Lol, portraying a cop on the internet? Isn't that a Federal violation Clay? "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

I love how some Europeans are able to lump all Americans under one stereotype while complaining that Americans stereotype. Seems a little ironic. I just spent a week and a half in Europe and was really surprised by the American stereotype that is portrayed in European popular culture. Maybe they need to stop criticizing America constantly and take a look inward. As far as all Muslims being violent, that is incorrect from my experience. I work with Arabs, mostly Muslim, on a daily basis and have found very few who support terrorism. Most do mistrust the US government but they also mistrust every other government in the world. They are quick to believe conspiracy theories because of their experiences being raised in corrupt governments. Their religion and personal friendships are the things they hold most dear. These factors make them prime targets for recruitment by extremists who have all of the answers. The Muslim extremists blowing themselves up are victims of radicals who are twisting a peaceful religion to serve their own desires. In fact, Islam is more inclusive than Judaism or Christianity (I consider myself a Christian). In Islam, Jews and Christians will go to heaven. They will not receive the same reward as Muslims but they will not go to hell. Christianity, I'm not sure about Judaism, believes that if you are not a Christian you will go to hell. I had a local Imam tell me that if they (the terrorists) don't like the US then they should get the fuck out of the country. I almost fell out of my seat. Twin Otter w/four-blade props?
kmcguffee replied to rmsmith's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've never tested it myself but, according to what I learned in my college engineering classes, the more blades you add to a prop the quieter the blade chop noise is. Compare a UH-60 Blackhawk to a UH-1H "Huey". The UH-60 has four blades as compared to the Huey which has two blades. The Uh-60 is much quieter. You get very little of the blade slap that is so characteristic of the Huey in all of the Vietnam movies. Also, the more blades you add the less efficient each blade. This is due to each blade having less clean air to use due to the wake of the preceding blade. It has something to do with laminar airflow vs turbulent airflow. Turbulent is easier to move through but gives an airfoil less lift. The total lift of the prop might increase with an added prop but each blades efficiency decreases. It is a case of diminishing returns. So, my guess would be that it provides more power and is quieter. Now this is all from memory and from classes that I took over 10 years ago. So I could be completely wrong. -
Better be in date when traveling comercial!

Not really. The 4th Ammendment protects us against unreasonable searches, not all searches, by the government. The courts decide whether a search is reasonable not individuals or groups. Most of the federal judges were placed in their position by Clinton not the current elected officials. You should have a chance of fighting it now if you try. There is no reason to have security on airlines now anyway. The 4th Ammendment: "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin -
Well then, why do you only start threads that: 1. Show the current administration in a bad light or 2. Show a conservative or religious US person in a bad light? The "politically correct", "blame America First", "America is responsible for all the world's problems" crowd is just using this to try and justify their positions. They quietly ignore all of the crap being flung by liberal national leaders and public figures in other countries. The liberals are so scared of offending someone they don't say anything controversial unless it is aimed at a conservative. What this general said wasn't very bright but it is getting way more press than it deserves. I must have missed the Jihad part. Jihad is a Muslim religious term for a mighty struggle in the name of Allah. It doesn't exist in the Christian religion. Also, US military officers don't determine the types of wars the US fights on a strategic level. That is the decision of the elected civilian officials. He could claim we are engaged in a war with Martians for control of the Force in the name of Drax if he wants to. He doesn't have any control over those types of decisions. We need to quit worrying about whether we are offending the terrorists. If some people in the country would spend as much time trying to stop terrorism as they did in trying to sabotage the current effort we might get somewhere. I haven't read this entire thread but I find it amazing that we are criticizing someone for stating their religious views, in a country where free speech is protected, and ignoring comments like these: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20031017/ap_on_re_as/islamic_summit If you are going to start keeping people from expressing views we disagree with then lets go all the way! I've seen them spell better too.

It is hilarious that the Middle-eastern cultures blame us for the "bad" influence in their society. I think part of the issue is what they consider "bad". It seems to be socially acceptable within the local Middle-eastern community (among very recent immigrants) to conduct any type of fraud against the government and community they can get away with. Crimes against other people directly are considered bad but fraud is a way of life. Cooperating with law enforcement is anti-Islamic and, if discovered, can lead to you being thrown out of the community. It is very different. Not all are like this but it is very common. Every country and community has problems. They need to take responsibility for their own issues. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

That is two different types of entertainment. I'm comparing news against news. I agree it is not some type of organized conspiracy but the lean to the left is there. Do you agree with this part or just decide not to address it: "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

The fact that the majority of Americans think the media is a servant of the Democratic Party and the fact that an entire news channel has become number one based on their disassociation with that belief might be just a little bit of evidence. Whad'ya think? I believe the media is dedicated to the service of the all mighty dollar first. Most journalists tend to be liberal in their beliefs (just look at the journalists on this forum and review their beliefs). Don't you think their beliefs haves some bearing on the types of stories they focus on and the way in which they report those stories? That is a stretch. It has to be a little more direct than that. Think of all of the espionage cases that weren't prosecuted as treason. Lindh and Jane Fonda weren't even tried for treason. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

I think the liberal spin is that the leak was politically motivated from a member of the White House. That has yet to be proven or even reasonably substantiated. Whoever did it, from whatever party, should be punished along with Novak. I believe the media should be held responsible for releasing information that could get someone killed. Novak's actions were irresponsible. This also doesn't sound like treason unless you consider Novak to be an enemy of the US. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Was involved in a seizure of drug money that totaled about $300,000 in small bills. I carried half of it to the bank with another guy to have it counted. It filled four large trash bags. It would have been easy to take some. The guys we seized it from didn't even know how much money was there. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

Chmn of Joint Chiefs opinion of Gen Clarke & his flip flops
kmcguffee replied to sundevil777's topic in The Bonfire
If lying is not conforming then you're right. Clark was in charge of the person who won the war. Lt General Michael Short commanded the air war. He was also a critic of several of Clark's directives after the war. Here is a different perspective on the war in Kosovo: http://www.nettime.org/Lists-Archives/nettime-l-0005/msg00114.html Another clip: There were a lot of problems with the war in Kosovo that weren't publicized because of the media love for Clinton. Clark was fired by Shelton because of integrity issues with his superiors. He'll make a great democrat. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin -
I remember those games. It's funny, back then it was a chore to go to them every freakin Saturday. Now, I wish I could do it all over again. That school is full of outstanding people. Too bad a few CPT Yees can really tarnish the hard work of thousands of others. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

This has been going on a lot longer than Bush has been in office. I can only go back to 1992 but it was happening then also. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

Just to add to this, if they use the mail, or cause the mail to be used, in any form to further the fraud then it is mail fraud. You don't necessarily need a money order to do it. You just need to do part of the transaction using a mail carrier. The problem is you are very unlikely to get any agency to investigate a $500 mail fraud case. There are too many $5-6 million mail fraud cases out there. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

It's about freekin' time! -- Wesley Clark for President!
kmcguffee replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
0 although I would give that credit to the air war commander, Air Force Lt. Gen. Michael C. Short, not Clark. Now answer this. In Kosovo, was Clark a tactical or operational level commander? I said he was a "tactical idiot". "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin -

He never will. He is an egomaniac. He was also a tactical idiot when he was a General. Ask anyone from the 1st Cavalry Division about his infamous "Box formation". The OCs at NTC used to get a good laugh seeing us all die in a nice little box in the desert. At least he is not a whimp like the rest of the democratic candidates. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin -
Clark was my Division Commander in the 1st Cavalry Division. I had the pleasure of serving as an LNO from Brigade to Division during a Warfighter exercise and was able to see Clark work for about a week. He is very smart but.............he is also extremely egotistical and extremely rude and abrasive to his subordinates. Overall, I didn't like him. He is the only Democrat that I would consider voting for though. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

That is hilarious. Do you guys really believe all of this crap? "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

The military isn't "bad", it's a necessity. It provides security for the country and serves as a deterrent to foreign attacks. It can be used in a "bad" way or for "bad" purposes. I wouldn't boycott something just because they sell to the military. That seems extremely stupid. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
