  1. javelin oddessey. unless I get sponsored I will never buy anything else:):) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  2. my first eliptical canopy that I owned was a crossfire 149 that I bought when I had about 70 jumps (1.3 wingload) first jump on eliptical was jump number 40 something on a stiletto 190 at 1.05 wingload. did a handfull of jumps on that then a 170 then I jumped mine... not the progression that I would suggest for anyone though... it was a really fast progression and I am lucky I didnt get hurt... -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  3. I am not sure about the physics, but i would say no... when you use one riser you are turning which makes you "swing" to the outside...if you get the riser down too far it might make that side of the canopy do some funky stuff, but I dont think that you would fall thru it. jsut my 2 ones -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  4. I could be wrong but I was under the impression that the computer sets something maybe to the distributer or something that would effect the gas milage???? not really sure completely... I jsut remember reading something like that in my owners manual. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  5. I picked under 5... I did one this weekend in about 4.5 but it was pretty sloppy (opened nice though) I usually go about 5-6 min if I am not in a rush... if I am hanging out and talking maybe a bit longer.. packed about 500 rigs mine is a crossfire 2 111, but I can do a 149 jsut as fast:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  6. its not necessarily for engine break in now adays but more so to set the computer... if you srive the shiznit out of a car in the first several hundred miles the computer sets for its optimum gas milage at those speeds. if you drive normally then it will set for that.. the reason they say now not to drive like a bat out of hell is so in 6 months you're not wasting through gas like water when you ARE using cruise control... they dont usually say a speed not to go to, but not to take it over a certain rpm....(something like 3500 rpms as when I recently bought a new infinity g-35) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  7. with enough practice the pack jobs get MUCH FASTER.. I timed one this weekend 9and though it was a bit sloppy, but had a nice opening) took me 4.5 minutes to pack... fun fun fun! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  8. pack jobs I have always seen at $5. Michele: you pay more for a bigger chute? wether its a 120 or a 288 manta pack jobs are $5 from me... bringing packers lunch and water?!?! that would be awesome.. I dont pack for pay all day long that often, but when I do lunch and drinks and stuff would be cool... I do ask that when I pack to have your brakes set and the slider unstowed, but if they are not done Ill do it:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  9. anyone and everyone that has delt with a company will have something good/bad to say about it.. personally I have had nothing but the best experiences with icarus (even though my crossfire 1 was on the recall list) it was all delt with very professionally and quickly. (even providing me with a demo while it was being fixed) and others will say that they hate icarus... whatever your mood (since I jsut blabbered out) start a new thread this is about the crossfire and the vengance... the crossfire 2 I believe is the highest performance non crossbraced canopy on the market. if you are looking for swoops and speed without dealing with a crossbraced canopy the crossfire is prob the best bet... but that is just my 2 cents! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  10. I dont expect a tip persay, but I (like aggie) give a little more "love" to the people who do tip. thiers will come first if in a rush. paying for the work... so do you tip waitresses and waiters? they get paid a very minimal hourly wage... do you tip a valet parking guy? they get paid hourly. do you tip the guy in the bathroom giving towels and gum..perhaps a sprits of smell good at a nice restraunt or club? Like I said though...I dont expect a tip and I wont by any means not do as good of a pack job even if I am shorted money, but when in a rush the "good customers" come first... and the Mr. Pink's come last:) (I think it was Mr. Pink... in resevoir dogs at the beggining... you know who I mean) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  11. I guess this is for anyone who uses packers now and then. I usually pack my own stuff, (unless someone owes me a packjob from a bet or something)...But I do pack a handfull for others and I have noticed that usually the tips are slim. There are a handfull of people that I pack for that always tip and do it well. so also (unless you are trying to hide something) put in how much you usually tip. btw: at boogies I sometimes hire packers and for 5 pack jobs Ill pay anywhere from $27-$35 depending on the OPENINGS. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  12. no canopy out is best for speed:) 2.2 on a crossfire 2 isnt optimum. 1.85 is... 2.2 may be opti on a crossbraced canopy... depends on the type of canopy... -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  13. I would say that with the exact same type of canopy as you go smaller (to an extent) it will get lighter.. when I demo'd a 119 crossfire one it was much lighter riser pressure than my crossfire one 149. riser pressure on my crossfire 2 111 is a little bit higher than that on my brothers crossfire 2 105 (not really noticable, but it is there) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  14. I think what he is talking about is making sure that the brake lines are set correctly, but I could be wrong. I think even opening at terminal that would be fine..I dont really get why any manufacturer would suggest non termi openings for any number of jumps...other than opening high to make sure that the canopy flies right and the the brakes are set correctly. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  15. I put out my first (yes beer) static liners this weekend. it was really fun. On sat I taught the fjc and then on sunday (since the weather was jumpable) I stated working on my proficiency fard for the s/l rating. It was great to see the s/l ers faces when they got out on the strut.. (not to mention the instructor that went with me to oversee the operations) when he took the "students" role and completely screwed up (on purpose...at least I hope) and had me regergitate everything he did once on the ground... had a blast and cant wait to get my "I" !!! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

cool. sounds good.. I am actually looking to move in early late august or maybe even before that. not sure yet.. I cant wait to be there though I had a great time the weekend I made it out to spaceland. so is krista still looking for a manifestor? do you have any idea what the pay is like? I will most likely transfer and stay with bank one (which is who I currently work for) but who knows... good to hear from ya! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  17. I have always carried mine on in a back pack. take your cypress card to show them what it will look like thru the x-ray... explaine your a fun jumper and I havent had a problem yet. I have also called several times to the airline speaking with various different people to make sure the policy has nothing against parachutes... just call the airline and explain your dilema and get peoples names and direct numbers for refference -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  18. before releaseing the toggles pull the slider all the way down to the "V" in the risers. loosen the chest strap and voila! if it is below the toggles then once you grab them the slider cant go back up unless you let go of the brakes.. make sense? thats what I do anyways.. then I roll the slider as tight as I can and pull it behind my head.. only takes like 4 seconds and you can steer with your harness to help set up which you are doing everything else.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

  20. I am well the one on the right:) those sunglasses were like 5 bucks or something and I drilled a hile in then base of the arms to put a bungee thru it.. I use the bungee when I dont where a helmet or with my freefly helmet, but on my full face (without a lens in it) I jsut tuck m in and they stay nice and put... not too much air gets thru, but I do have to clean them every 2-3 jumps from what I guess is tears that mess up the lenses.. maybe its just snot -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  21. nothing statisticly, just my own stupid antics with no real reasons to back it up... plus I fortunately have the means for when I want new gear to get new gear rather than used, so that helps.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  22. if it were my own reserve then I would know what the openings were like and I most likely would use it as long as my rigger gave me the go-ahead. I just wouldnt want to buy a reserve that I didnt ride the cut-away. its just a personal deal... basically if a reserve had one ride and was inspected then I might buy it, I understand if it has 2 rides and is inspected it verywell might be as good as one with no rides or with 1 ride, but I would rather (if I got a used one which is unlikely anyways) it to have only 1 or less jumps... just a silly mentality I have... I am not saying though that a reserve with 3-4 rides cant be jumped, just if it were not mine and I actually didnt experience the reserve rides myself then I wouldnt want that canopy.. nuf said I feel like I am being really redundant..sorry for those of you who are still reading -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  23. the mount should have come with the protrack... you can zip tie it thru some hole drilled into the helmet (I would also put a little gaffers tape around it for added security) if you dont have one you can email l&b and I am sure they will send one for no charge.. they are only second best in service compared to a mother:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  24. in the perfect situation a s/l jumper can reach "freefall" on his 6th jump. at our dz you start off with 2 regular s/l's and then to prcp/drcp's (practice/dummy rip cord pulls) where you have a ripcord that is not used to activate anything other than get the muscle memory and body position to correctly pull.. you have to do at least 3 satisfactory prcps in a row to go on to a clear and pull (usually 3500-4000 feet where you actually pull your own ripcord or throw out. that is the first "free fall" on jump 6. I did the s/l progression and it took me 7 jumps until I did the clear and pull. then you go to 5 sec delays then to 10 second delays and up and up. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
  25. I wouldnt buy a reserve with more than one ride personally.. but if you feel comfortable with it and the riggers compentence when inspecting it then I say go for it.. jsut because a reserve was deployed doesnt mean its toast, jsut have a rigger look it over very carefuly (as all of them shoudl anyways) to ensure it is airworthy. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
