  1. It may be large but that's what I was taught under because that was the only student canopies they had. Not all DZ's have the luxury of having multiple rigs and canopies for all shapes and sizes. Unstable - I've seen more experienced instructors put students much further away, don't beat yourself up over it. 2. I don't know about skydivers but the FAA should be told, IMO. I have heard RUMORS of a planes crashing and nothing reported. I'm not a pilot so I don't know what the FAA requires. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  3. That's scarry. Tell us more. I've jumped from 5 different 182s, and all were 5 seaters. They all have five seatbelts. wrt to fuel. I don't know about the others, but we fly ours on ~quarter tanks. Okay for clarification the 182 they had only carried 4 jumpers. 4. Yeah, looks like you posted while I was reading/typing, so we asked the same question. Well, I'm with you in assuming its his King Air. $3k? I wonder what he charges per person for just the lift ticket, not the gear, training, etc, just for the lift...*mind wurring* Huh, if Mike was getting the $3000, we would have an airconditioned packing area by now, but Mike just supplies the airplane and gets paid by the slot, and I don't know what that is nor is it any of my business. Incredible -Adventures supplies all the necessary equipment for these jumps, Mike just supplies the airplane. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  5. It is Mike's plane and yes they (not mike) charge that for a HALO Tandem which includes: Jump training, HALO tandem jump, flight suit, video of adventure, digital photos and certificate of completion. Transportation to and from training site/jump site and Memphis area hotel is also provided. I've seen them done. They have a blast. 6. Are you implying that hook turn fatalities are in the same catagory as gear failure? I know of a fatality that was under a Stiletto that had nothing to do with hook turns, in fact, the canopy opened so hard it was what probably killed her. I've read all your posts in this thread and you did sound like you were jumping on Diablo. Looking at your profile, it appears you don't have the experience that he does and you might want to stop and listen to what he is saying instead of getting all uppity about it and egotistic about it. You cannot afford to stop learning/taking advice in this sport. If you do you WILL die. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  7. You don't have to work for the UN to know enough to keep your hands off another jumpers rig. There is never justification pull reserve, never. In my opinion if it happened the one doing the pulling should be the one to go away. I kinda agree but there have been cases its been real tempting. So how do you feel about a DZ that has a sign up that says "No Hook Turns or XXX will own your silver handle". I've seen it at a DZ. I haven't been there in a few years so I don't know if it is still there and I never saw XXX pull anyone's handle. 8. If you were jumping with Southern Skydivers Against Yankee Ladies, where you would fall in depends on how well you spot. Oh Sh!t, I'm screwed. Isn't there an "all natural" store run by Miss Information? Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  9. One thing I can say about Kev - he's consistent. I don't think Kev would have a problem with that group, and I don't think Kev would have a problem with Yankee Skydivers for Neutering Southerners, eitherr. Like me, he'd disagree with the message, but wouldn't have a problem with people organizing. Whooo, I'm a Damn Yankee Skydiver so where would I fall in? 10. The USPA already has 16 as the minimum age for AFF. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  11. I feel you pain man especially when the advertise beer and pop but the pop is no where to be found. They always say its next to the beer truck, but I have yet to find it. We have a halloween boogie every year and we charge a registration fee but that fee includes Buffet Dinner, beer, pop, jello shots, and 2 raffle ticket. We so have to purchase (at production cost) a raffle prize or 2. Oh yeah, you get to keep your printed beer/pop cup. To really appreciate what has to go on for a boogie that generally has a boogie fee, you need to run one. It's ALOT of hard work and time. 12. Unfortunately I am serious. Needless to say nothing ever happened with that league. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  13. So a few years ago someone tried to start a league in our region. He had one of the meets scheduled at a dropzone with a Cessna 182. We inquired, about what aircraft he was having brought in for the competition, and his reply was" none, we will be using the "honor" system". We declined to compete. Has this ever been done before and was it successful? I know this might sound trollish but I was just making sure I'm not the nut in the case. 14. I have found out that most of the Wuffo's that are giving you a hard time are very intimidated by the fact that you jump out of an airplane for FUN! My general response is "some people spend their weekend golfing, I spend mine skydiving. It's not for everyone". Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  15. I would have to say yes. Depending on how "hard" the previous goal was depends upon the next goal or the time frame for the next goal. Sometimes is just wears you out achieving a goal that you just want to slow down for a while. Everyone other year I get aggressive with my goals. This year's goal is to have alot of fun jumping with people of all skill levels. So far its working!
  16. I went to a BOC throw out after AFF only because that type of deployment was not available at that time for student training. We use throw out for all our AFF jumps so there is no retraining afterwards. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  17. That is frickin funny! Sorry I don't qualify, but I know a few that do. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  18. I would think you wouldn't mind them making their jump money at one dz and spending it at yours? I would think the other dz would have a bigger problem since that person works there and doesn't support them by jumping there. just my 2 cents. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  19. Down their throats? You are way to nice. I have a plan that involves PVC Pipe and some M80's. Whatever happend to natural selection and how did this punks get passed up? Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  20. 100% sure of that Quade? Have you tried? Has anyone tried? What about he Static line student that died a few days later at the hospital after an crash landing a few years ago at a USPA GM DZ. NOTHING was ever reported to the USPA. GM dz's are more likely to "hide" the injuries more than a Non-GM dz, because they actually think they have something to loose. Little do they know, USPA won't drop their membership cause they need the money. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  21. Let's here it for HIM! HIM HIM F@Ck HIM! Happy Birthday John!
  22. That's they way it was when I did it. But like you said one course director would have you tap and leave and one would have you ride thru. Aside from those 4 jumps, you do get 2 practice jumps with an evaluator. I don't think the course got "easier", just more information is put out there to help the candidates instead of guessing. I practiced the tap and go method but my course director wanted us to do the ride thru. I did fail one of jumps because I did the tap and go as I was taught by someone who was helping me but went through the course with a different course director. 23. Derek - we get 8 votes for National Director. We can all vote for you and Bill Von. Next excuse? Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  24. I think all those thing make you an excellent choice but you will have to renew your membership. I would be happy to pay for it if you would consider running. You wouldn't be the only one on the BOD that doesn't skydive anymore, but it doesn't mean they don't care anymore (just like you). HOOKNSWOOP! HOOKNSWOOP! HOOKNSWOOP! Judy p.s. can you change your last name to smith. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  25. We are lucky if 10% of the USPA members vote. I think Hooknswoop would be a great director. I'll write him in. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
