I flew out of LAX Monday. I checked my rig and had no problems when we told them its parachutes. We were asked to step to the side in case they needed to open it, after it goes through the machine. The TSA lady was very nice and said there were new SOP's for parachutes, which include NOT CUTTING ANYTHING. She said it was a new procedure - obviously the "memo" on the new SOP for parachutes was not distributed as promptly as we all thought. I think this is a question for every jumper, not just TM. Just think of how many times jumpers get hurt and who are the first people to help them, we are. Should all jumpers be required to disclose to the DZ if they have a contagious disease? Should it be part of waiver? I don't really know how to answer the question(s). Because I think I have a pretty good understanding on how one contracts HIV, but I also know how ignorant some people are and would treat that person differently. Its a tough question. wasnt this supposed to have been communicated before hand? thats govt beauracracy for you I flew out of LAX yesterday and they said they had a NEW procedure for parachutes. They have just been given the new SPO for parachutes which include NOT CUTTING anything. The TSA lady told me that, and she was very nice. Billvon made a good statement about the guys back there with bolt cutters cutting locks off bags and get carried away or maybe they think its some sort of new lock. Anyway, they have been told not to cut. judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

OMG, there was one of these in Minnesota several years ago, but the guy died and the chick was found in the backseat with his dick in her mouth. Even better, the WIFE of the guy sued the woman giving the BJ for killing him. I don't remember the outcome, but I would bet they settled cause the lady with the dick in her mouth didn't need that kind of bad press. I flew out of LAX yesterday. We check in with Northwest and then are sent to have our bags run through the machine. TSA asks if we have firearms, etc., we say no but we do have parachutes. She says okay and informs the other guys that there are parachutes coming through and there is a NEW procedure. I was getting a little nervous. She just asked us to step to the side and wait for our stuff to clear. We chatted for a bit and she commented about they weren't suppose to cut anything anymore or unpack it. YEAH!! Rigs were cleared and no problems. The TSA is being told what to do with parachutes, I just don't think everyone is reading the memo's. I don't check my helmet cause Northwest destroyed one and I left my audible in. The audible was questioned, I explained what it was he said fine, and sent me on my way. Just wanted to let ya'll know my experience and they (the TSA) ARE being told. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

If they insisted, I would let them, then they will be charged for the repack and they probably won't be able to jump that day because now the rig they were doing to jump will have be be repacked and, unless its raining, its probably not gonna happen until after sunset. But then what, are they going to what to check the next pack job, and so on and so forth. They will never get to jump but some rigger is going to make alot of money. Also, if they are not a rigger or an experienced skydiver, are they really gonna know right from wrong? Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

It worked for me. But that kid needs an attitude adjustment. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

So then, to them, a stapler would be a staple putter inner? I'm gonna use that next time some asks to use my stapler puller outer. Thanks Turtle. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

You are like the first person who actually said stapler REMOVER instead of stapler puller outer. Keep enjoying your stapler REMOVER. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

and the pilot should also let us know when the group ahead of us is at 45 degree angle so we know when to exit. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

How often do you get scared skydiving?
jlmiracle replied to drakeshelby's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I can definately relate to that. I almost threw up last time I had to land with the plane (all because GWB). Landing with a plane just isn't natural anymore. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -
that's because they don't make toliet paper, or beer, or food, or... Now get back to whatever you are suppose to be doing hippie. BTW - I have your swim suit. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Really? Cause we have had nothing but great service through Sony. My husband broke the lense on his video camera climbing out of the plane once, and he called them, let them know EXACTLY what happened and they originally said, sorry its not under warranty, but right before the delivered the fixed camera, they called us and said its covered. We have all sony products in our house. If they made toliet paper, my husband would buy it. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

How often do you get scared skydiving?

I get scared every time I watch you jump. I am very scared in the airplane until we are at an altitude I can get out at and the a fully open canopy over my head. I don't like flying. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -
You are so right. There is only so much a JM can do. It's up to each and everyone one of us that skydives to save our own life. That is one thing that really sticks out from my training almost 8 years ago. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN LIFE. That was stressed often (I think because the questions we were asking). Someone with a DZ.COM account tried to get me fired today
jlmiracle replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in The Bonfire
This person is a butt nut asshat. Sounds like penis envy to me. (done with childish remarks) I can't stand people that do crap like this. Good luck in finding out who it is and have fun making their life miserable. If you need suggestions, I'm sure the people here would be happy to help you out with suggestions. Can you name one good thing about Bush and Kerry?
jlmiracle replied to airdweller's topic in The Bonfire
Bush makes me laugh sometimes. Kerry has nice hair. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -
And how tall was she? I was looking at the weight and height. There is nothing wrong with wearing lead. If an AFF instructor decides to add weight to ensure a safe fall rate he should do it. Alas I am not an AFF instructor, but I am sure there are a number out there that would back me up on this. Adding lead to a student is an absolute last resort at our dz. If there is no other way to stay with them then put some lead on them, but we've had some really light students and the JM's just dress for success. Haven't had to put lead on a student yet. Student rigs are heavy and uncomfortable enough without throwing weights at them. Judy Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

As it should. As I see it that's not the issue. The issue is the President's choice to attend a sporting event - one he could watch in comfort at the White House without impacting anyone's livelihood. Personally I don't feel that appearing at or attending a sporting event is something that is required of the President, nor do I feel it is appropriate considering how many people will be not just inconvenienced but also hurt financially by the increased security required for him to be there. I agree with you completely Lisa. Does he not realize how disruptive his presence is on the general public. He shut us down once. I don't know if I could vote for a person like that.
