  1. Funny, I average over 75 seconds a jump doing RW!
  2. Hi Quade, How many proxies were sent in along with mine?
  3. Team "Random 4Nication" "on the hill"
  4. At Spaceland, we have 2 Otters, one with side benches(one side stowable)and 1 with the straddle benches. If there aren't tandems in the one with the straddle benches, we move them to the side like the other otter. Everyone except the TM's preffer the bench style.
  5. Someone caught my reserve pin about 1/4" from coming out a week ago on 2 minute exit call, broke my line also getting it reset. It was fine earlier in the day. That's why I get a gear check on EVERY load before exit! It's easy enough to check on the Mirage.
  6. QuoteSerious response for the specific scenario - We do this every load and the door stays closed until the seatbelts are off. No exceptions. No problems this weekend and it happened frequently. And some DZ's just take off with the door open, no problem.
  7. Hi Josh, Curious, did you intensionally leave the brakes not set? I have never jumped a canopy with the brakes not set but have heard horror stories from people that had packers not set them! I agree on the 800'-1000' snivel. I sent back to SQ1 a used saber that I had them put a pocket on the slider before I jumped it and it did that! CYA Saber!
  8. I actually think for some reason my canopy's break set loops were put too far down and so the canopy is almost in full flight when it opens which is why it opens so soft. ----------------------------------------------------------- If you really believe that, try jumping it without the brakes set!
  9. I had about 350 jumps when I got my Cf1-99. Everyone at my DZ said I would die under the Cf1 loaded 1.7/1. At 800 jumps, I was jumping a Xaos 85/21cell loading it 2.2. Everyone said once again, adios! I jump over 500 jumps per year and stay so current that people don't understand that I can be so ready to downsize. I have been around canopy NAZI's all my jumping career. The Cf2 is an awsome canopy for a non X-braced canopy, but you must respect the fact that if you are used to jumping a canopy that doesn't stay in a dive like this will, you must be careful! Canopies don't kill, Ignorance doe's! What I would do @ 150' on a Stilleto, I would do @ 200+' on a Cf2, I do @ 400' on my Xaos with more room for error! Good luck and safe swoops! Conway
  10. QuoteAccording to the website, 1.4-2.2 is recommended. A few folks I've talked to said 1.6-1.9 is really good, a couple others were saying that beyond 1.6 you'll loose distance. ------------------------------ Hi Dave, I was jumping my Cf1 @ 1.87/1 and think it was about optimum. I demoed a Cf2 @ 2.1+/1 and felt that was a little high. I got some good surfs but would typically have to run out a good one where I don't on the X-braced. IMO,overloading a non X-braced gives up too much glide. Safe swoops! Conway
  11. I think that is a universally true and accepted principle. I guess its the 'confidence-inspiring' aspect of this canopy I'm referring to. So far, I would prefer the stability of a samurai (same size) in turbulance to this Cf2. Thats all: and note its my only complaint, and a relatively minor one. Maybe someone else has a similar opinion/experience? I'm just wondering if bumping up my wingload (not downsizing) might smooth it out a bit. I had good results on my stiletto using this technique (adding weights.) ------------------------------------------------------------ I loaded my CF1 anywhere from 1.7-1.87 depending on weights worn and would fly right through turbulance that was scaring the s$%t out of more experienced jumpers under say Stilletos loaded much lighter. I was demoing a Cf2 during the TSR attempts last year loading it over 2.1/1. It was much faster than the Cf1 loaded a little lighter but seamed more affected by turbulance with much lighter front riser pressure but I think that also had more to do with the trim.
  12. My "BIG" Xaos @2.3/1. I always take the lowest opening altitude on the load. Note; our landing area is huge at Spaceland.
  13. I don't think it qualifies as a VSCR because we launched the 8way base intact. It was a hoot to be on! Thanks Josh.
  14. ------------------------------------------------------------ I put my 85' Xaos 21 in my BOC but my 88 has to go in the trey!
  15. Body position! If it spins up, grab your risers and get them even if possible with your hands and harness input. Once even, the canopy should fly straight and allow you to kick out of the twists if the canopy doesn't undo it itself. Good luck!
  16. ---------------------------------------------------------- The Xfire2 isn't near as soft opening as the 1. What did you not like about the Xaos? Mine are sweet opening. I can't see jumping anything non-crossbraced again. The Xfire stops turning when you do, the Spinetto has a lot of oversteer and is very harness happy. I would dump my Xfire 1-99' loaded 1.7+ in a full track and have incredibly soft,on heading openings.
  17. _______________________________________________________- It's PD's bread and butter canopy and it's not better than the others, it's there middle of the road 9 cell.
  18. Hi Josh, Which one is the record pic and how many is it? Conway
  19. Hi Rosa, Congrats on stickin' with it and gettin' the "A". A few years ago I did a fun jump tandem then AFF at a DZ that isn't my home DZ now. It took me 4 months to get my first 4 solo's in. I was at that DZ every Saturday and Sunday but picked a bad winter to deside to start. I failed level 1(lack of altitude awareness, went low)jm pulled me, passed level 1 on the next jump a week later. Failed level 2(lack of AA again) a month and a half later. Another long time before another attempt at level 2 I failed again because I couldn't reach the hackey on this huge rig that they had me in so when I de-arched to reach it, they pulled me again even though I actually pulled my self. Unaware that they had pulled for me, I was stoked. At the debrief, they told me what I didn't what I didn't know. I didn't go back for a couple of months and just did a safety refresher and never went back. I stayed away from diving almost 2 years before hearing of the death of one of my JM's(suicide)before trying a different DZ. Within about a month I got my "A". I test jumped my first rig on #12 and never jumped at that DZ again. I found my home DZ on jump 13 on my 42nd birthday. In the last 2 1/2 years I have accumulated 1270+ jumps, been in the Texas state record 120 way attempts,Texas POPs 62way record and tons of formation loads. I didnt have your tennacity to stick with it the first time. Remember this is a learning process and that there will be highs and lows, but don't give up! I'm still kickin' myself for quitting the first time. Good luck and I'm glad that you found a DZ more to your liking. Drop me a note when you do your 100th!
  20. Hey Bob, Thanks for the honkin' base and since this is your FIRST state record attempt and your FIRST post? BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to DZ. Fellow Texas POPs 62way record holder
  21. My "fast" RW suit is my JFTC suit. ZP nylon front, spandex arms, no booties. I've got a set of pink slip on arms to add a bit of drag. This suit with the slip ons was okay on the JFTC jumps but I'd have been happier if I had gotten other than the ZP nylon for the front. _______________________________________________________ Why would someone chose no booties for 100+ big ways? I know that I really appreciated my booties on the Texas 120ways last year!
  22. Details; Newish jumper, maybe 50 solos, on a 3way 135mph-ish belly, cameraman goes low so i presented both forearms in a 2way stable, he sees deploy altitude, submarines under me no wave just straight to pilot chute, almost got the camera guy too! 14 visits for acupuncture and twice to the chiro and still suffering from sciatica in my right side.
  23. ------------------------------------------------------- Correction Jimbo; 62! And thanks! It was fun!
