I havn't been on the .com too much lately, especially in talkback, but I was driving last week and saw a field full of sheep...I thought of Clay and laughed my ass off I got nuthin

It just popped into my head that, as I had no idea how common this flight characteristic is, there's a chance that the Vision had something similar. Has anybody had experiences with both, and know how they compare? I got nuthin

I demoed a Crossfire 2 in Eloy...I definitely can't say I disliked it, but out of all the canopies I flew I liked the Vision the best. It opened nice, and I enjoyed what little flying I got to do, usually being first group out and doin' the old dump-n-run. I don't know if I can really say consistent is the word I'm looking for, as I only put 6 jumps on it, but my swoops were long by my standards for every jump, and I felt very comfortable from setup to touchdown. Pete, When I pack that thing I don't have to lay on it...I can just slide my hands up and push all of the air out. Maybe it's just the South African ZP, but I took that to mean it was baffed. I'm not planning on downsizing, I was going to untill I demoed a Vision 150 and saw the swoops I can get at my wingloading. Plus there's a lack of accuracy tuffets down here. How you liking the 96? I've got 430ish jumps and I load my blade-runner 150 @ 1.3. I'm getting better with my swoops, but that canopy is baffed and out of trim, time for something new. I demoed a Vision 150 and loved it, I'm waiting for the Katana to come out before I make my decision. Somebody told me to check out a Samurai, but when I looked at their site I saw something I'm not sure about. On their description of the canopy, under recovery arc, they say Is the part about the canopy staying in a dive, then 'bumping' the toggles to return to level flight a good thing. My understanding of the ideal swoop is riding the recovery arc and planing out accross the ground before even touching the toggles. I've only successfully done that a couple times when I actually felt the plane and rode it before getting on the toggles, but it was a good feeling. Wouldn't having to 'bump' the toggles at the start of the swoop bleed off at least some speed as well. It's very possible I just don't have a fucking clue what I'm talking about here, somebody who knows the canopy got any info? I got nuthin

I don't think my Cypres fire is applicable to any of the options. I chopped, pulled silver and saved my own ass, but my Cypres fired. From what my alti said I was too high for it to go (1500ft after I was under a good reserve and pointed for home) but the folks at Airtec say I was lower. It was an eye-opener and if I have another spinner I'm not gonna spend so long getting stable before I pull silver, but I saved my own ass (the loop wasn't cut), and I was aware throughout the entire ordeal. I definitely won't stop jumping over it, that was about 8 months ago I got nuthin

About 3 months ago I moved to Louisiana from Canada. Since moving, and a couple times before I moved, I'd jumped in the US without needing a USPA membership, as I had a CSPA, the Canadian equivelant. I was under the impression that an FAI affiliated membership would do at a USPA DZ. A couple of months after I moved I joined USPA, but before I recieved my card I was away on business and went to visit a couple of DZs. At the first place everything went smooth with my CSPA card, but when I went to the second they wanted my to buy a temporary USPA membership. I didn't feel I should have to as A: I was a member of an FAI affiliated organization with my CSPA card in hand, and B: I'd paid my USPA dues for a year already. After they insisted I needed USPA I asked if there was any way they could see if my membership had gone through. I was told that he'd already checked, and there was no Roger Archibald, only a Roger Patrick Archibald. He told me this while he had my license in his hand, with my middle name 'Patrick', right in front of his face. That alone is enough that I'm certain I was dealing with a retard, but I'm still wondering about the FAI thing. Were they justified in forcing me to buy a membership? If so, were the other 4 or 5 DZs I'd jumped at in the US breaking rules? I got nuthin

Okay, I'm heading to the Xmas boogie next Tuesday. I need to take a greyhound to Houston so I can fly out of George Bush Intercontinental. There's like 6 greyhound stations in Houston. Can anybody tell me which one is closest to the airport. Bues, Roger I got nuthin

Confused on the Increased Canopy Collisions...
lippy replied to RoysPlayThing's topic in The Bonfire
I'm the same way about snowboarding...It used to be as big a part of my life as jumping is now. But priorities changed. I sold my board for jump money, and don't regret it in the least. OTOH, if somebody doesn't want to get rid of everything else in their life and completely focus on jumping it doesn't mean the other stuff is a waste of time, as long as they're doing what they want. Just my $.02 I got nuthin -
I recently moved to the US and hit my new home DZ, Gold Coast Skydivers. On Sunday they pied a guy for his 1000th jump. Everybody gathered round, the DZO gave a speech explaining the ceremony and introducing Don to those who didn't know him, then he stood there and took the pies in the face. It was a pieing ceremony. Where I come from, when you're due for a pieing you usually don't get it the day you make the landmark jump. You get to wait and anticipate and worry, till one day you get grabbed by four or five people, and dragged kicking and screaming (a token struggle is appreciated) to an open area, where pies are shoved in your face, up your shirt and down your pants. I like that in Gold Coast's way the jumper keeps some dignity, but in the other way you get to surprise the person and pie the shit out of them. So what do you do at your home DZ??? I got nuthin

Don't know about the invasion. I'm moving to Louisianna right away here, so funds might be tight after setting up down there. I'll be hitting Eloy at some point for surely I got nuthin

Maybe doing this as a political stand in support of assisted suicide I can understand (and support). My take on this though is that the band wants to fill the house with a bunch of fucked up kids pumped on watching a death. That's just not cool. I got nuthin

I'm not sure about documentation, but when I was booking a ticket a couple months ago I asked about taking my rig as carry-on. They said it was fine as long as there wasn't an AAD, cause those things have an explosive in them. Legally, if you're flying in/out of Canada, you can't have a Cypres on the plane. I got nuthin

I got 77. Obviously they're not aware of my plans to downsize soon. I got nuthin

Please spare the 'Blame Canada' jokes that normally follow this sort of post. Transport Canada considers Cypres to be a dangerous item, not allowed on an airliner as carry-on or checked. Consider yourselves lucky. I got nuthin

I've got 345 jumps, and I still get that voice every once in a while asking what the F^&K I'm doing. Sometimes it's very loud, sometimes it's quiet, and sometimes it's just not there. My advice is to ask yourself if you feel confident with your skills, the skills of others your jumping with and your equipment. If the answer is yes than it's time to rock. If not, maybe it's a good time to reconsider that particular skydive(prefferably before boarding the plane). I got nuthin

Somebody out there must know about this. I've heard much about a video from AZ called 'the bastard'. Supposed to be funny as hell, but I can't find it anywhere's online. Anybody know where it can be obtained. I got nuthin

For the past 50 or so jumps I've been front risering on to final. A while ago I started doing 180s. I'd start more than high enough, and always finish on double fronts, slowly working it down. Then I got a little smarter this weekend and went back to 90s, as I was at an unfamiliar DZ and there was a little more traffic than I'm used to. I went back to my home DZ and did a 4-way, and had planned on just a 90, but as I was coming in the 180 was just there. I started the turn with the intention of tapping the 5x5x2ft accuracy tuffet on the way by. I came out of the turn way too low, barely got a half-assed flare to slow down just a touch before I nailed the tuffet. The tuffet is made out of 4 pads, each probably weigh about 50 pounds. One of them took a pretty good flying leap after I hit it, landed a good way out. I went end over end a few times, at one point my feet were in my lines while still airborne, and landed with a decent thud. I'm extremely grateful that I got nothing more out of this then a sore foot, shoulder, and a lesson learned. I fucked up royally and am the first to admit it. I'm gonna go back to what I should've been doing all along...No more than a 90 onto final untill I've got them 100% dialed in. Lesson learned: If you're gonna hook it low, aim for the tuffet I got nuthin

2:5:2 Five jumps, last of which left me extremely sore. First botched hook turn. The other beer is related to the first number. Those mechanics better learn to lock the plane over the weekends I got nuthin
