  1. Clearly at the Russian War College they must have had a course citing Attila the Hun. How looting and sacking cities should be idealized. Meanwhile the yacht above has been seized in France. It belongs to a ex KGB buddy of Putin, Rosneft boss Igor Sechin. His nickname is "Darth Vader". Further reading on"The "Darth Vader" of Russia: meet Igor Sechin, Putin's right-hand man"
  2. Russians have been distracted by a little bank robbery and looting. They will get back to artillery fire on civilians shortly.
  3. Agree, time is of the essence. Oil companies are increasing cap spending. But its very small in relation to their deteriorating reserves. Shareholders have gotten off like bandits in the last two years. Nuclear power plants are being rebuilt to extend their service life. In most cases they are now going to run twice their original design service life.Germany mulls extending nuclear plants' life-span - economy minister The new UN climate report looks likely to go unaddressed. War, politics, ignorance and lack of political will.the death knell of action, IMO.
  4. Spoken like an engineer. Unfortunately nuclear has enormous hurdles in approval. The recent spike in oil. Combined with the greed in oil companies wanting to throw almost every cent in cash to shareholders. Will likely drive more EV sales than anything else. No pun intended. That and the refusal of GOP members to support infrastructure.spending makes your good points moot. With the exception of nuclear industry lobbying. If they spread enough cash around. A infrastructure bill might flash through congress like a burrito through Ted Cruz.
  5. Thats ok if it was president trump speaking. It would have gone along with the lines of:" We are going to rush military secrets and lethal weapons to Russia. In order to help our friend President Putin in his time of need. Because I looked into his eyes and believed him"
  6. It would be impossible(legally) for Americans to ship small arms directly to Ukraine. Americans can't even export scopes, scope mounts or any gun parts. Without an export permit. Anything "military" related is subject to ITAR restrictions. i.e. body armor, NVG goggles, etc. Canadians may be able to ship non-military items including scopes, gun parts that are not a part of a military rifle. Polls indicate that 25% of Canadians favor direct military involvement even it involves casualties. In the US 42 percent favor more direct U.S. military action. Although I didn't check to see if that included approval of possible related casualties. I was tempted to reply to your earlier post re this issue. But I thought it might be the Merlot talking after a hard beat to windward.
  7. Last I heard Putin had 100% support in the Duma. President Biden just went up to 44% approval. Perhaps President Biden should take a lesson or two from Putin and close down all opposition TV channels, i.e. FOX.
  8. There are at least 6257 reasons. He is more popular domestically than your president. You were saying?
  9. You don't like to read do you" From your quote"On his first day in office, Biden restored the climate cost estimate to roughly $51 per ton of carbon dioxide emissions, following the Trump administration decision to cut the number to roughly $7 or less per ton and account only for the impacts in the U.S. rather than across the world. At a time when all US oil companies are raking in the cash "The analysis of major oil companies’ financials shows that 11 of the group gave payouts to shareholders worth more than $36.5bn collectively this year, while a dozen bought back $8bn-worth of stock. This apparent focus, rather than on further drilling, has caused some frustration within the federal government, with Jennifer Granholm, the US energy secretary, stating that “the oil and gas companies are not flipping the switch as quickly as the demand requires.” Your disregard for working class Americans is only matched by your disregard for the environment.
  10. August 31, 2021 "The U.S. Interior Department on Tuesday said it would offer almost all available, unleased blocks in a more than 90 million acre area in the Gulf of Mexico. The sale could ultimately result in production of up to 1.1 billion barrels of crude oil and 4.4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas,...The sale is roughly the same size as offshore sales held by the Trump administration, which downplayed the threats from global warming and sought to maximize domestic fossil fuel production." Currently Saudi has 2 mbd and the UAE 1 mbd of unused production capacity. Both don't want to anger Russia. OPEC has agreed to raise production 400k /mo as a result of the war. Canada, not a OPEC member is pumping at full capacity. Once again Truth Social, FOX, et al, have you all messed up.
  11. Everyone knows Brent can read. Its just that he chooses not to. So to help him out here's the picture of the match. BRENT Trudeau is on the left, he is the PM of Canada(the country north of you). The challenger is on the right. The challenger is also conservative. Trudeau was a 3-1 underdog yet he won the fight by TKO in the third.
  12. FIFY Brent isn't aware that the Trudeau-Liberal government is a minority government. So without the support of other political parties it could fall. i.e. be voted out tomorrow. If it failed to have other party support on any issue for which a vote is called.
  13. You seem to be unaware of EU dependence upon continued Russian gas and energy supplies. Such supplies have to be paid for until those EU countries can wean themselves off of it. I've studied Bigun's posts and am aware of his responsible demeanor. His intelligence. I recommend you apologize to him for any suggestion of his, that the sheer audacity and surprise. That his infantry deployment suggestion would lack stunning success. Otherwise he would never have made it. I'd trust that he and his men could loose a barrage of FGM-148s while still under canopy. Or failing that, have armed drone support in advance of his operation. To neutralize any armor on the landing zone. I concur. His absences from officer candidates school to drink Beluga Noble Russian and Ustianochka vodka. Did not go unnoticed.
  14. Its important to separate populations from bad, corrupt leadership. IMO the average Russian citizen is no different from the average Ukrainian or Chinese citizen. But increasingly the corruption of the Russian and Chinese regimes. Together with a captive media with propaganda at their cores. Has led to both those nations to corrupt orientations. Why the Chinese internet is cheering Russia’s invasion is a reprint of a NYT story. In The Indian Express which is a 90 year old newspaper published in the English language. The story doesn't mention that the Modi Indian government abstained from the Ukrainian vote. But Russian and Chinese citizens are captive of government news sources. Like some in the west are captive of their own radical sources.
  15. Akin to an instructor who has a student injured while under their care. Then ridicules and laughs at the injured student. Perhaps the poster knows a DZ like that.
  16. If not from FOX it perfectly describes the GOP with the exception of the members that voted to impeach trump. Are you sure you're not mixing up your "Truth Social" feed from your FOX feed?
  17. I hereby nominate him for Hero of the new Ukrainian Republic.
  18. I was sort of thinking that when I saw the video of the Ukrainian motorist talking with the APC crew that had run out of gas. Except i was thinking oc coming back a t night with a couple friends and our 30-06s to start a APC collection. Those Russian commanders. Skipping the day at the Hero of the Soviet Union war college. When they were taught "logistics of fuel supplies for invading armies". All to drink vodka with other officer cadets.I mean they have Brents in the Russian army too!
  19. Ukrainians laugh at war and danger. From the Russian boys 'Mama, I Didn't Want To Come' Afterwards the Ukrainian captors apologized for capturing them. Fed them some nice homemade perogies and holubtsi. Then let them make phone calls home to tell their parents that they had been captured.
  20. Putin's power originates from his KGB brothers. In USSR times it was the Commissars. Now the KGB, like the old Stasi, spy on the oligarchs, the generals and any opposition. Even Xi relies upon the MSS the Ministry State Security to keep critics in line. "Denmark will donate 2,700 anti-tank weapons to Ukraine, prime minister Mette Frederiksen told reporters on Sunday. Sweden will also send 5,000 anti-tank weapons,"...Scholz’s(Germany) decision to supply 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles to the Ukrainian military, The Germans in the second WW nicknamed the Sherman tank the Tommy cooker. With 8700 anti tank weapons on the way російська плита or "Russian cooker" may be the new slogan. I almost feel sorry for those 19 year old Russian tankers. Not. Aside from that I'd suggest that more civilians that tankers die in war. More Marines than any other MOS. In the Gulf war I don't think that there was any US tanker deaths. Although a couple Bradley crews perished from friendly fire.
  21. Very, very risky conduct. Hasn't he seen the ads on the dangers of smoking! Then the film crew, downwind of second hand smoke.
  22. Are you suggesting that I should pour my Russian Vodka down the drain?
  23. The whole molotov cocktails story is very, very depressing. As is the idea of handing out Kalashnikov rifles to 50-60 year old men. Its one thing if you know guns and how to hunt. But untrained people taking on Russian troops with a Kalashnikov and a molotov cocktail. Is a bad bad situation. They don't know to dig foxholes, conduct ambushes, stay out of the open, etc. etc. But you do what you have to when the hand you're dealt is bad all around. Would Gofundme allow a campaign to "Send a stinger to Putin"? I think 100k will buy one. I heard a news report where the Ukrainians had shot down a troop carrying helicopter full of troops.
  24. Yes they all agreed to 2% minimum and only the Baltic NATO members have really exceeded that. But keep in mind that NATO already dwarfs Russian spending and military power.
  25. I disagree. Putin's bellicose statements to his people and his blatant "testing" of his nuclear missile options in the last two weeks. Clearly showed he was laying his cards on the table. Once again I disagree. They are spending enough already. Furthermore I hope the US doesn't use this war as an excuse to spend more. They need to move at maximum speed for energy independence from Russia. Complete independence. Cut Russia off at the economic knees independence. Furthermore politicians need to prepare its populations for the economic costs associated with this. Instead park NATO divisions, A/C and missile systems closer to Russia in other NATO countries. Agree and go after every oligarch associated with Putin and seize ill gotten assets to pay Ukrainian reparations. I'm more optimistic. France seized a Russian flagged ship overnight associated with the sanctions. Russia is a run down, corrupt system and its armed forces are weak. Look what happened when it tried to send its aircraft carrier to the Med last year. Putin likely started this war to distract from the weak economic growth over the last decade. Its declining birth rate. Its ageing population. Western unity is the answer to Putin. it will ultimately also free Russia from its dictatorship.
