there are usually a handfull of peeps doing the trip to indy mon morn... and sun night. I am sure if no one commits on here to giving you a ride that someone will be willing to give you a lift. it is a very very nice atmosphere in Richmond and everyone seems to get along...all disciplines alike. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I live in indy and will be heading back monday afternoon/night. if all else fails I may be able to get you to indy sometime monday. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I sure there will be some qualified jumpers there... I think there were a few balls being jumped last year (in the air and at the bon fire:) if you show up and have a little extra cash to flip a ball master I am sure (if you can do the flying) that you will walk away with your ad-a.... see ya there? -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

ahhhh I see. and I was thinking you meant like a chaser dive... or monkey see dive. we do those from time to time with elsser experienced freefliers... when they flail we all flail...and we jsut follow them zooming across the sky:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

How Long Did It Take For Your "A"?
Yoshi replied to Fireflyer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
took me 1.5 years. took a while off for back packing europe for 2.5 months, and a road trip across usa. and starting college, but now I am averaging abotu 150-200 jumps per year, and hopefully more now that I am moving to HOUSTON in 2 weeks and can jump YEAR ROUND!!!! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. -
that is an awesome plane. 7 min to alti and holds 10 jumpers (I think). the only thing I dont like about it is the small door. ahh well just no launching of big chunks:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I start with both front risers on my downwind leg then slowly let one up and asses wether or not I need more input for the dive vs the turn. once I get around to my 180 degree carver I usually stick back into double fronts for a second (or fraction of depending on alti) and then let the canopy plane out (with rears assist if needed) I do this so I can start a bit higher than snaping just one riser, and the slow 180 turn with double fronts seems to build as much speed as a 270 carver with just one riser. I like this approach as it gives me plenty of time to asses landing traffic and where I am going to end up as well as gives me a little extra alti to find outs if needed. I fly a crossfire II loaded at 1.85 -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I have been practicing my crew/ down planes this past weeked and held one to approx 650 feet! it was sooooooo fun! cant wait to meet new peeps and get some great dives in! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

It was great this past weekend. did another 7 crew dives and held that down plane to about 650 feet. the best thing is the guy that I was jumping with usually flies a saphire 169 ...he weighs 150 w/o gear. anyways we landed and he said "damn when we break off from the down plane its just like swooping!........well I dont swoop, but I imagine that is what it would fee like!" had me floored... have fun, be safe, and hopefully see some of ya at Richmond "THE" Boogie. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I did a bachelor jump (my bachelor party at the dz lasted all weekend.) and I was holding a blowup doll and there were 4 naked gals that joined me. was pretty fun, but not something I would do on a regular basis. (I would on the otherhand jump with naked girls on a regular basis) :) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I cant wait myself. I jsut may have to call in sick on friday to come out thurs eve... I think I feel a little cold comming on anyways:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I do agree with you to a point. I dont think someone on thier first few jumps should take a wrap, but with more exsperienced jumpers I think it is fairly common (especially with some accuracy peeps) to use this method to get a little more flare out of the canopy. (taking in consideration of course it is a fairly large f111 canopy) just my 2 ones like I said... I dont think its the best idea for a lowtimer -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

***what I mean is that you'll never wrap your hands around the steering lines for a landing so what's the point of knowing how the canopy behaves in that configuration?*** Actually I do take a wrap from time to time. not on my canopy, but when I jump lightly loaded student canopies they land much better with a little wrap. also when I was doing crew this past weekend (and not to be taboo or call upon any bad karma by using the term wrap in the same sentence:)...the canopy (cruiselite 245) seemed to land better with a wrap as well on the brake lines. on the student canopies we set the brakes a little deep to make it harder to stall them so when landing them, for more experienced pilots, you can get a little more out of it with a wrap. ahh well just my 2 ones... I think its also just as easy to drop a toggle as it is to drop the wraps... just take the wraps around your hand just like the toggle not around your wrists. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

thats sweet. because of the way we had our leg locks it twisted us in our harnesses a little and made us turn all the way down! it was so fun. I didnt want to let go and use a toggle, so I just gripped tight and held on for the ride of my life. pretty cool you held it for 3k...I wonder if anyone as riden one all the way down from alti...that would be cool...initiate it at 10 k and hold it to like 500 feet. I bet your legs would be pretty damn tired after that though! have fun and be safe! yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

Actually Vern alexander, aka freeflyswc, is now the owner of paraquip (Steve Alexanders son). you can contact him thru here, or thru skygod7777 (kelly) who is also on here a little more than vern who is always around vern. (I think they are lovers j/k) and the above joke by lew still applies:):) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. -
ok I got the down plane 3 times this weekend and also a 3 stack!!!! it was so much fun. when my buddy and I held a down plane for 2k feet we released at about 1500 feet (yeah I know we can hold it longer but we are mere crew pups) we landed and were rushing with adrenaline as if we jsut did our first skydive. thanks for the tips on the leg locks. cant wait until we can get the seting up down so we can hit that down plane right over the landing area and hold it till like 500 feet. its down the road a bit, but jsut looking forward to it. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

schweeeeet! :) cant wait only 1.5 WEEKS UNTIL SKYDIVING BLISS:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
