  1. Is email working for everybody? I haven't received a single support@ email since this change, and I typically get 20-30 a day. But emails from outside addies are coming through.
  2. Yes, thank you! I'm breaking in a new guy (DSE).
  3. Okay, it's not much, but we're going to double the email quota for all regular users to 6 megs. However, for various reasons, we're not going to purge old accounts. Instead, we're going to install an auto purge that will delete Trash messages and spam when they reach one month old. I'll let you know when it's live. J
  4. The best possible thing you, as an Internet-Classifieds user can do is stay educated about how to spot scams, so you don't fall for them. The "kelvin dorris" scam was a classic BS ad response that reads almost exactly like every other BS ad response in the Security & Scams Forum. By not knowing that, you almost got nailed in a big, big way. Here's how the typical Classified buyer scam works (from lets-ride.com). Sound familiar? Just out of curiosity... I posted the kelvin dorris warning in Security & Scams on December 9. When did you take his fake money orders to the bank?
  5. I'm a huge fan. The show is tense, suspensful, well produced, well directed and well acted. And some of the chicas -- rrrooowwwr... But yeah, I agree. It's probably a good idea to quit while the quittin's good.
  6. This may be just me, but I'd deal through Paypal exclusively. Even if somebody doesn't have a Paypal account, it's pretty easy for them to make the payment with a major credit card. Then you have some actual protection. Even then, ask the standard questions: Where do you jump? Who's your rigger? And then contact those people to make sure the one who contacted you is telling the truth.
  7. The Western Union money order that the scammer sends you is counterfeit. www.let's-ride.com has a pretty good explanation for how this works...
  8. Or,if you do transact via certified check, don't send the item until you're certain -- absolutely certain -- that your bank has authenticated the check. Call them and ask them specifically about it. These guys rely on the loopholes in the global financial system for their scams to succeed, and checks represent one of those holes.
  9. Sorry this has taken so long. I'll have news on this in a few days, maybe early next week.
  10. Be very suspicious of any buyer or seller who wants to transact via Western Union or certified "cheque." These two phrases almost always seem to accompany a scam. I'll re-post this message periodically to get warnings live on the Classified page.
  11. Looks like this guy is back as frederickconner. Same ad as "Fabio." ____________________ Click here for more info on seller scams. frederickconner has been disabled.
  12. Yeah, Western Union is a big tip off, for sure. NEVER transact via Western Union.

  14. If it's who I think it is, he's also not answering PMs. Another Classified ed emailed me this weekend about the same thing. I sent the poster a response asking to knock it off. If he does it again, we'll take it further.

  16. It's called a Herpes Simplex flare-up.... in non-technological terms.... It's incurable, but manageable... adding partners will not delay the onset of symptoms, it will only spread the bug..... Yes, I am an IT dude ! ;-) Thanks Ghost. I needed a laugh.

From: Fabio Maschiani [mailto:fabiomaschiani@yahoo.com] Sent: 08 December, 2008 10:08 To: Pete@ Subject: Mirage G3 for sale Buon giorno Pete, I attached all the photos I have with the rig and here are the details: This is an awesome G3 Mirage skydiving rig sized for 17" MLW 5'10" 190 lbs - will go up or down a few . It has UNYSIN HARNESS - articulated top and bottom, nickel plated steel, Deluxe backpad, articulated chest and leg straps (UNISYN harness), hook knife snap the legstrap, mini-risers with hard inserts. The rig has 112 jumps on it and it is in excellent shape. The PD 160 Reserve and Cypres had never been fired. The PD Reserve has only had 4 repacks and is the most reliable canopy on the market. The system also includes RSL ready, leg strap retainer, loops installed (Freefly bungy). The main caopy is a PD Stiletto 190 and the lines are in perfect condition. Mirage Systems Mirage G3 M5 112 jumps 8/2003 Performance Designs Stiletto 190 ft² 112 jumps 7/2005 Performance Designs PD Reserve 160 ft² 0 jumps 1/2004 Airtec GmbH Cypres 2 Expert 0 jumps 3/2006 I can make the shipping anywhere you like so it is your decision if it would be Europe or North America. I am using fedex for the shipping and I want to receive the money using western union money transfer. I will pay the fedex taxes and you will pay the taxes from western union. This way it is fair fot both of us. So all you have to spend is the 1400 EUR and the taxes from western union. Email me if you are interested and I will give you more details then. 19. Here it is in a nutshell. Apparently, our server was the victim of an old bug that popped up once or twice in the distant past, but was never tracked down. This particular bug generates a database query for something that, basically, cannot exist. Efforts to track it and kill it are underway, as are discussions on how to protect against this in the future. Those discussions include additional servers.
  20. Some of you may have noticed that the site was down for some time today. Gossamer Threads, our hosting company has given me a long and technical explanation that I mostly don't understand. Suffice to say that the server crashed and was taken offline for repairs for a little more than two hours. I'm sure nobody is thrilled about this, but I assure you, I'm far less thrilled than you are. More when I have it.
  21. I'm inclined to think it's the latter. Still waiting. I re-asked the question this morning.
  22. No, I'm not really in favor of going that far with this.
