I should have known that when you said OK, you didn't actually mean OK. That is the only way this becomes a strawman.
-
Actually this was what you said after mentioning what congress had voted on. That is the "reasoning" that led me to say that under this logic you might as well get rid of time zones, since that is also just moving the nominal time of daylight around a clock face in an arbitrary matter. You then said you were OK with that, but then said you didn't mean you were OK with it when you said you were OK with it. Some real scientific stuff I am sure. Anyways, DST doesn't change the amount of daytime, I think we can all agree on that. Most of us also agree that getting rid of the biannual time change is probably a good thing, even if they picked the wrong time to fix. I think we can also agree that having most people in the world have the same understanding of day, yesterday, tomorrow and when those changes happen is worthwhile. Probably would have been an easier way to say that you didn't really think through a flippant remark.
-
Uhhh no. Getting rid of time zones, which you said you were fine with, would however lead to some issues, as identified. Nice strawman though. There is such a thing as a circadian rhythm. It helps our physical and mental health when we get to align ourselves with that. I am all for eliminating the time change. However don't agree that it is all random and we are all in positions where we can just do what we want when we want, like a retired rich guy.
-
Which means that for some people the next day will start either during the middle of the day, or now you have to remember for each area at which time the next day starts. But all arbitrary anyways, we don't need days or dates either.

You seemed to imply that the people of Crimea were indifferent to Russian control, or at least at the time time unwilling to fight against Russian control. That sentiment may no longer be true, if ever present.
-
Here I thought 1998 was close enough for somebody like you to remember.
-
Didn't you earlier say the "situation on the ground changes everything". Ever think the people of Crimea have changed their opinion considering the "situation on the ground?"
-
Under that argument we should just get rid of time zones as well.
-
What is delusional is that that is what you got out of reading the posts.

That article doesn't raise any new issues. Keystone XL was already dealt with. You didn't even know the Keystone pipeline already existed. Artic drilling and drilling underneath public lands and waters we also dealt with. There is enough oil under the current leases, but the companies who hold those leases are not increasing production. Do you think Biden should force increased production, maybe nationalize the existing oil companies who are unwilling to invest in creased production?

Been out of town for a few days. To your point - it is being done. https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2001/08/03/01-19418/identification-markings-placed-on-firearms-98r-341p That is only required for the frame or receiver, not for every component. Bill is arguing for every component to have a SN.
-
Excellent. let me know how you would put a readable serial and identification number on this: And when it is not, how do you identify this one is really for a firearm? And what problem are you solving by mandating a SN on this? Do all the SN have to match? Who maintains the records when components are changed?
-
Because you would have to start defining what a gun part is, or which parts are accessories and do not need SN and which are integral to the firearm and do need a SN. That is a lot of administration for likely not much gain.

If American companies are unwilling to increase production in established drilling locations why would a wildlife reserve need to be opened for exploration?
-
US companies won't increase domestic production on existing sites.
-
I agree with this if you were to ban the ownership of guns, but there are other ways to address the ready availability of guns without restricting ownership.
-
Not much is going to solve some of the other problems associated with Daylight Savings Time though: https://savestandardtime.com/sources/#studies Should have picked Standard time to fix year round.
-
What if the method you are using to counteract the armed thugs is actually increasing the number of armed thugs?
-
I hate the time change twice a year. I really would have preferred if they had adopted standard time instead of savings time. This has been done in the past, it wasn't really a success. Can't say I am looking forward to 9 am darkness.

You are someone who appears to be homophobic and seems to have a problem with women in positions of power.
-
Try to spot the trend
-
And I am sure the GOP would survive if you ban "Sieg Heil", yet you would be the first to condemn the infringement on free speech.
-
Isn't the state banning teachers from discussing certain things the exact opposite of "exercising free speech?" You had a president who was never prepared for anything and generally just repeated whatever the last person told him. His briefings had to be notoriously short and full of pictures, cause he didn't read them. List goes on and on. You voted for that at least once, but now you are concerned that a VP doesn't speak eloquently? Nobody believes you.

I do think Trump caused Putin to not invade Ukraine during his presidency. But only because I find it conceivable that Trump made it clear he wouldn't pull the US out of NATO until his second term...wink....wink....
