Something neither of us are even close to ready for yet.... ...made by Icarus.

She said DEC 1-3 not JAN 1-3.

Tensile strength of a pull-up cord
Elisha replied to Elisha's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If this is anywhere near correct, than that is cool. All I know, is that I bet it is much stronger than my stupid yoga rope....which broke when I tried to hang upside down by it at home. -

That sounds like a rigger challenge to me. Hey riggers! I bet you can't break a pull-up cord in your pull test machines! I dare you! If you do, you must report back here with your results. -
Yeah, I had to arch hard....we did a few jumps on Labor Day.

Assume they are the typical vendor (e.g. PD, Aerodyne, Icarus, etc.) or DZ custom-made pull-up cords you commonly see around. -

Anyone know what it is? Just curious. Don't worry - not thinking of doing any funny-business rigging with one. -
Silly Brits, you rent items (e.g. a car, rig, etc.) and you hire people/services (e.g. a taxi, maid, employee, etc.).

Too long for me! I'm perfectly happy with the openings on my Sabre1[\b]-120. I demoed a Safire2, liked it, but it sniveled too long. Sabre2 kicks it's ass! (You just must be blowing an Icarus rep.)

Do you consider yourself to be a family man/woman?
Elisha replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
A wannabe family man I guess...need a wife. -
Old Chicago in Petaluma, CA. Nothing beats it. Some people mention a place called Zachary's in Berkeley, CA, but those who've had both say Old Chicago is definitely better.

No way, it tastes much better than the smell! Ever try a ripe Camembert? It tastes much better than the smell too.

That sounds rather...S&M like. Not that I've consumed bodily fluids, but I can't imagine them being worse then chew spit. Horrid.

Nah, then those colors would make it even uglier. (Really, I'd take an Icon if it was free or had some huge discount coupon.)
-
Sure. I'm jealous of all you new gear people too.
-
You're just jealous that he has a new Inifinity and you don't.

You kinda broke the no more than 3 colors rule, but both are shades of gray. Looks great. Your combos are rather unique. Glad you like it. Looking at your first picture though, I think your bumper suit may be too tight! Can you fall slower than the 130+ I fell with you on Labor day?

canopy for an infrequent jumper
Elisha replied to Yossarian's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Nah, I'd prefer not. -

That's why you get a Sabre2...but if someone could wave a magic wand and turn my Sabre into a Pilot, I'll take it. My order of preference: Sabre2, Safire2, Pilot then my Sabre (just because that's what I'm jumping). Yeah, I'm one of those "But it was a good deal!" guys. I haven't killed or injured myself in 35 jumps on the canopy though. -
Eloy Christmas Boogie. How busy is the sky?
Elisha replied to WooHoo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I like this...imagine it being read in the voice of Michael Palin from Monty Python fame: Michael Palin: If thou dost choose to be incorrigible, then our way of dealing with rogue canopy pilots is banishment out to the desert south of the RV parks!!! There is no grass in this penalty area, nor is there an audience. Whether you fly fast or slow, any behavior that is naughty to the overall traffic pattern can result in banishment to the penalty landing area for up to several days, depending on the severity of the infraction. -
And by the way, even though I swim infrequently, I've been in the ocean and many lakes in the past. I can tread water fine, but my technique really sucks. I would need a few lessons just to be able to swim laps for exercise/cardio.

Why don't you try just going to a swimming pool? You could maybe jump in while wearing a pair of shorts (that you have to unbutton and unzip) over your swimsuit, stay underwater under the end of a floating mattress, take the shorts off while under the mattress, then swim to the end of the mattress and come up to the surface of the water. This is basically how it was for me and I'm no champion swimmer. The harness was not tightened and was easy to get out of. I believe in the training we were told to loosen our legstraps and chestrap when are getting near to landing in water so we can get out easy. In my training class: 1) we got in the harness (this was at a public pool). 2) we jumped in the pool and the instructor and a volunteer (another of the students) then lifted the canopy over our heads 3) we got out of the harness (took 5-10 seconds If I remember correctly) and then swam out from under the canopy - maybe 5 feet if that. It was more mundane than I thought it would be.

I think Tai Chi might help flexibility...in the more advanced stages. You could also try Yoga and/or Pilates.

Excellent job, Jason. Great editing.
