In the United States we have to abide by the rules of the FAA. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Peggy Ryan inspired me the most. She was a lady I worked with. Me, her and another girl from work decided we wanted to go skydiving. We did AFF for our first jump. (I have no idea why). Anyway, I hated my first jump. When my JM was telling me about level 2, I just looked at him like you're nuts if you think I'm gonna throw myself out of an airplane again. Peggy wanted to go back and do level 2 so I said hey, I'll give it another shot since Peggy had such a great time on her skydive I must have missed something. Needless to say, 1400+ jumps later I am still skydiving. Unfortunately Peggy suffered from manic depression and passed away a few years later after I moved. I miss her. Okay, in your profile, one of your interests is YOUR GIRLFRIEND. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Raped? Why would anyone pull "shit" on someone who was raped. What's wrong with you? Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Even though I skydive, I have a fear of flying. My fear is not of falling, but flying. I am very uncomfortable in a jump plane until we are 1000 ft. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

who has actually made serious $$$ from skydiving?
jlmiracle replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Parachutist used to publish a list of occupations including skydiving. It basically said if you choose to make your living skydiving, you will be living below the poverty line. What do you consider serious money? I know some people who did the skydiving thing, lived in a trailer and kept their expenses down and said they had more money than they had before (when they had a house, car, utilities, etc.) but just not all the the material items, then there are those that can't make enough to eat that week. I just got my "new" card last week. My last one expired over a year ago and they never sent me a new one. So when this one showed up I called to tell them to close my account. They asked why and all that blah blah and I just said close my account and then he said but if you close this account it will hurt your credit rating. I started laughing out loud - he didn't like that and finally said he would close it. It doesn't have the cool picture of skydivers anymore so why would I want it. Oh, I know. Because then we have to decided what is a swoop and what isn't. I don't consider any of my landings swoops but someon else might. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Hell, half the time jumpers can't even follow the landing direction set by the first jumper down in main landing areas. Dave, remember you are a skydiver too. We all seem to flake out at some point. Just most of do it on the ground. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I know what you mean cause they/we can't manage to fly a left hand pattern consistantly, why would they/we be able to remember what landing area to go to. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

So, if you're going to have two landing areas, here's the question: Who gets the close, right across the street, no-walk landing area??? Do you give it to the swoopers because it has a special taxi way and the other hazards that experienced jumpers can more easily handle, while sending the more conservative jumpers down the road to the bigger wide open field (with a walk)? OR Do you give it to the conservative pilots because swoopers don't "have" to swoop, so why should the conservative pilots have to walk because they don't want to hook? Because of a few near misses, we've been fighting over this for about 3 years now. And no one can seem to figure out a compromise. I bring this up because we have the room to make an alternate field, but we still haven't done it. So, what do we do? Not wanting to alienate customers is a bitch, isn't it? I've argued this also. I am all for 2 seperate landing area's, especially if someone is going to land downwind. The majority if not all the local swoopers are very considerate at our dz and either land first or last, unless there is a window of opportunity to land without hindering someone else. I don't like the swoopers going over building and especially over people, but that seems unstoppable. Its hard to tell a jumpers to follow the landing person of the first person that lands if they land down wind. People should be happy to walk back from any skydive. If they can't handle the walk, they certainly don't need to skydive. And a solution to who has to walk the furthest, alternate. Saturday, the conservatives get the closer landing are and Sunday the conservatives get the further landing area. For 7 day a week dz's. work it out. Just my 2 cents. It would be on a gold closing pin, like for a necklace, not on your rig. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Take out the diamonds and have it put in a nice closing pin for you or pawn it and use it for jump money. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I saw a girl get caught between the RR crossing arms and instead of pulling forward, she backed up having to make some very tight turns. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I agree with Dave on this one for sure. Especially if you are giving advice in other forms such as safety and training, gear are rigging and general skydiving. I want to know what your experience level is in order to consider your opinion. I know that may sound a little harsh but there are alot of new jumpers that read here and don't need to get some bad and/or dangerous advice from some nut case. In general talk back a persons profile doesn't mean much except for maybe where they are located, depending on the topic. But like you said Dave, its nice to know who you are talking to. I figure I don't have to worry about stalkers cause down here in the south, we all have guns and I think its been made pretty clear in several posts. I had to jump in a pool with an old rig on and they threw the canopy over me. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Okay, after this weekend - peewee just lost my vote. I understand this happens to other dz's, but it is wrong and it interfers with my freedom. So the Pres is in Mississippi and some crazy women drives into the building where he is with her 3 children, and is taken away kicking and screaming (she had a nervous breakdown) the SS were holding her young children at gunpoint.. Now shortly after that happened, we are climbing to altitude and around 9000 ft, Mike tells us we have to land. Okay so the restrictions are 30 miles out. We are 40 miles out. Their problem was not flying the plane, but dropping the jumpers. Some SS guy thinks it is possible for us to float 40 miles into the wind and do something. So on the news that night the head of the SS states that the president was NEVER in any danger. So why did they stop us? I'm pissed off cause I don't like landing in planes, any of them. They shut us down for an hour. I know that's nothing compared to other dz's that are close to his vacation spots. If the goverment officials can't travel without disrupting the general public, then they don't need to travel. Done whinning. Judy p.s I thought this was a better place to rant then to send a letter to the SS explaining to them their lack of common sense. It all depends on who he is running against. We are left voting for the lesser of the 2 evils, which I'm tired of voting that way, but if you don't vote, you don't get to bitch about it. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

If it hadn't been for cloudy days at the dz, I probably would have never shot a gun yet. I'm really bad at it though. We have lots of "gun freaks" at our dz, and if they aren't a gun freak then they are an explosives freak. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Someone holds a Chute and Shoot contest every year. I believe Skymonkeyone knows all about it. But I don't think you get to shoot while you are under canopy. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

your welcome but I though Jackie ate all 700+ of the jello shots herself. Did you see her bag of puke? Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I had a roommate once that smashed the front of my car and she just went and parked like nothing happened. I finally found out if was her and took her to small claims court. I had 3 estimates. At court she never denyed doing it so I won but she appealed and won the appeal because my witness (her x-boyfriend) went up there to testify and slumped in the chair and spoke poorly. Get pictures, ask around for witnesses and best of luck. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Do you wear your helmet during take off and landing?
jlmiracle replied to dgskydive's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yeah, ditto for me. -
Did I ask you for a gear check?
jlmiracle replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Do you have eyes in the back of your head. Your profile shows you have 51 jumps and YOU are checking your pin? Maybe that's why someone took it upon themselves to check for you. Didn't someone else who said they check their own pin on the airplane recently have a premature? Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
