More specifically, it's "tower karst." Lots of karst in the US, but tower karst occurs in areas with wet climates. It accelerates the joint erosion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karst_topography

Using contact lens while jumping
NewGuy2005 replied to kerims's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Someone may have already suggested this, but you doctor can give you a trial pair of disposable contacts to try for free. I jump with mine without any problems. I don't tape up the vents in my goggles, either. It's never been a problem at all. -
Yeah, the Vector is a great rig too - just a pity about those battery cable terminating lugs on the ends of the cutaway housings. t Anyone have a picture of those handy?

It's a prop used to teach geography. A flat doll, kind of like a gingerbread man, that you take with you on vacation or wherever. You take pictures of it in various places and you show the pictures to stimulate discussion.

I live in Arkansas. I don't know Connie and I don't need to do any research. I've no doubt that this person is serious. It gets better than that.

Going for a career as a professional banjo player would be more practical.

Under Canopy through Cumulus Clouds
NewGuy2005 replied to northcave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
One time, on a coach jump, I think it was like jump #18, my coach was between me and a nice cumulus. I watched him fall down the side of it. It was like watching someone that had just jumped off the top of a white skyscraper. Incredible -
Careful, Zippo. I'm no expert, but I've always thought that you should not pull it out until it's time to use it. It you take it out to scare someone, you run the risk of having it taken from, and used to shoot you. I've always told my wife that if you pick it up, you are then obligated to kill the guy as quickly as possible. If you don't, you are dead, yourself. I'd be curious what others opinions are on this.

horizontal speed on tracking
NewGuy2005 replied to jbettingen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's interesting. I'm new to tracking and have only made 2 "tracking dives." On both of them I pulled out of my track to check my altitude and found that I was much higher than I expected to be. Of course it could all be in my mind. -

That's one of the coolest pics I've seen. -
I see. Thanks. Wish I had a chance to sit around that table.

Can you elaborate on this? I want to make sure I'm never part of that group.

How much longer will an "expired" AAD still technically function?
NewGuy2005 replied to 77r's topic in Gear and Rigging
Doesn't matter how long. If I'm not mistaken, it's illegal to use one that's expired. -
That's a beautiful kid.

NewGuy2005 replied to Superfletch's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Dude, I can't wait to jump Mullins' King Air again. I'll never forget when we climbed out of that thing into the sleet on my last AFF jump. EXIT - EXIT - EXIT!!! -

Whatever you do, don't slide on your ass. You could break your back. Your feet are your landing gear. Planes don't land with their gear up, right?
