  1. Wendy, I know you! I was talking about people I don't know!
  2. Hi all, I was at the POPs record at Perris last weekend and only met Quade and Kate Cooper. Were there other DZ'ers that I missed? Conway
  3. As for the 124-way sequential record . . . it's still out there for the taking. We came so close. Nobody has done it . . . yet. ............................... We held the 125-way TSR for 14+ seconds but hadn't planned the second pt. at the time. The next 2 were 125 way 2 pt and 130+ 2pt and neither came close to building the 1st again. Anyhow, see ya this weekend. Conway
  4. Are you shooting the POPs world attempts this week/end? Did they ever get the 2 pt 124-way? See ya at Perris this week
  5. 8/17/03 First jump of the day. 13th jump of the Texas 125-way. Late diver out of trail casa, backed off my head down swoop and for a change don't see any low before I get to the formation. Soft dock and then someone ends up on my back, after shucking them off someone else takes out my feet! Get back in and after a few seconds see the Josh Hill on his back filming from below and I realize the calmness of the formation and know that we got it! Freakin' amazing feeling!
  6. I would demo both the X-fire2 and the Sam. I demoed the Sam before buying a X-fire1.
  7. It's absolutly normal! It's not addicting either. I've done over 1500 jumps inthe last 3 yrs and I can quit anytime I want. In fact i quit last Saturday. Haven't jumped since (damn rain). See it's Really not addictive. Feakin' Saurday,Hurry up.TSL
  8. ............................... Did you mean to put quality and Reflex in the same sentence?
  9. Not that I think that I'd be in any danger of being sued for telling someone that a lightly loaded Spectre might be a good canopy for them... now if I was telling them that a Crossfire makes an excellent first canopy that'd be a different story. Lisa, I happen to think a Crossfiire loaded .6-.7/1 would be an excellent first canopy if they are using Sabers for students like my dz. loading usually 0.9-1.0/1 by the time off student status. OK so at least they would need some warnings.
  10. Welcome to "crack". The program at my dz is about $2000 for the whole "A" program I think. Good luck and welcome to our addiction
  11. Kolla is the shitz! I mean that in the best of terms. I dealt with her with my first reserve and met her at Spaceland a couple of years later. She still remembered me! I was looking to buy another new reserve from her when I found a sweet deal on DZ.com on another PD reserve. Even though I don't jump PD mains, she will still do any thing in the world to help all of us.She brings company standards to an all time high in our small community! We should have more like her! Conway
  12. I may be a "Bad American" but I was dissappointed with "our teams". I expected Gold in 4-way and 8-way! My heart goes out to Airspeed for coming back and losing the cheesy tie breaker, but that's the rules. If the host country could at least afford getting a "real jump plane ie." an otter we would have kicked tail IMHO. Oh. and congrat's to Rook and Mike on the freefly gold! Conway
  13. Happy B-day mountain bike casualty girl!
  14. Formation has to be as drawn with all grips complete, but I don't think there is any rule about who is in which slot. So if A goes a little low, B can move up to take that slot and if A gets back up, he can then take B's slot, and all is well (I think). That IS correct! On one of the Texas record attempts, Dan O'Brian took someone elses slot but the low guy never got back up to take his.
  15. Hi Jon, Precision is now putting spectra brakelines on all new and reline canopies.
  16. I thought this was the site to go to to apply for the application for the record jump in Thaiwan. Any help? Conway
  17. I assume they did the X-mod with HMA lines. They change the trim.
  18. Although I this seems to be a mostly white male sport thare are 3 blacks that regularly jump at my dz along with a couple of pakistanies a few orientals and a few of these are women. When talking about jumping around most blacks that I know, they seem to be really spooked by the idea more than wuffo whites for some reason. We have no problems with the ones that do jump though.
  19. I wouldn't think that AFF would be a problem at most DZ's with Otters. You just may have to start jumping a tandem canopy if they don't have over 300' sport mains(Manta). At my dz they have jumped a few close to 300# lately 280-295. It's up to the tandem master as to whether he'll take you or not. It has a lot to do with physical stature. I think a better solution though is to use this desire as motivation to get healthier and lose the weight. I have a customer who's lost 20# in the last month by changing his diet because he also wants to jump. He's down to 260 now. Good luck and hope this is helpful.
  20. OK, The last picture was hard enough, then the article got me, damn. Really glad for Jaime!
  21. IMHO the better pilot gets the better swoop. Same pilot on Stilletto and XFire2 even the same size/hands down, the XFire2. Not enough experience with the Nitron and I own 3 Precision canopies.(all X-braced)
  22. I was wondering if anyone else has/had this problem when they started jumping? Nope, 1500 jumps in < 3years and only jump weekends. Never thought of leaving my job,and I'm not hooked, I could quit anytime I want to, seriously!
  23. Yep, Know the feeling well. After 4 AFF jumps I laid off almost 2 years. The day I went to a different dz for the refresher course, once I got in the plane and just smelled it, my stomach went crazy with the nerves. I went home and slept on it knowing that the next day I was going, period! When I got to the dz the next day I was much more mentally prepared. Twenty minute call, not enough time to sit and dwell. Just kept reminding my self that the fear stays in the plane once you leave. Violla! The best jump ever! Now three years back in and almost 1500 jtd, i still have a little healthy apprehension before leaving the plane the first jump of the day! It's what makes you more aware and saftey conscious. Remember, it's only air.
  24. Yes the riser pressure is high on both the Icarus X-bracedd canopies. The Velocity is lighter but the Xaos' are awsome. I have 3, an 85'-21,88'-21 and a brand new 83'-27. They are the best opening and have very light front riser pressure compared to the others! That 114 should feel huge in comparison to what you were jumping, I went from a 99'Xfire-1 to the 85'21. Enjoy!
