I think this is where that whole constitution thingy kicks in. You know, the one about separation of church and state.
-
Every decision you are required to make while in any leadership position, particularly president, will not always be so black and white as 'gravity'. If leadership were a science I would agree with you, but leadership is an art and cannot be explained or executed using equations. That is why most scientists, not all, do not make very good leaders. If facts were the answer to everything then there wouldn't be very much debate in the courtroom where facts supposedly rule. Everyone has their own slant and interpretation of these facts.

Yes, that is what he is elected to do. I think we have had that already. It was Clinton, although he would never have had the balls to come out and admit it.
-
Man, you are really on an anti-religion and anti-Bush campaign. I take anything that the 'New York Times' says with a grain of salt. They are one of the most left wing liberal newspapers I have ever read. I'm sure they only printed 'facts' but I'm also sure they presented it in a way that supports their liberal views. I agree with separation of church and state but I also understand that a person in office is not required to denounce his religion just because he is elected to public office. The intent of 'separation of church and state' was to prevent the government from dictating how, when, and whom the people worship. It does not mean that religious people cannot make decisions based on their religious beliefs. I respect Bush for at least holding to his principles even if they are not the most popular.

When you get your commission, your NCOs will never let you play with knives again. A 2nd LT with a knife is an accident waiting to happen!

Can you explain how you 'tighten' your stows? I can think of a few ways but I would like to know how you are doing it. I don't think anyone at my DZ does it. We just use different sized rubber bands to get different amounts of unstowing force.

I run three times a week ranging from 3-5 miles each time. Try to keep about a 7 minute pace. Also, lift weights and do some muscular endurance exercises three times a week. Try not to stay in the gym more than an hour each time. I feel alot better when I run and work out regularly.

Sounds like some of your military training coming out AggieDave.

Yeah, back in the days of the 'bounce and blend' theory.

Video - Stoning of women in Iran - Serious topic

I agree with you on most of this but, I don't agree with the belief that Israel is somehow 'lily white' in this conflict. They have treated the Palistinians like second class citizens which is one large reason for the current Intifada. They have also tended to retaliate against the terrorists with a shotgun when a rifle was a better solution(a question of precision if you don't understand). I know that Iraq is currently giving out $25,000 to the families of suicide bombers but haven't seen any proof of Saudi Arabia participating in this. Saddam has an ulterior motive in keeping the Isreali/Palistinian conflict going. As long as the focus is on this conflict the US will not be able to build support for a strike on Iraq. He will keep things stirred up for as long as he can. We also must keep our conflict oriented towards terrorist organizations not the Muslim people in general. We don't have the ability, nor is it necessary for us to wage war against the entire Islamic world. We also can't have a war against terrorism. Terrorism is a tactic. You don't declare wars against tactics. That is like saying, this is a war against the 'Search and Attack'. Doesn't narrow things down real well. But.......I digress. -
Yeah, and no boobies. Nada.

Referring back to my original post, I stated that the belief that the universe exploded by chance from nothing was just as hard to believe as that a divine intelligence created the universe from nothing. I did not claim to know the answer. 'Nothing' before the universe was created means exactly that, 'nothing'. No quarks, no matter, absolutely nothing. Science has not proven that quarks disappear into nothing, only that they cease to be detectable by current technology.
-
You're comparing the 'nothing' that exists in a universe that is already created with the 'nothing' that existed before anything was here. In my comprehension that is a large leap.

WHOA! My head freakin hurts!

That is waaaaaaaaay hot! And the suit looks good too!

LOL, I like that one.

I was referring to the purely scientific version of creation (the Big Bang Theory) when explained with the insistence that there is no God.
-
99% of scientists since the mid 1960s when the Big Bang Theory came out. Is it easier to believe that it has always been here with no beginning and no end? Doesn't make it any easier for me.
-
Quade, you do realize that the scientific argument for creation rests on the fact that the world was created from nothing by mere chance don't you? Both arguments are really hard to swallow if you ask me.

Try it! It is so soft that you won't even feel it when you hit. I would have to agree that the Bible is not a physics text book and was never meant to be a physics test book. But, there is a certain amount of religion in science too. I kind of agree with Einstein though:

You can say this about parts of the Bible but stating that 'because it comes from the Bible it is not true' is completely wrong. There are locations of cities and historical events cited in the Bible that have been subsequently proven to be true. In fact a lost city was recently found by Space Shuttle photography that was cited in the Bible as the birthplace of Abraham. The location was described in the Bible but no proof of its existance had ever been found until recently.

It has been explained to me a hundred different ways. Bottom line conclusion of mine is that God has a higher purpose that I probably will never understand. If you want to read some theories there are alot of good books about 'commonly asked questions on the Bible'. But, they are all just theories. I can't speak for everyone but that is how I have been taught. There is more than one example of God "issuing judgement" on entire peoples for their sins. Even when those sins were not committed by the entire populace. Examples: Sodom and Gomora, The Great Flood. The trick is not to get on his bad side.

To kill them of course! It is stated throughout the Bible that God is a loving and just God. But, he is also jealous and vengeful (sp). He is not the white haired grandpa that most people want to believe he is. He is a God of Peace and War when it is necessary. He DEMANDS that you serve him and him only. If he believes that an entire people need to be destroyed in order to fulfill his goals then he will do it. This is all according to the Bible. I'm not arguing over the validity of the Bible. I believe it. If you don't that is your choice (that is stated in the Bible also). So, what is the context? Start with the beginning of Deuteronomy and read up to that point and you can make your own judgement. My point was that you let these passages stand alone because by theirselves they look very bad and it makes your point look stronger.
