0:2:2 High winds equal few jumps. 1st Cross Country jump. Very fun opened about 10,000 and traveled back to the DZ although I didn't make it but I was close so that's another case for landing off. Oh well that means I have more money for next weekend.

Yea it wasn't that fun, but I thought the test was pretty straight forward, but I was happy I looked at my cloud clearance section again. When are you taking it? You're going to get a million different answers on here so take all of them (mine included with a skepticism). The article that Hooknswoop gives has some good points, but there are some that are very debatable. I love riding my R1 (1000cc). I've got over 8,000 miles on it since late April when I picked it up. With that being said it was my 4th road bike plus I had many dirt bikes as a kid. The important thing is to find a bike you feel comfortable on and are able to handle. Some 250cc have enough to get up and go to do some minor tooling around town, but I don't know if I'd ever ride one for a prolonged period of time, but they are an excellent intro into bikes. Someone recently made the comparison to bike size and canopy size or something along those lines. For instance if you are just starting to skydive it probably isn't the smartest thing in the world to start on some radical canopy. Just like if you were starting to ride a R1 probably wouldn't be a good fit for you. You should ease into it and figure out your flying style and you limitations. I strongly recommend taking a motorcycle safety class http://www.msf-usa.org/ These classes are excellent, cheap, and they provide the bikes. The bike I had when I took the class was a 250cc bike. Even though I had been riding for several years before I took the class I still learned a ton. It was slow at first because they cover everything as if you have no idea how to ride a bike. That is part of the reason this is such a good class for beginners to take. I hope this helps feel free to PM me for more information. Are they accepting volunteers for clean-up or help in LA? "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."

I'll let you know if I hear anything. I'm going to post something in Bonfire as well and sent a few pm's. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."

Are they accepting volunteers to help down there in this time of need? Just curious. Thanks "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."

Thanks for all the tips. Even the big bikes get good mpg. My 1000cc gets between 40-50mpg depending on how I and where I drive it. Is it OK if a dog poops in your yard?
WatchYourStep replied to WatchYourStep's topic in Speakers Corner
I know this is probably semantics here, but...a yard and a garden are different. Are you saying that the owners of dogs who poop in people's yards are irresponsible? Sorry if I didn't explain it correctly. Still learning. If you still don't believe me you can check out the DZs page at: http://www.skydivekansas.com/whazzup.asp Go down to the section where it reads "This past weekend..." read down a little ways and the DZO gives it a mention. Your opinion, so that' cool. Although I'm not really sure I understand why you're calling it, but hey whatever. Charlie is a tandem instructor, but we there weren't a lot of tandems this weekend so that's how he was able to get a few fun jumps in. On the ride to altitude I was asking one of the guys about CRW, and I said it was something I'd like to do in the future. We conversed back and forth. On the jump he flew around me a lot to make sure we had compatible canopies, but never came close to docking on me. After more talking on the ground we decided to do it the next day. (A quick background on the gentleman helping me out. He has over a 1000 jumps and loves CRW, but spends most of his time doing tandems. He has completed a 4 stack at night.) Anyways on Sunday morning we went over a ton of stuff. Mainly EPs because those were my biggest concerns. I exited first gave a short delay and deployed. I opened and had line twists, wonderful! I kicked them out and was good to go. We flew around for a little bit and I was following his instructions that he was giving me. After a few missed attempts I got the canopy and wrapped my feet in the lines. He gave it some brakes and the next thing I knew I was almost on top of him. After some flying around I came down a little farther and grabbed his leg which was between my legs, and he did the same to me. We did a downplane, I believe that's the name for it, for a few seconds, but I couldn't hold it anymore. It was amazing, and I was on cloud 9 all day. I'm looking forward to doing it again. Check out http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/service/viewmanuals/sport_manuals.aspx This is Yamaha's site that will allow you to find the owner manual based on the year and size of your bike. That's the only way to know how to correctly check the oil. Some bikes want you to check it while the bike is straight up others you do when it's on the kickstand. Go with the manual and you can't go wrong. Edit for clicky "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. I don't if he'll be able to take you up but he may know of a place near by. 316-776-1700 [url]www.aircapitaldropzone.com "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. This is funny I found this post. My SO were laying around on Sunday night and somehow Footloose came up and she said she hadn't seen it. Needless to say we went and rented it that night. Sara Jessica Parker looked better in that movie than she does now IMO. We've now dedicated Sunday evenings to 80s night for a while anyways. Here are some others, most of which she hasn't seen. Bull Durham The Goonies Short Circuit Weird Science Strange Brew The Breakfast Club Rocky Horror Picture Show (I know its from the 70s but it's sill cool.) Tron Full Metal Jacket (I still can't believe that Vincent D'Onofrio was Private Pyle you may recognize him from a show called Law & Order: CI as Det. Robert Goren. He lost some weight that's for sure.) Real Genius Top Secret Top Gun The list goes on and on. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 3:2 Awesome weekend. Saturday got to jump with my new helmet which was nice. Did my B-check dive which was fun (I passed) and I passed my written exam for my B license. I need 10 more total jumps with 4 of those having landings within 10 meters of target. There was no wind and the grass was wet from the rain so landing was fun. Those tandems really slide far. Sunday only got to do 2 jumps because I had other obligations which sucked because the weather was awesome. Did a horny gorilla which was a blast.
