  1. It's both the CoP and the 3rd party liability insurance that comes with a valid membership, IIRC the latter is more important. And it should be good, but try explaining that to an ignorant manifester who doesn't want to hear anything other then 'Here's my proof of USPA membership' I got nuthin
  2. Please don't tell me that this means CAPS has force of law I got nuthin
  3. Certificate of Proficiency...It's a license, but we've got a fancy name for it. I got nuthin
  4. Dude that launch came off really clean, for the jump numbers it looks awesome! Ditto on all advice from other folks, if everybody is chasing everybody, then nobody ends up in the same place...Plan the dive, dive the plan....And backloops at breakoff can potentially cause problems I got nuthin
  5. It really depends on the DZ and S&TO at the DZ you visit. If people know you and your skills, that sometimes weighs more than a license. Some DZs in the US will take a CSPA membership and some will require you to buy a USPA membership. You might want to call ahead to ask so you don't get stuck with an unexpected bill before you're even allowed on a plane I got nuthin
  6. I was 18. It was my life for 5 years but now I'm out of it due to geographics. But tonight I applied for a new job that I'm thinking I've got. That'll mean moving back to Canada and SKYDIVING AGAIN!!! I got nuthin
  7. The power of the sport? Bringing two people back together after 10 years of bad blood? Love to hear shit like that! I got nuthin
  8. I'm kinda curious about the canopy you'll be jumping post-tandem. Will you be on a stilleto at 1.17 like your profile says? If you've never done a tandem or haven't done one since student status it's kinda wierd, getting in a plane without a rig. Hope you enjoy man, and get some good fun jumps in after! I got nuthin
  9. Hey Rob, Good suggestion on the touque, but I'm not sure how many people on here know what the hell it is. Go CANADA
  10. I agree here. It took some guts to say that, and the ability to admit that you've made a mistake is a helluva virtue in this sport. I think a lot of the stuff being talked about in this thread was summed up really well by Stratostar last month, in the thread below. Sorry if Stratostar or any greenies aren't big on this being here, I'll gladly take it offhttp://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_reply_write;parent_post_id=2859382 PS. I couldn't remember the name of Strat's thread, but I remembered the word 'Asshat' being used a bit. I searched all forums for 'asshat' to find it......Y'all use that word A LOT! I got nuthin
  11. ESC was my home DZ for a while, and Dave is a very experienced TM with well over 5000 jumps (he had over that when I left 4 years ago) and IIRC well over 1000 tandems. That asshole who's sueing is damb lucky he had Dave on his back! I got nuthin
  12. Out of a cessna solo I like to face the tail and hop off into a gainer, stall it for a second while on my back to flip a peace sign or the bird to anyone who may be in the door, then finish it off to come out on my bell. Or a toe-hang's always fun too I got nuthin

  14. If the buyer's not comfortable with waiting for you to decide you want it and then send the money, it might also be agreeable to find a neutral party (DZO or rigger) on his side to whom you can send the check. Once everybody's happy then your rigger has your rig and his DZO has his check. It's not 100% safe, but it's a little more likely to avoid being scammed on both sides. It kinda sucks that we've gotta be worried about shit like this within the community. On the plus side, as far as groups go, skydiving seems to have one of the lowest percentages of asshole I got nuthin
  15. If you are jumping in boots you might want to take some duct tape and give a wrap around the snag points. It's not that stylish or practical for a whole day's jumping, but it's a helluva lot better then getting a line stuck in there. I got nuthin
  16. I'd think generally speaking skydivers, as a group, would be even more likely to face a fire on the ground...But that is of course an after beer-light scenario I got nuthin

It would be easier to decide if you had some full-frontal nude shots. I got nuthin
  18. Please dude!!! I live in Venezuela and the only North American references I still have are dz.com and CNN. I hear enough about illegal Mexican immigrants on the latter. I got nuthin
  19. If I don't gotta do it for my own lazy ass I'm happy. I got nuthin
  20. Congrats dude! This thread got me thinking, I've never seen any online video of an SCR ceremony. I did a quick search on google, youtube and skydivingmovies.com, but didn't find anything. I'd love to be able to show some whuffos a what it's all about. Anybody got some they could upload? I got nuthin
  21. Call me an idiot, but WTF is an FTP? I got nuthin
  22. Maybe park in the street and walk into the DZ? I got nuthin
  23. Home is where the heart it Holy Freefall face Batman! I got nuthin
  24. I've got two from either side, all from 182s. We set it up on the step, with somebody holding Sluggo's PC IAD style. We just grabbed hold as well as we could on lift webs (obviously with great care to not grab handles or knock out Sluggo's pin) and rolled off, with Mr. Bill facing the pilot and Sluggo facing the wingtip. Did it 3 times with Mantas and 1 with a sabre 135. The Mantas are definitely the way to go if you've got a choice of the two I got nuthin
