    We had a guy at our dz, same problem, ratchet thingy broke, shield flew off in freefall and it was on an RW jump. It happened to him again, but I believe he was sit flying. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

    I consider a few times to be 2-3 times. The USPA has currency requirements which we follow. I don't care how good you think you are, if you are uncurrent you WILL be going through a refresher. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

    There is a difference between someone who ONLY WANTS to jump a few times a year and those who are just unable (financially, time, injury, family) to make a few jumps a years. Again, as I interpreted the questions, I thought it was for someone who wants to skydive (start) and only make a few (2-3) jumps per year. Now if we are talking about a fun jumper (licensed) as long as you do a refresh, if you are uncurrent by the USPA standards, and don't fly a small canopy. What I've seen as a problem, alot of people think they are the exception to the rule as far a currency and shouldn't have to pay or even do the recurrency jump.     I never did a tandem until after I had over 500 jumps. In fact my first jump was a solo jump from 3200'. There are few instances where somebody should be forced to do a tandem as opposed to any other type of jump. I did my first tandem as a passenger with over 500 jumps. The question/poll was very vague. I took it as if someone wants to skydive (start) and only WANTS make a few (2-3) jumps per year, then I suggested a tandem, as to 5-7 hours of training each time you show up at the dz. There is a big difference between only wanting to make a few jumps a year and only able to make a few jumps a year.     Sorry for the late reply - I've actually been busy at work. I took the question as someone starting and only wants to jumps literally 2 times a year, then babbled on about a kinda different topic - currency for sport jumpers. I know skydiving is expensive and its hard to get out alot, especially just making it through AFF or your A license now. I have no problem if someone wants to pay for the an AFF class and AFF jump everytime they come out. I would just hope they could make it out more than 2 times a year so they could actually improve on their skills as opposed to just life saving skills. (I'm sure this will be taken out of context) Judy Over my years in skydiving (only 7) I've seen lack of currency almost kill several people.     That is funny, but I don't think it would work during a Minnesota winter. I lived there for 29 years and I used to see people pee mostly in the parking ramps or the elevators in the parking ramps. I never realized it was "serious" problem.     Method A. If they don't want to show up for the dirt dive, then cut them off that skydive. It is the only way people will learn. It is very inconsiderate to the rest of the group to be late to a dirt dive. If you use method B you have to be certain everyone will actually show up for the dirt dive with enough time to get though it and through it well Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

    Did he not think his heart would explode without the coke? damn We had a group of tandems show up at 9:00 a.m. one guy, who I saw drive up, gets out of his car holding a beer and his very pregnant wife. Couldn't believe it. We had one guy walk up to him and ask him if he was here to to do a tandem, he said yes, then we explained to him and the rest of his group that HE would not be doing a tandem today and if anyone else in their group has been drinking, they will not be going also. As far as pilots smoking pot, I've never seen it because all the pilots I know either want to fly for an airline/cargo company and I was under the impression they are all drug tested.     I'm thinking someone watched Fandango recently. {Truman} "Do you want some dude, it will help you relax". We often get bizzare calls at the dz after that move and Dropzone has aired. Some people want to skydive and some people want to know if we have drugs. And Ivan, hasn't this been hacked up a few times before?     My opinion: Well, first off the school should not have this award unless they have an American American award. IMO, the kid was completely in the right for running. All hell would break loose if we had a white person only award, but there seems to be quite a few black only awards. Just doesn't seem fair.     I have always wanted a Sheba Inu. A friend even went and bought a book about them for me because I wouldnt shut up about them. More than likely will never get one. I'm not a good pet owner. I let dogs run my life. I ususally make them sick from all the doggy treats I would give before I could leave the house guilt free. I can't discipline a dog cause they look at you with those big eyes, and I just can't get mad at them. I LOVE ALL PUPPY DOGS!     You may get tired of it. Skyvans(my perspective) Noisy. Stinky. Hot (low airflow) Hard to spot. PITA Door. Did I mention Noisy? Scary to land with. Much prefer Twin Otters, and believe it or not, the Cessna Caravan and Grand Caravan are still my favorite A/C to jump! You really need to be a women to completely appreciate the skyvan (with benches). Sit close to pilots and you can actually finish.     I was originally told to learn to fly without them. I did, but I don't preach it. You need your own jumpsuit. You can order without booties and have them put on later or buy a whole new suit with booties later. Now, if you are going to get one without and add later, you will be without your jumpsuit for a while. Just something to think about. I have become a bit bootie dependent.     No, I hadn't heard. But that begs the question: "is Clownburner on the reality show too?" Ciels- Michele I don't know about Clownburner, but he is on the show with Tammy Faye Baker-whatever her new last name is. This may be the reality show I watch.
