  1. I was laughing in disbelief. I'm pushing for California. BTW, I've always blamed the liberal Democrats for 9/11. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  2. Terrorism's goal isn't to reduce "his" ability to act agressively. It is to influence the political will of the power the terrorism is directed against. HAMAS' goal is the destruction of Israel and the creation of a Palestinian state. Al Qaeda's goal is to get all Western influence out of the Middle East and the creation of Islamic governments in every nation, ultimately, in the world. I don't know of any terrorist organization with the goal of reducing a countries ability to act aggressively. That is more of a military mission and requires a national military's resources to accomplish. The lack of resources is what turns groups to terrorism. Calling Strategic Bombing a form of terrorism is a stretch. Strategic bombing does not, by definition, mean you are attacking civilian population centers. In fact, it was not until late in WWII that we started bombing population centers. Before that time we conducted day light raids on military and industrial targets in order to increase the accuracy of the bombs even though this also increased our casualties. Other allies conducted night raids aimed at population centers the entire war. We ultimately went to night raids aimed at population centers because we couldn't continue to absorb the casualties resulting from daylight raids. And Israel has some excellent reasons to want to kill Palestinians. When an act is aimed at killing civilians with the sole purpose of instilling terror and changing the political policies of the government, IOW no military objective, then it is terrorism. The terrorist group tries to get governments to do what they want through killing people to instill terror. Armies might instill terror but it is not their primary tool to fulfill their objective. Their primary objective is the destruction or neutralization of the enemies army. Strategic bombing had a military objective in WWII. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." 3. Talk about that whole black kettle and pot thingy or maybe the glass houses one you used a litle while ago. Anyway, its called responding not complaining. Read all of your posts on this forum if you need further clarification as to what complaining/whining is. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  4. Looks like your little poll didn't pan out how you expected. BTW, what are you trying to say in Arabic? It translates as "with peace?". "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  5. LOL, it only took 19 posts before someone started bashing the US in a thread trying to pay tribute to the 9/11 dead. I find that disgusting. I'm assuming that a "fitting memorial" would have been for the US to apologize to the world for creating conditions that caused 19 idiots to crash three planes and kill 3,000 people? After this apology we could stick our heads back in the sand like we did after the first WTC bombing, a failed assassination plan on the former President Bush, the Khobar Towers bombing, the USS Cole bombing, the African Embassy bombings, and repeated aggressive acts toward our pilots in Iraq trying to patrol the no fly zones. It just doesn't seem to me that the "other way" was working. Maybe the group that created the conditions requiring us to invade Afghanistan share some of the responsibility for the civilian deaths in that country. That reasoning seems to work well with other arguments from the "blame America first" crowd. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  6. I have to admit that I care more about what the Arabs think than the European countries. As a group they've always had an "I'm superior" attitude and looked down their noses at the US. Lately, they've went to great pains to hide their economic goals in cloaks of moral superiority. I find it disgusting. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  7. I work with Arabs daily in my job and, based on my experience, they do not have a general hatred for Americans. They have a general mistrust of government authority though. This mistrust is not just directed against the US either. They mistrust any and all governments including Arab governments. You find many who love America and Americans and you find many who hate America and Americans. I can also say the same for whites, blacks, hispanics, Eastern Europeans, etc. Be careful making your judgement of the entire Arab community based on the opinions and dialogue of one member. 9. Well, I've got a message in mine but I'm not sure how much of a secret it is.
  10. My 4 year old boy starts running around the housing yelling "Captain Underpants!" everytime we make him change clothes.
  11. I've never seen these two divisions considered Special Forces. They are conventional light infantry with specialized missions. They don't fall under SOCOM they are under the 18th Airborne Corps. The Ranger Battalions are dual hatted. The Ranger Regiment falls under SOCOM but also performs conventional missions. 12. Like Clay said, Delta Force also recruits from the regular army. I had 2 soldiers from my Infantry company go Delta Force and an officer friend from the regular Army go Delta. They recruit SSG and above from the enlisted ranks and officers after a successful company command. From what I observed, the type of people that make it to Delta Force are a lot different than the type that make it to Special Forces (Green Beret). Delta Force tends to be made up of quiet professionals while the Green Beret tend to be the loud "hooah hooah" type. You're right. That would be an undeserved promotion.
  13. The Green Berets are the Army component of the Special Forces. The branch within the Army is actually called Special Forces but their nickname is the Green Berets because they wear......................green berets. Delta Force is a part of the Army and part of SOCOM but different than the Green Berets. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  14. Too many unanswered questions. My first thought would be "no" though. Was the design defect known or unknown by the manufacturer? What type of testing did the aircraft go through before it was marketed? etc. You can't expect any machine "designed" by humans to be 100% infallible. You, as the pilot, utilizing a mode of transportation that has risks must take some of the responsibility. If the company blatantly ignored a critical design flaw in order to meet production requirements or increase profits then "yes" I would sue them. If the company was unwilling to be completely cooperative in an investigation to determine the root cause of the design flaw then I would sue them. 15. I've read it. I just read it again. I find nothing in it that disputes what I have said. You have to read the rest of the Bible to understand the entire message. http://www.biblepath.com/beatitudes.html "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  16. Nope, not aimed at you. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  17. And some people seem to always be making slightly inflamatory attacks just waiting for someone to explode into a fight. I mean, why start harrassing people about guns in a fireworks thread if they are not trying to start a fight? "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  18. Jesus taught peace but he didn't rule out the necessity for war. I'm not going to try and teach you the Bible but look up these versus and read the entire text associated with them: [Matthew 10:34] Think not that I am come to send peace on earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword. -- Jesus [Luke 11:21] When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: [Luke 11:22] But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. [Luke 22:36] Then said He unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. [Rom 13:2] Whosoever therefore resisteth the power [of governments], resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. [Rom 13:3] For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: [Rom 13:4] For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. And this is just from the New Testament. This commandment is usually interpreted as thou shalt not murder. There is a difference between murder and killing according to most learned people. You have to understand those principals before you judge them against those principals. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  19. Well, I was on here only shortly before your cutoff date. I registered on "Aug 5, 2001, 7:23 AM ". I lurked for a few months before that. I've definately stopped posting personal items on this forum because of its growth and due to some of the types of people that post regularly. I also don't post here as regularly as I used to. Talkback just isn't as fun as it used to be (for me anyway). I think access to the technical aspects of skydiving has increased dramatically. The wealth of skydiving experience here is tremendous. DZ.com is my main source, away from the DZ, for skydiving related information but it has lost a lot of the feeling of community it used to have for me. Coupling these changes with a career change and a move to a different city has resulted in a dramatic decrease in my time on this board. I've went from a lurker to a participant and now almost back to a lurker. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

  25. I'm one. I hurt my back in Ranger School in 92. Then hurt it several more times as an infantryman for 9 years. After jumping my back is usually so sore I have trouble tying my shoes the next morning. I recently had a hard opening followed by injuring my back in training for my current job that kept me from jumping for 2 months. I've learned to deal with it. It doesn't bother me in freefall though. I'm sure I'll have to have surgery before I'm 50. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
