It will probably need to come from the DZ management... I thnk everyone who has done student camera work started by doing unpaid lurks... but, IMO, it needs to be with the permission of the management of the DZ and camera concession. I don't think it will pass in the Senate... and even if it does, if there is not a similar bill in the House, it won't go anywhere... If one is introduced in the House, it is likely to die (or be held up at least) in sub-committee until after the ban has sunset. Is their motivation money, or a cause (religion, political, etc)? If their motivation is a cause, torture is not reliable... if their motivation is money, they probably value their own life, so threats to that *may* produce results... On another note.. when did physiological coercion become torture? Guess that means the police are going to have a tough time questioning anyone... Unless their mission was to avoid contact (ie. a purely recon mission), that is not what they are there for... It looks more like they engaged and destryed a target of opportunity... can I say for certain, from the internet version of the video, what the object was? no... could the pilot or gunner tell what the object was with his on-board systems (at least 10x larger)? I often toss my garden tools (with heat signature) in a field and walk away from them... then I stop the tractor from running over them... oh, and unwrap them when fired at... The object was the size and shape of either an RPG or SA-7, either of which is a threat to a helo... based on how is handling it I'd say RPG though. I think the video in the cockpit is a little better quality than crunched internet video... and their weapon ID skills are probably a little more honed than ours. #1 would just make it 100% of the civilian deaths would be at the hand of Iraqis, it just would have been their own government I don't think UN support would change anything by itself, and given the levels of apparent corruption at the UN with regard to Iraq, support would not have been likely anyway. # 3 and 4 we can actually agree on... and there was a plan for #3 which enables #4... Well lets see... between May 2 and May 16, 47 civilians were reported killed by insurgent/terrorist mortar attacks, roadside bombs, car/sucide bombs, or gunfire... 4 were reported killed by a US airstrike... As reported by various agencies and listed here. ***I picked the dates based on the amount of time I had to go back from the most recent listed. Put down your crack pipe... insurgents and or terrorists are killing more Iraqi civilians than the US or rest of the Coalition is... The major difference is the Iraqis they are killing are more than likely "innocent" bystanders... The ones we are killing are more than likely trying to do us harm... on the not that frequent ocasion that an innocent is Killed, it is likely to be a mistake.
