  1. ============== I'm still not quite clear on this one; I can't reproduce it. Will you post me a screen shot?
  2. You know it doesn't do this on Rockclimbing.com. This might be an easy fix.
  3. Yeah, I came to realize that myself after fiddling around with it awhile in IE. Funny that it only happens in IE, though. I hope you guys can fix that, since lots of people like to use the "quote" button when replying to a post. I also hope you can fix the tags problem in FF, since it makes composing posts in FF kind of a pain. (And thanks for the info about the Copy Shortcut link.) I'll run both these by the code monkeys. That FF thing has bugged me for a while, too, actually.
  4. Okay, I have the official word. Here's what happened: 1. The primary drive of the dropzone database server crashed and was not recoverable. It was an older server. 2. We fell over to our new back up. 3. The back-up could not handle the traffic well, and performance was poor during peak traffic times. 4. Yesterday, our developers upgraded the back up from 4 GB of ram, to 16 GB of ram, and performance improved. It has handled traffic for the last 24 hours or so without issue. 5. We upgraded the main hardware and RAM to give us protection from drive failures and additional performance improvements. As of now, we're still on the back-up, which is working fine. Obviously, though, we need to switch back over to the main server. When that happens, there's going to be another outage for probably 20 minutes. This'll be around 4:30 PM Pacific time, Thursday. Thanks all. I hate, hate, HATE the inconvenience all this caused.
  5. We don't get a whole lot of artocles submitted over on BASEjumper.com, but this one came in the other day. No pics, but if you also BASE or climb rocks, you might like it, anywho: http://www.basejumper.com/Articles/General/Hank_Caylor_The_Man_The_Myth_and_The_Legend_822.html
  6. I'm also not seeing anything amiss when browsing those two links. I think it most often happens when what PhreeZone mentioned is going on, e.g., somebody posted something long enough without word breaks.
  7. Just an update that there's no other update right now. I'm logging off for the night, but I'll check back when I can. Things seem to be working...
  8. Ooookaaay... we're back. The Gossamer boys just put 12 more gigs of ram into the back up, which is why were down for the last 15 minutes. Word is now they're going to work on the main. It's hard to describe how un-thrilled I am, but they're working their asses off right now to stabilize the patient. Bear with us. There will undoubtedly be more hiccups today.
  9. Well, we got the back up running just in time, because the main server went down last night. The back up worked, but not ideally, so the Gossamer team is massaging the kinks out now. While we're in there mucking about, we're going upgrade a few other things as well. In the meantime, things are working, but if database queries get a little on the large side, things bottleneck and page-load times slow down. You might even see a proxy error or two. The team is working on it until it's fixed. In the meantime, I've very sorry for yet another inconvenience. Jay
  10. Oh, for cryin' out loud. Nobody told me anything. Oh, well. Chalk it up to web weirdness, I guess.
  11. Cypres just built its 50,000th unit, and the thing is actually gold plated. They're giving it away to one lucky person who registers on their website: cypres.cc More to come when I hear of them.
  12. As the guy with the steering wheel in his hands, so to speak, I occasionally hear things that may (or may not) be of interest to skydivers. Some of these things may be off beat, borderline advertising, unsubstantiated rumors, obscene deals on gear, blah, blah, blah... you get the point: this is my miscellaneous gum-flapping thread. First up...
  13. Aw, boody hell. Okay, let me see what I can find out.
  14. I still don't have an answer from the ad folk. But, I just realized why none of my emails are being answered today. I'm supposed to be off work for President's Day. Crap. CRAP. Oh well. Since there's nobody else reporting this, I have to think it's some combination of your end and ours, rather than anything exclusively on one or the other.
  15. Ummm... it's pretty far off already. I'll think about this.
  16. There's no chance I can make this a high-priority item, but let me see what I can do. In the meantime, watch that mouse. Edit: test attachment, don't mind me.
  17. Just had a look. Seems like we don't have that ability at all here, but that doesn't mean we can't get it.
  18. Mmmmaaaayyybe... how about this instead? Check here and scroll down: http://www.rockclimbing.com/Articles/Photography/John_Scurlock_Peaks_of_the_Northwest_974.html See how the comments are enabled? Would something like that work?
  19. Edit: Scroll down for the latest! Hi all, We're bringing new development and back-up environments online tonight (Friday 2/13), and word is we'll be down around 8PM US-eastern for, more or less, an hour. Very sorry for the inconvenience! Jay
  20. The forum search function gets a lot of flack over on RC.com, and deservedly so. I'm getting ready to make some changes to it, though, and I'll give some heavy thought to bringing those changes this way, too. Jay
  21. Gracias, Jack. Nothing to report yet. Might not be till Monday. Thanks for taking time to help with this -- I really appreciate it. J
  22. Maybe, but before you download anything, let's make sure it's not on the site's end. To get a screen shot: 1. Find your "Prnt Scrn" button (probably somewhere near the top right of your keyboard) and press that once. 2. Now open an image program, MS Paint will be fine (Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>MS Paint). 3. Then press Control and V and the same time to paste the screen shot. 4. Save this new file, and in the File Type field, be sure to select JPG, so you don't end up with a huge file. 5. Then just come back here and attach it to a post in this thread. I'll take it back to the ad guys and see what they have to say about it.
  23. We had a bug this week that may have had something to do with it, but it was fixed yesterday. And I'm only guessing on that, since the timing seems right. Are you still seeing it? If so, would you mind getting me a screen shot? As for your concern, I'm pretty sure you haven't picked anything up. And if you did pick something up that blocks ads, let the rest of the users know. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.
