  1. Friend is buying my canopy, so I said send the risers and ill hook it up so you wont have to walk down the lines and figure everything out (she has her own links she wants to use). I got the risers and I dont know which side to put the RSL ring on. Container is a 95 jav J2.
  2. Ive been to 3 of the 4 mentioned and they are all great DZs. Havent been to Byron, but I hear its awesome as well. If you are just looking for jump number, Lodi will put up a lot more loads on week days. I really like skydance on the weekends, but ill probably be ditching school tomorrow to hit some $5 hop and pops at Lodi.
  3. Ive been jumping a crossfire 1 139 for a while now that was not effected by the service bulletin and has not been relined. It is about due for a reline, but will they change the trim on the canopy? I love how it handles now, and have heard people say bad things about the trim mod.
  4. I have a scooter and when I moved from a non helmet law to a helmet law state, I just started wearing my mind warp. People dont really give it a second look, but a few ask me what the L bracket on the side is for
  5. Hop n pop from 3.5K, got under canopy, set up a nice conservative landing pattern, reach for the front at about 600, plane flies right underneath me. Not sure where I should have spotted for that one, but deffinatley didnt see him on exit. p.s. Got told by the pilot later that he saw me the whole time and there was plenty of room. How long does it take to get a canopy in a front riser dive from ~500 feet? Plenty of time apparently.
  6. I'd think it would be when you were back flying flat and stable on your 3rd wingsuit jump. Nice one Charlie Be safe Ed Hehe, technically that was only my second jump, but yes that is up there too. Honestly just zipping into a wingsuit for the first time, and that first exit feeling super nervous. Below 5000 when you can really tell how fast your forward speed is. Keep this thread going, itll answer a lot of peoples questions why some people love flying wingsuits so much.
  7. Sorry im not one of the experienced guys you want to hear from, but one of my favorite skydiving memories was my 3rd or so wingsuit jump, flying around for a while, thinking I was getting close to pull altitude, checking my alti, and seeing it still at 9K
  8. Hmm I only wish I could think of someone with a slower softer opening canopy that you speak of... I dont know though, that guy I know is afraid to jump a wing suit with it, so he probably wouldnt be down for a mr. bill.
  9. Ive seen canopies flown with 3.0+ wingloadings, pretty much anytime someone does a mr. bill. Anyone know of the highest wingloading put on a normally built xbraced canopy during this type of situation? Ive seen the pd video of some factory guys doing it with what I assume are velos.
  10. I whole heartedly agree with the demo idea. Finding a container that will fit a reserve size youre comfortable with, and maxes out at what you want to start at, with potential to downsize...I only know javelin type stuff, so a used j2 in that case. PD has about the best demo program you could ever ask for. My personal choice would be a sabre2 170. I did something similar with a j1 and a spectre 170, and shortly after demoed a sabre2 150 and decided it was the right size for me. Kim at PD is the nicest lady in the world, and if you sweet talk her, she might even let you keep a demo for an extra week
  11. Ill throw myself out there as single as well. Not really sure why, just to lazy/busy to have a committed relationship. But hey, 22m future doctor, enquire with photos, preferably nude.
  12. First off, sit in a freshman biology class and ask 400 students how many are premed 390 will raise their hand. Probably 20 of those, if that, will not give up, get discouraged, or simply not make it in to med school. And havent you ever head, 62% of statistics are just made up anyway
  13. Has anyone ever had a problem with launching a new spot or even a popular spot. There are well known spots 2 or so hours from me, but there are a lot of foothills that seem quite launchable. Anyone opened a spot and have tips, besides obviously wind conditions and grade, that I should look for in a new spot.
  14. Bear Down, Chicago Bears. Make every play clear the way to victory! Bear Down, Chicago Bears. Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly! We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation, With your T formation. Bear Down, Chicago Bears. And let them know why you're wearing the crown. You're the pride and joy, of all Illinois. Chicago Bears, Bear Down!
  15. Im sure it depends on the canopy, but in my experience a spectre 170 was a really really really tight fit.
  16. Yah it pays to be tall and skinny. My only reservation on it is that with all those sponsors I just inherited, people will be really disappointed when I eat shit into a sand dune.
  17. As someone who recently began ground launching, Id say dont rush into it. I have around 230 skydives and my canopy skills were probably right on the border of what was safe to do. Its one of those things just like other stuff in the sport, you can do it early on, but your odds of getting hurt are much higher. Ive heard of guys with thousands of skydives eating it pretty hard on their first attempts, as I did. All warnings being said, its an awesome way to get to know your canopy as every single input is so magnified by being so close to the ground. It sure is a lot of fun, but you might want to try on a beach first, because when you eat shit, and you will, itll be softer. As far as wing loadings im not so sure, I do it at about 1.35 but Ive seen people do much lower and much higher.
  18. Thanks for all the suggestions. I just bought Vladi's off of the containers page as it was incredibly cheap for a super nice container, and I dont have to destroy or rebuild anything. Youre all welcome to look and tell me your opinion of the deal I got, i think the ad is still up.
  19. Any of you riggers out there ever make someone/yourself a ground launching harness? If so, how much did you charge for it and what did it consist of?
  20. Does anyone know where I can find a schedule of courses in the norcal area?
  21. Even if there isnt enough to make a king air load, you need 3 i think for a cessna load for the same price. There are also, my personal favorite, $5 hop n' pops.
  22. How silly for anyone to question you. I fully support your choices and would like to point out that PD does have velocities available to demo all the way down to 79 square feet and chicks dig 450s. Good luck "pushing your limits". In all seriousness, people on this website will always give you their honest opinion, and some will flame you, but its all to keep the number of deaths and serious injuries in this sport down. There are a ton of reasons not to jump a small main quickly, as everythign happens much faster. Im just going to go out on a limb and assume youve never had a mal, and never had anyone you know in the sport get seriously injured or killed yet. Theres a good chance that you will never get seriously injured under your canopy, but loading high early will give a much better chance than most to get seriously injured, and thats what people want you to see. If you already have all these risks in mind, good for you and good luck. If you just think youre indestructable, I know a 23 year old parapalegic who would be glad to talk to you. Have a safe 2007.
  23. I go to medical school at UC Davis and just had a friend call me and say they read an article in the school paper about a law student skydiver and my heart sank when I knew it was Cliff. My condolences to everyone who had their life touched by this tragedy. Cliff Article
  24. If you search the forums this is from 2004 I think and has been discussed ad nauseam.
  25. I cant find it on the website. Anyone know what it would cost for a XF1 139 lineset?
