    Okay, maybe a little harsh but...... This probably works for the poster but MAY NOT work for you and your canopy. Can't argue with you on that. It is a pretty crude technique, but it will help you stop flaring at 30'

    Here's a trick I used: If you are landing near a structure, like a hangar, use it to time your flare. If the roof is about the right height, it makes it easy. When you are level with the roof, FLARE!! You can't always do this, but when you can, it helps. I just had to do it a few times and now I can judge the height the "normal" way.

    My family is the same way regarding skydiving/motorcycling. They are also absolutely right. Motorcycles are incomparably more dangerous. In skydiving, you have a fair amount of control over the dangers. In motorcycling, you have almost no control over the dangers. (cars)

    You're thinking too much. Just go make a jump and enjoy yourself. All the bad press you see on TV has no effect on anything. Go jump. You'll love it. That's what matters.

    I just listened to the first lesson on the Pimsleur Method. You are right about the tones being difficult. The on-line Chinese tools website looks pretty helpful. Does anyone have any experience with the Chinesepod podcasts?
