  1. MJ, Do you know if the $10 mentioned on the NorCal list covers the food? What about BEER - BYOB? Just confirming. I should see you there.
  2. Jason, pretty nice photos....thanks for sharing.
  3. Damn that's a sexy jumpsuit. Oh, it's not the jumpsuit that's sexy.
  4. The first one a couple of years ago traumatized me too much. I'd rather try landing DeBarr's Velo 96.
  5. Davis is usually open on Labor Day. I'll probably stop by for a jump or three on my way back from Redding/Lassen are to Sonoma county. It's also probably only 30 min (or less?) from Travis.
  6. I did 3 jumps on Gareth's Storm-120 (Thanks again, Gareth). I think the first time I jumped a 7-cell in since jump 58 (only 11 total 7-cell jumps). I tend to agree with all the comments so far. I definitely enjoyed it.
  7. To prevent self or adverse selection, I would poll upjumpers on a few DZs instead.
  8. Because their car hasn't been registered in California?
  9. Btw, I was thinking that someone like BILL VON might have some ideas.
  10. Here is a link to the application: linky The requirements are pretty easy: 1. Fail a Smog Test 2. Mail in your application with Smog failure results to the state. 3. If approved (I was), then take to DMV to surrender plates and get temporary driving permission. 4. Drive to approved dismantler (list sent with your approved application). They do visual and operational inspection and give you a grand if you pass. The inspection is pretty minimal. It needs to start under its own power, drive at least 10 yards, pedals work and a few other things.
  11. Anyone have any ideas for a temporary, cheap car battery? My car was accepted by the state of CA for to be "retired" (i.e. they'll pay me $1000). I have already failed my smog test and got my application accepted. Now, all I need to do is: 1. Drive it to the DMV to give up the plates. 2. Drive it to one of the certified dismantlers. Total is no more than 30 miles. Problem? Battery is dead and won't retain a charge when attempting to charge it. Getting someone to follow me to jump it doesn't sound good and I'm thinking that the dismantler wouldn't accept a car that wouldn't start (requiring a jump). I'm looking at about $50, since the current battery is an 84 month battery and the warranty would be about 50%. Anyone have any ideas? Two jump tickets just sounds like too much to drive it a few miles.
  12. Ditto what Krisanne said...and nice photo there too (I even found my head way in the back there). Morrigan has to be one of the best manifestors out there. Phil, thanks for the quick explanation about the plane. While I was looking forward to the CASA, I'll take a van anyday.
  13. I've jumped an orange parachute that is 99 sq ft about a half dozen times. Should I be offended that no one called the cops to think I died?
  14. I haven't posted on DZ.com in a little while. Thanks for posting this Phil. Indeed, it sounds nice.
  15. That's ok...I think I'll pass on the Velo for a while.
  16. I was looking at the classifieds and saw a Stiletto that was about 10 years old and only 100 jumps. Is there any difference between older and newer Stilettos besides just age? Any year cutoff where anything even minor changed (e.g. slider collapse method like with Sabres - drawstring vs velcro)? Thanks.
  17. Perris is NOT at sea level...at a little over 1000 ft. But I'm sure that compared to Colorado it might feel that way. I'm sure at that time it will certainly seem drier than Colorado.
  18. Hmmm....I'm wondering if I saw said swinging both ways plan when I was there yesterday...
  19. 0:7:0 Seven jumps on a free demo Katana-107...fun fun fun!
  20. 1st part - I agree. Will not buy American cars anytime soon. 2nd - when I saw the thread title I thought he was announcing that we was going to be a father.
  21. I just finished all 14 discs from my Netflix queue. Got to see all the ones I missed when I was 12.
  22. ...maybe if it was Precision Demo weekend instead of a PD Demo Weekend.
