"Praise God" was the messaging on FOX and the US Christian right news sites as the fundraising passed $5 million US on the GiveSendGo site. Politicians from trump to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene all jumped on the christian/right bandwagon. Here is the new opportunity to export US tribalism to the world. Along with buckets of US cash to finance it all. Thanks America!

I can see why some think Liberals ignore their opinions.In last years elections conservatives did win the popular vote. In a just released poll 68% said that their point has been made. While most feeling Trudeau had bungled the handling of the protests The liberals have done little to heal divisions.Although they have spent to address every issue like a drunk sailor. What has not been recognized is Liberal spending on programs that benefit the west. Like the trans-mountain pipeline which is now at $17 billion for completion. Its original cost was pegged at $7.4. C'est la vie, when you belong to a tribe you ignore the obvious. Even the fascist parties support is up.

Communism is an outdated concept. As the has been communist states have mostly morphed into autocracies. Russia, China, Cuba as examples. There is no longer voting within the systems to elect the equivalent of a politburo. Now its all to protect the insiders who are rewarded with cash. On the flip side capitalism has morphed a bit as well. The GOP for example uses tax statutes to protect special interest groups. Those groups then reward the insiders(politicians) with cash. The party gerrymanders....We all know the rest as Lord Acton suggested.

The truckers would have several days advance notice. Peacekeeping/training forces from overseas would have to come home first. Because as everyone knows there are no armed forces in country right now. Two hundred are in Ukraine and the other 500 in Latvia.

Well the conservatives only hope at a unified mainstream party is gone. But you're right on target. The conservatives are way out to lunch in staying close to the protestors. Only the Alberta and Sask. conservative governments are endorsing the protests. Both want to open everything up at the end of the month. Trudeau has turned this into a tribe on tribe war. instead of isolating and letting the protestors hang themselves. He should have paraded out some people that have forgone cancer treatments. He should have had the photo ops with worn out nurses and the immune compromised who live in fear. Instead he beat the drums of the tribes.

Trudeau has acted exactly like the conservative party has. Painted the idiot protestors as violent, extremists to pander to the wider Canadian liberal base. The actions of a few at the war memorial, the cenotaph, and the Terry Fox memorial. were painted by him to be the acts of the entirety of the protestors. He stated "Canadians won't be intimidated". There have been no arrests, no violence, no vandalism to speak of. So where is the intimidation? His partisanship is solely to paint the liberals as the protectors of Canada's health. They are not. Certainty the conservatives are acting just as bad in meeting with the protestors. Sympathizing with their freedoms from getting vaccinated. Especially when the US requires vaccinations. Their own trucking association doesn't support them. Perhaps bombastic rhetoric appeals to yourself. It doesn't to most Canadians.

The Canadian PM gave a speech yesterday and tried to fan the flames of division. Small idiot segments of these protestors defaced a war memorial and vandalized a monument. So the Canadian Prime Minister gave a long winded speech saying that radicals, law breakers, criminals, etc. won't intimidate Canada. Don't get me wrong, protest away because most mandates are provincial ones. Most Canadians are now triple vaccinated and the protestors get most of their support from Alberta and Sask. Otherwise they are a fringe group. But evidently many Americans including Elon Musk gave them support including to a fundraiser. So they have the money to go on for a while. The smart truckers like Ken are making money. Those clowns can enjoy the sights of Ottawa. While they rack up traffic offenses from the Ottawa police.

"Read this"? is there a shortage of covid information at two plus years and counting? At his stage of the pandemic my first reaction is I feel sorry for the family and medical staff. Who dealt and are still dealing with this death. Then I think that be it Joe Rogan, trump and the aforementioned idiot. Its too bad that the disease isn't more lethal. Current epidemiological thinking is that herd immunity is as far as its likely going to get. So everything is going to open up regardless. That many have been already been vaccinated 3x so its time to loosen restrictions. I guess the immune-comprimised are just going under the wheels of the public interest bus.

Some voters and politicians like payback. Look at the applause the Mr. McConnell got when he engineered the swing of the USSC.For hard core tribalists revenge and payback for perceived excesses from the "other side". Is the lifeblood of motivation. Look at the satisfaction Brent gets should a green environmental project suffer setbacks. When a windmill topples in the wind farm. The noise of the crash is drown out by the applause of the right.

Like some things in America the power of cash pushes opinions. Not in the sense where votes are bought and some are. Bur more in the sub-rosa arena of FB advertising. Of using fear and lies to achieve political objectives. Recent reporting is that trump has a campaign war chest of $122 million. So about double what the GOP party has. In some respects the republican base has moved even farther to the right than even trump. Look at the booing trump received when he voiced his recent idea that vaccines are good. trump has proven to be adaptable, even cunning, in his approach to the right base.He will seize the political ground that he thinks will control 2024. Be it even further to the right than the GOP. Or something even more sinister. trump and his cash will still be around in 2024. Can democracy triumph?

I'm getting convinced that Brent is less versed in ill conceived efforts to cite and talk nonsense than yourself. I suggest that this thread be re-titled "Old White men railing against minorities, change, justice, history and equality". Hitting someone in the face will usually warrants 5 minutes in the penalty box. If it happens more than once. Usually a suspension from at least one subsequent game follows.
