are always there, connected to your wrist). And a lot of experienced flyers even use the grippers wrong (pulling on them, instead of just shaping the wing by only pointing them the correct way and allowing the inflation to do the work of keeping the wingshape). Anyways...roll the kettle with the tar and feathers back into your basement... From 200 to 20.000 jumps. Though people usually tend to deal with it a bit better at higher jumpnumbers, sensible choice in suit for an FFC is the same for all. Anyone at any experience level can get in shit with a wingsuit if they try hard enough. A huge suit on your FFC in my book does qualify as 'trying harder' So any reasoning works...but not the one you mention Michal.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Fasted...I can tell you with 100% certainly this person isnt jumping a wingsuit now due to those UNintentional flips and rolls... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Tonfly prices often seem to be without VAT and additional cost for sending etc. Ive heard of several people complaining their purchase at TonFly ended up costyn them a few 100 dollars/euros more then expected.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

If this is who I think it is, he did great on his first jumps (in a classic II) untill he got further down the line. The problems he ran into later (seen in this video) have led to him being advised to take a bit of a break from wingsuit flying. And get back on it later (preferably a trackingsuit first to get used to the openings). Tim, is this who I think it is? Some issues I see in the video: Legs are stretched in the video during deployment. Causing the flyer to flip forward (esp. combined with a wingsuit with a long legwing) The flyer seems to dip legs, de-arching. Also leading to flipping/diving forward. It's 'PUSH hips forward', not pushing the shoulders forward and putting the butt up in the air. That causes you to cup air, and become highly unstable. pull symetricly with armwings/body position. head back on rig. look up. Dont look down to see your hackey. when experiencing hard and unstable openings , wearing a camera probably isnt the best thing to do (both from a snag pov. as the weight issue, extra load on your neck) As mentioned, flying camera on someone doing unpredictably stuff in the air. Being in front of the person, or next to him at best (preferably also slightly ahead/a bit lower) is essential. with people usually pulling on the right side, them leaning to the right is usually what causes a sway in that direction. If you are filming openings, behind and on the right side is putting yourself in extra danger. There has been a canopy/wingsuit collission due to this exact thing in the past. After repeated scary openings like these, usually a sort of fear sets in, that makes people get more and more nervous about openings. And thus, makes them less and less likely to actually RELAX and do a proper pull. If this happens. Take a break, and have sayd person be relaxed in the air again (without a wingsuit) before getting back into that ballgame. Yea..its something we dont see stressed enough here. Also during (complete) FFC flights, the deployment cone is a place where nobody should be flying. As a panic pull/premature opening would ruin two peoples day. Its nice to see this kinda material online. But as a warning to show people wingsuit flying isnt always fun and games, but something that can be a scary as hell thing when it doesnt go as planned/hoped. And glad its not a giftwrapped Tim inside a canopy from that I see in this video...If someone is pulling high. Try and be WAY high and (MOST IMPORTANT) in front of him/her. That way they can never surprise you by flinging lots of material in your face.. Tim, maybe shoot me an email.. Next time Im at Hoevenen (coming saterday?) we can do some (non-ws) jumps just doing that opening position. But (if this is the person we talked about before) his break from wingsuit flying, and getting more comfortable in the air (and probably most of all..forgetting these scary jumps) is probably the best thing to do. Hi Stoney, Yea..seeing a duo scarry roll at 4500 ft, and then pass you quite close backflying was a scary thing. I think everyone does something like this at some point. Be it filming someone else breakoff on thier backs as a cameraflyer, or just having fun at breakoff. Backflying at the end of a jump is cool, but keeping an eye on airspace and having 4500 or so as a basement altitude for stuff where your eye isnt 100% on whats happening in front/bellow you is a good one.. As 4500 is usually the altitude at which you start meeting canopies on (intentional) high pulls such as AFF, Tandem etc. As you mentioned, always checking below for clear airspace and no low flyers (who also should get away from bellow/in front of formations when low) is a definate lesson we can take away from that one. On thing Ive also seen cause several scary situations over the last few years, is someone (inluding me) flying 2 different speeds at breakoff. Doing the first 5000ft to 4000ft backflying (fast) shooting someones high opening or playing around with rolls or whatever, and then transitioning to belly and putting a last 1000ft full flight in. At that point, everyone is up and ahead of you, and people deploying at 3500ft or so will be snivveling into the altitude you are max cruising through (again, behind everyone...instead of being ahead and flying into clear airspace). Arai, we should talk about doing some fun composited 3d/2d wingsuit stuff on video together... Doing some stabilising stuff on long lens footage I recently shot now for a stock agency..gotta love the HD over SD for this kinda stuff :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Backflying at your best, you'll still be making more than a 180 degree flip, and your lines could possibly tear through your legwing on a forcefull/quick opening...sounds like a great plan... Do get video when you try! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

And off walked Vectorboy with my pony... I think what Macca is trying to say, is that all the records etc can tend to create this enviroment where everything needs to always be bigger and better and more than the previous thing. And thereby maybe actually accomplishing the opposite of what everyone is trying to do...while leaving the record or first statement out, might result in the same thing, only a less pretentious title (not linked to this post btw).... Thats the great thing about the internet these days.. There is a such a wealth of great (of sometimes not so great) videos popping up online. Scouring over Vimeo, YouTube and all the other media sources daily, its amazing to see how much stuff is out there (and gets uploaded). You really could spend half your day checking out wingsuit stuff online, and not see the same thing twice (unless its that 'seven sunny days' base video...hard to not see that one 50.000 times anywhere you look). Cool vids..! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

p.s. Costyn and I are taking Matts example, and upgrading our website video section to Flash video. So it may take a few days for this one to appear on our website. When the overhaul is complete, there are also some Zflock pixels showing up there asap.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
