  1. Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, CA. Class of '93 (I guess I shouldn't reveal my age. Oh well.)
  2. I worked at a Safeway with some airheaded chick named Doty (like Doh not Dot). Her last name was Ditty, but her middle name was Sara. Why do parents do these things? Sad.
  3. Luck? You don't seem to need it. You seemed to have done so well using the above traits in the "General"/Safety/Gear fora.
  4. 1. What/where is NCS? 2. Iwan's initial post says: "There will be a skyvan, kingair, and other aircraft to be announced." A third turbine? Perhaps one of the PACs from Davis? I just remember on Saturday last year that is seemed like we could have used more lift capacity. Just sayin'
  5. This is what happened to me when I had a 9-month layoff at about 35 jumps...and no license yet. A coach/reccurency jump and then I was cleared for solo again.
  6. The Slow Dancer Deliberate Gentle Love Dreamer (DGLDm)
  7. Hey! I want JP's autograph! He did my first tandem, so he's my hero! And I think we're only a few days apart for birthdays too.
  8. Not bad, not bad at all...
  9. That sarcasm or do you actually know who this person is? I know who Gareth is and I do not doubt that kallend does too. Oh, he posts here as gjhdiver (or something like that), with an avatar of someone tracking.
  10. Hey, she's a good writer! FAR better than me - I suck at putting thoughts cohesively together in writing.
  11. Don't know, but there are several listings for Slovenia, Bosnia and Croatia. Probably at least a few hours drive away, but your closest options of course.
  12. Phone calls were being made yesterday. We will come up with something... For those of you that are interested, I spoke with Pat Conatser this afternoon (10/3) and he asked that I post this for him. The Skyvan will be down for at least a month, probably longer. For those of you wondering why jump ticket prices cost what they do, this little "fix" will cost over $100,000 (probably WELL over $100,000). Also, having spent a few days at Perris in the past, I know that Pat, Ben and their mechanics won't let the Skyvan back in the air until everything is right. Ask Pat sometime why he puts such effort into aircraft maintenance and safety. His stock answer is, "My family and friends are on those planes". Of course, he also might be flying one of them, so I guess there is a big incentive to get things right. Jack Gramley I am sure the Byron crew will let us know all know what plan "B" is as soon as they get the logistics worked out. Thanks for the info Phil. Nice to know.
  13. You'll get 2 hours of the worst of the 80's and like it. Worst of the 80's....sweeet!
  14. Didn't really meet much, but seemed like good people. I'm sure you'll miss them - I guess I will too. Treat 'em well, Eloy.
  15. Interesting. Although I am sure that most of us do not have multiple rigs, jump on bigways/WR attempts or DZs as large a Perris regularly. Maybe someone can get the USPA to add a "How many rigs do you currently own?" to the annual renewal survey.
  16. I'll definitely second this. I helped out a TW inserting markers and other such stuff (it's been 6 years - don't quite remember exactly) on some few hundred page engineering manual using Adobe Framemaker. It's not exactly Word Processing.
  17. That was gonna be the skyvan? Doh!
  18. I know! We are just SO patient and never ever get excited over ANYTHING!
  19. I think at Nationals last year, Parachutist said in the recap article that some lady passed out from the heat while under canopy. She was having trouble descending from the thermals even after repeated spirals. I'm not sure if a WL and canopy was reported. I didn't think this was possible since a skydiving canopy is designed completely different. Sounds kinda scary. Shawndiver told me of a kiteboarder that got carried up 1000' and then set down (safely) a mile away (they were still strapped in to their harness). Unbelievable.
  20. Good morning folks. I hope you're doing well too.

    I <3 Espresso

Italian forthing pitcher (too wide) + electric stovetop = barely acceptable cup of greek coffee. I'll live though.
  22. One vote for just skydiving parts please. Maybe the pug thing too so we can validate that it was lamer than the skydive.
