I don't understand what makes people act like that around a "celebrity". They are just people. How about realizing it really is that person you've only seen on your TV or in a theater? You would have to pretend you have no idea who the heck they are, which is disingenuous. I guess you would need to define what "gawking" or acting crazy really meant. When I was at Perris a year ago, I met Don Swayze (Patrick's brother) and talked to him for a few minutes. I didn't freak out and go OMGWTFBBQ or whatever - just talked to him, but we both new who he was and I couldn't pretend he was just another skydiver. Now, if we were dirt diving a 4-way or something, then of course things would be business as usual.

Another thank you here for some balanced, non-reactionary, non-freaking out info. I have 320...finished w/90 this year and 101 last year. Most of my last about 150 have been on my current Sabre-120 @1.3. I like it and plan to keep it, but want to move to something not square, probably around early summer. I've done a few demo jumps (i.e. demoing other people's gear) on a Safire2-119, Stilletto-107, Sabre2-120 and about 5-6 on Mike Rabe's Crossfire-99 - all definitely more fun than the old Sabre. My actual getting something else though will depend more on my economic situation at the time. Most likely it will end up being like a Sabre2-107/Safire2-109/Stilletto-107 as opposed to something under 100 sq ft. In the meantime, the Sabre-120 isn't too bad. It was definitely a sweet pick-up for a 10 year-old canopy w/ ~500 jumps and only $250. UDSkyjunkie, Pilot toggle whip: definitely noticed that as well when jumping a 132. I thought the instant horizontal from burying a toggle was an enticing point of the canopy.

Maybe you should have put that in the question. (ie. "Top 10" Turbine DZs") The way it was phrased makes it sound like a Cessna dropzone can't be good. I'm sure that wasn't the intent, but it does come across a little that way. Blues. Fine. Assume Kimblair13 said "top 10 skydiving resorts" or whatever you want. I'm curious to the responses to the intended question as well.

Sean Penn sighted doing AFF Lvl-2 @Perris today. I'm hoping it went well (since I didn't see the landing). I was on the AFF2 load about 3 seats away from him. Maybe he's having the fun Robin wouldn't let him since their now divorcing?

Bill, Do you have any links on battery replacing for Prius's? Thanks.
-
Not necessarily - it is a setback, but not that huge, as most financial incentives (tax credits, loans, grants, etc.) are state/utility/local driven and not federally. I think it was still a mistake though.

I just bought me an '07 Prius - white with the full package. Beautiful with charcoal gray leather. Through my first 220 miles, I'm averaging 45.5 mpg. Compared to my '93 Volvo 940 Turbo which gets at best 21.5 mpg, I should be saving around $1800 per year in gas, assuming about 18K miles and $3.50 per gallon....and my emissions are much lower than a strict gas car that would get the same mpg. I'm NOT disliking it so far. There were a few civics on the Toyota lot - people had turned them in for Priuses.

reduced breaks for .... companies extended breaks for .... projects Wwhat would have happened if an oil or gas 'company' wanted to develop 'projects' in wind and solar energy? They probably could get their normal subsidies/breaks and just put their green initiatives under regular "R & D". Just my cynical guess...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/19/AR2007121900815_2.html?hpid=topnews This is the disappointing part of the bill: Not everyone was happy at the end of a year of haggling and lobbying. To secure passage for the bill, congressional leaders dropped a tax package that would have reduced breaks for the biggest oil and gas companies and extended breaks for wind and solar projects. "We're pretty disappointed," said Rhone A. Resch, president of the Solar Energy Industries Association, which sought an extension of the investment tax credit that expires at the end of next year. "Clearly the most important provisions for us were left on the cutting-room floor." Resch said that because of long lead times for big solar projects, "we will see the U.S. market for solar start to shrink rapidly by the second quarter of next year."

Congratulations, Matt!

And I think the majority of Christians in this country agree...just that I think that Evangelical Christian types like that fluff bill stuff and they happen to be in congress.

Yes. (didn't read the link - just answered the question at face value.

This is only my second post in this thread (first is what you just replied to). Where do I even state owning a gun or my support? My first post stands. Your ANECDOTE below ("studies have shown" doesn't mean squat w/o stating the actual study and data source behind the study). You're not convincing anyone here and it is not because people here are refusing to consider your argument. (Hint: improve your argument)

My rig is purple, so I voted that. The only purple "person" I know is Barney and he's annoying. Are one of those telletubby things purple too? I generally don't watch kids shows, so I don't know.

Correlation does not imply causation. kallend may be a professor, but most likely not one of statistics...or a very dishonest one.

I'm still happy over the King of Spain telling him to Shut up.

Tesla Coils? Check. 1812 Overture? Check. Coolest video today? CHECK
Elisha replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
I've seen Tesla coils play the Super Mario Bros theme on youtube. 1812 overture is classier though. -
Thanks for the update, Gareth. I was hoping you'd give some type of feedback.

People say it in NorCal. I have been here long enough and have every right to use it as much as a please!

...because even though I've had one for a couple of years, I'm still stooopid. Anyway, I think my battery is getting "old"/memory fading/whatever in my cheap Virgin Mobile pay-as-you-go cell phone. I liked having this phone for occasional usage up until a few months ago when I was using it way too much while searching for a job. I like having a landline where people can call me and leave a message on my answering machine if I'm not there. If it is urgent, they probably have my cell # and can call me or can call someone who does, otherwise they can e-mail me or leave a message on my answering machine. I DON'T WANT TO BE ACCESSIBLE 100% OF THE TIME TO EVERYONE!!! So, my questions (with way too much info attached): 1. What about getting another battery? I asked a coworker and he said to just buy another phone, as batteries are hella expensive in comparison. Really? 2. If I thought I'd just be super cool and splurge to get an iPhone like other people, can I transfer my phone number to the iPhone? Does it depend on the provider (i.e. AT&T, Sprint, etc.)? 3. What if you have an iPhone (you know, supposedly the best phone ever) and the battery needs replacing? How much do those cost? Does all of your info stored in the phone stay when exchanging the dying battery for a new one? 4. How long should most cell phones charge last with low usage? I realize that turning it off helps. Thanks. I'll probably think of more questions later.

Wow! Your B-day is the same as my stepmom's and the day before my sister's! Congrats!

Is this a taser party? I think some people here may know him.

So how does it scoop up water then? I didn't see water magically fly into the plane on the pics, as impressive as they are.
