  1. I just put it up on skydivingmovies.com so it should be available soon if it isnt already.
  2. Heres a little video from my angle, including my beautiful exit. Forward this to other people you know who dont post on here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fioSMJWdcs
  3. like anything in skydiving, find someone who has experience doing it, and then ask them for help. GL may seem really docile but you can screw yourself up really quick really easily. Not sure of any places down in your area because you basically need a nice long steep hill wait reasonable wind up the face. Plenty of places in norcal if you can make the trip.
  4. Hey everyone, thanks for all the awesome jumps this last weekend. Just got back from my trip to bishop aka the reason I had to leave early on sunday. Im catching up on all the media and it looks like theres some awesome video and pictures. Ill try to put something together of mine at some point...perhaps including one memorable exit (overheard while watching video "did someone throw a door out of the plane?") Look forward to flocking with everyone again soon. -Charley
  5. First year of med school is over, not only 3 more to go, then residency.... but im happy anyway!!
  6. 1:36 PCT? Im not from here, I dont know the abreviation. Last final of the first year of medical school coming up tomorrow.
  7. Only jumped a ripcord twice, something like my 30th and 31st jumps. Had been jumping a borrowed sabre 150, didnt have my own gear yet, went to a dz and asked for a rental rig. Got a super ragged out 240 with a ripchord. They saw sitflying in my logbook for my last just and said....you probably shouldnt try that with this rig. Needless to say I got my own gear very shortly thereafter.
  8. I would say that the majority, probably even the vast majority of wingsuit pilots pull higher. The wingsuit just adds a lot more complication to the opening process and the chance of having a mal is higher, especially on more highly loaded eliptical canopies where linetwists can be really bad. A lot of suits you cant reach the risers to correct diving openings if you have to, and kicking in a leg wing is tougher. The rate of decent is slower sure, but just like a hop and pop, airspeed is going to make your canopy open, so wingsuit jumps snivel a little longer than normal jumps. I havent really measured it, but I doubt theres too much of a difference in opening altitude.
  9. It seems to me that its a combination of the shiny new stainless hardwear and leg straps that havent been worn in much at all. I will see what my rigger says, just thought id get some input here. But hey, im allowed to be on a budget for GL, thats kind of part of the appeal of the sport.
  10. My groundlaunching harness has leg straps that seem to come loose almost every launch. When I land they are about 8 inches longer than when I launched. Anyone got a solution to make this problem go away? The harness is basically a javelin.
  11. I really liked the jumps i did on a sabre2, and the flare was the best of any semi eliptical ive flown. I jump a crossfire now on my WS jumps and openings are interesting, but it flies straight in line twists.
  12. Just to note, the 100th save was the jumpers first cut away in 1661 jumps.
  13. Id say its close to a half size difference. I had a spectre 170 demo and then went down to a sabre1 150, and id say the spectre only packed slightly larger. It depends on how old the sabre was and how new the spectre is as well.
  14. $5 at lodi for 3000 feet, rarely any more, sometimes a little less, and sometimes Bill might give you a little crap. One of the coolest things ive seen is the swoop club at East Troy. They rent the plane and keep it turning for as long as there are people. $8 a load I believe. Too bad I moved before I had much swooping in mind.
  15. Not too swoopy, but couple of pretty bad ass pictures done by my friend nick while we were ground launching.
  16. I got some birdman pants as a present and they are really fun to track in, but really they are only super useful if.. 1. You are tracking all by yourself and just want to see how far you can go. 2. You are base jumping. 3. You are on a bigway track and like to surf burbles and need a quick way to catch back up. If using them to try to stay with a tracking dive, they actually take more skill to keep with the group because you are constantly trying to adjust your fall rate. If you really want to fly, do a lot of jumps, learn to track in whatever you are wearing, and then get a wingsuit.
  17. Hey what about wingsuit jumps? Freefall is at least doubled for every jump. A quote from Bill Dause while doing my 5th hop n' pop of the day. "The sport of skydiving is in freefall. How many jumps do you have? me - about 300. bill- and you dont know how to land a parachute yet?"
  18. With my one (failed) attempt as Mr. Bill, ive learned a couple of things. 1. dont use a sabre1 for sluggos canopy. 2. Wrap your legs around the waist of the other person as tight as you can, its way easier than trying to take too much force with your arms. 3. Dont ease up on your grip until ALL the cells are inflated. I watched the canopy snivel, the center inflate, and then WACK!
  19. Let my low jump number guide how you take this advice, but I remember when I first started I had landing issues with a Nav 220. I went down to a sabre2 170 and finally felt like I was flying the canopy instead of it flying me.. I was a little scared on that first jump above a 1.0 wingloading, but was amazed at how much easier it was to fly and land. Not going to be true for everyone, but you wont really be able to tell until you get out there and fly it. Just remember, no low turns, and remember to flare in the correct direction on a day with a nice wind and all youll likely get is a grass stain if you bail, and probably a way nicer landing than you think.
  20. Does anyone have an ingenious method of making a freefly legstrap bungee or something like it that is removable so I can still fly my wingsuit without a huge hassle? Id like something more permanent than just a pullup cord tied between them.
  21. Im sure this has been asked numerous times, but I dont really know what to look for in the forum titles. I have an HC 42 and lately ive been getting some whiteing out during the brightest parts of the day. What settings do people use in the early afternoon? Ive been shooting in sports mode with autofocus and leaving the exposure on auto.
  22. I have jumped a US crossfire for the last 50 or so jumps, and now finally having bought my own I found out mine is a euro spec which did not require the line trim adjustment. Can anyone tell me.... What these canopies fly like when relined?..ie people complain about the US ones flying way worse, higher front riser pressure. What is the difference if any in the trim usually? Why it seems like the slider on the euro one is smaller compared to the US one I jumped of the same size? or any other relavent information.
  23. Off topic a little form your original post, but you can do birman training with 200 jumps. You just need to find a BMI and a sabre2 is a nice canopy for wingsuit jump.
  24. No actual RSL on the rig and its her first ever rig, so I dont think she would know anyway. Thanks for the replies though.
