You know, it really pains me that people are being inconvenienced in the name of security. Some are even [gasp] getting their feelings hurt! The tighter the security gets the more it will become an inconvenience. Either learn to live with it or learn to live with the constant threat of another terrorist attack. Just because they are looking at a certain profile for a terrorist does not mean that everyone who fits that profile is a terrorist. It only means that they don't have the resources to do a 100% check of everything and everyone that flies on a commercial airline so they are focusing on the more likely candidates. You are the man! I've been trying to teach my wife how to pack ever since I started jumping and she flat out refuses. I jump one day every other weekend in order to maintain peace and allow some family time with the wife and kids. She has done a tandem and is thinking of getting her license once the boys get a little older. If you can't get them to pack try photography. My wife's big hobby is photography and she spends days at the DZ taking pictures and talking cameras to the camera flyers. It works out fairly well. Skydiving is a fairly selfish sport. My wife reminds me of this on a fairly regular basis. You have to take time out for yourself, even as a parent. You can't completely neglect yourself and expect to keep a healthy mental attitude. It will give you time away and a chance to do something that makes you happy. Everyone needs that (even mommies). Just make sure you balance it with your family and other responsibilities. It is a fairly dangerous sport though and you have to be realistic about that.
