I will swear by the cf2 it awesome canopy! -YOSHI _________________________________________ this space for rent.

but that is exactly what it is is a blanket statement, not something to hold true to. I dont think what icarus was saying is that the exact wingload for every weight person with all different body shapes is 1.85.... I think what they were saying is in a genral blanket statement that the optimum performance can be reached with that WL. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

fallrate has one on his rig. kinda sick lookin, but he is kinda sick in the head..:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

When speaking with the manufacturer I was told that 1.85 is the optimum wing load for the cf2. I have jumped them at 1.6 to 2.0 and mine at 1.82 seems to be optimum for me. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

high grips work the best...try to make that as solid as possible -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I would be completely stable in your sit/ stand before trying. but when it is only 3 people (2 bellies and a hanger) its much easier. dont try to do 4 way base with 2 hanges especially if the hangers have never done it before... you will be off on time and it will funnel... (not cracking down on ya, you might actually get it, but you will do it much better if you try the 3 way first) we just launch a 3 way belly jump (2 way line and the third docking on harnesses) once stable on the bellies, the hanger (now docked on the harnesses) switches grips to the chest straps and***pop*** stand up.... when releasing jsut let go and stay in the stand for a min while sliding forward or backward to get out from underneath the bellies and then do your track... dont go directly belly under anyone...(even though they are on thier bellies theyare moving at ff speeds because of you hangin, so you can see the obvious problems that may occur...) try to get someone who has done it before to explain it all in person... -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

its all a matter of the pilot, and who you ask (ask the manufacturer and they will say thiers is the best) that being said of the non crossbraced canopies the crossfire 2 is the best -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I wasnt saying that the slider keep would do it. I doubt that most of the designs could hold that much tension, but once a slider is stowed, I would say that it is still very probable in the event of a mal at that point to get it caught on the helmet (or items sticking out and catch points on the helmet). I dont think if you have a velcro slider keep it would hang up unless its 10x10 inches and really really mushed in just my 2 ones -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

That is yet another example of why not to totally rely on audibles or anything for that matter... keep your alti awareness and dont soley rely on something that can malfunction. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I learned that even if I am not a skygod or have a huge vast amount of experience in the sport I can still chew out people who have more and less experience than myself for doing stupid things....2 times this weekend I witnessed 1: an a licenced skydiver (while under my own canopy stowing my slider) initiate deployment sequence at 2k feet and snivel right by me about 75 yards away... and 2: a "D" licenced skydiver do the same thing only his canopy was open at 1.2k... both graciously accepted my criticism and appreciated me giving them a shit for what they did... -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I ordered custom colors and size (111 sq ft) and I ordered it at the end of november (2002) and got it in december. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I am sorry to hear what you have experienced. I am a firm believer in icarus. My experienced with simon and everyone over there have been nothing but the best. In fact when my cf1 was recalled they let me demo a canopy until it was fixed and when I ordered my new crossfire 2 it took literally 4 weeks to the day from the time I ordered it to the time it was on my doorstep. If you havent yet I would get ahold of simon and let him know whats up... he will at the minimum give you an explanation for what happened. jsut my 2 cents -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I have done a hand full of high alti jumps (23k) and I wouldnt want to go any higher.. I prob wont do anymore 23k jumps.. my head isnt all that sensitive to jumping, but the last one I did I had a headache for 2 hours and my ears were ringing for about 30 min afterwards... Ill just take several jumps from 13.5 instead.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

Would you pay the re-pack if you packed a mal for a friend?
Yoshi replied to tosca's topic in Gear and Rigging
ohh yeah.. well I have been trying to forget about that one.. I didnt pay for the repack, but I did pay for a new pilot chute and free bag... that was actually my fault, toms fault and jonny's fault.. mine since I packed it, toms since he told me how to do it, and jonnys for not checking it.. ahh well.. hes ok and back in richmond so all is good:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. -
I agree and my 1 landing to date with only rears was on a light to no wind day (which I was actually hoping for...for more of a realistic worse cased senario) and it was pretty easy to set down. I think rears are kindof like toggles they are sometimes tricky when learning how to do it, but once you have got it down its just second nature. I dont feel that rears are more difficult than toggles on a swoop (granted its one more thing to physically grab) but if you fly with toggles in hand then if you mis judge the risers you can switch fairly easily to toggles... the first 5 or so jumps using rears I only used them to plane out the canopy and then immediately switched to toggles.. not I am finding myself about 50-75% thru my swoop before I let up and as I stated in a few cases waiting until the very last drop of energy is there to pop the flare on the toggles. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

Yoshi replied to tosca's topic in Gear and Rigging
nope.. I would give them thier 5 bucks back (or not have them pay for it), but mals happen (knock on wood for me as well) but thankfully I havent done that yet.... -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. -
well if you have a wife like mine............skydiveing just kidding... two different arenas I say, sometimes I would rather skydive and sometimes I would rather shag... although if I had to give one up for the rest of my life... hmmmmmm well then I would hope my hand doesnt count -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
