It's obvious you don't watch CNN. On the contrary, on all the shows last night and this morning, the hosts were stating that Trump definitely has chosen a different path to getting Kim to the table, and gotten further with the dictator than any previous administration (read: they're admitting that Trump did a good thing here). They still agree that Trump got nothing substantial out of it while Kim got legitimacy and some exercises canceled. But, they also reported that they hope the president's faith in the progress and process will yield some positive outcomes. They will wait to see what Kim actually does to follow up these promises/claims before passing judgement on the whole endeavor. That is, like, way too nuanced. HAIL TRUMP.

He will pardon some more people in a not so subtle hint to Cohen and others that if they keep quiet they can hope for the same. Of course he will burn them in an instant once they are no longer useful. Plus I don't think that will really work for Cohen. I am sure there are enough state level crimes to put him away for along time.

Triggered? Is that what you call it when you resort to vulgarity and people answer back? At least you are slightly more clever than Marc. Even though you both keep claiming how "hilarious" you feel we are as you express your anger. Remember the Cuban missile crisis? The "libtard" JFK handled that without starting a war. I'm doubting Trump could. Remember when the libtards said Trump was gonna lead us to WWIII or a nuclear war last year? Even as early as this January and February? Doesn't look like its gonna happen now. Remember when you said Obama was going to take all your guns away? Remember when Trump said he would protect people with existing conditions? Remember when Trump said the Mexicans were going to pay for a wall? Remember when Trump said he wouldn't play any golf if elected to office? Remember when Trump said he wasn't trying to get his kids security clearances?

When I was a kid, I had an aunt who was a Pentecostal, and her adult son was a traveling evangelist. (I'm reminded of him every time I hear "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show"). This woman had scrapbooks full of news clippings about the death of Marilyn Monroe, and at ever opportunity would pull them out and bore my mother (her sister) to death talking about it. I think some people are just wired to worship celebrity. Apparently, religious faith and celebrity worship are addictions that are not unlike many others. Thankfully, however, no one is insisting that I organize my one life around the purported divinity of Elvis, make a Hajj to Graceland or accept at my doorstep badly printed copies of his writings. So that's good. You've gone dark, Ron, as you usually do when things are too close to the bone. You know it's true that humans believe because we are wired to believe. Refute the proposition or agree. I am very sorry to have disappointed you. My wife and I are enjoying personal time. I have long believed that I am from the seed of Abraham. Therefore, being wired to believe is a distinct possibility. That does not mean that I am not supposed to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ just because I am one of the selected given the honor of receiving and accepting it quicker. Spiritually or physically?

I agree that the U.S. had to try something, since what we've been doing so far hasn't worked. However, I also disagree that it should have been POTUS himself. Both Sec. States have been there -- THAT was a good first step. Jumping straight to POTUS, giving Kim legitimacy on the world stage was too much. Then not only cancelling military readiness exercises, but calling them "war games," in exchange for NO specifics on NK nuclear capabilities or sites (let alone any talk of a denuclearization plan) was just moronic. In other news -- one of the pool reporters came back saying Trump had shown a video to Kim (and other attendees) before their meeting, in Korean, then showed it to Kim directly on Trump's tablet. The video turned out to be a sales pitch. Trump seems to see N. Korea as unspoiled, CHEAP land, with really cheap labor, on which to build his next resort or high-end development. Now it's all making sense. I have said it on facebook and to family: I am calling it now. If NoKo opens borders and allows foreign investment/trade, we will find out there is a side-deal in place with Trump Inc.

Mueller claims that Russia continues to meddle and is requesting to limit disclosure on National Security grounds. I am looking forward to the GOP reasons why national security is now not important. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-06-12/mueller-seeks-order-protecting-evidence-in-russia-troll-case

And you? You still can't bring yourself to address the topic can you? You just have to go after the post. Typical but expected! I do not think the DOJ is part of the Deep State. I agree with the DOJ and the Special Counsel. I agree mostly with the DOJ position in these cases. I agree with the DOJ and their opinion the president cannot pardon himself. Pretty sure you cannot bring yourself to agree with the DOJ on those three issues, with at least one of them driven by the mystical Deep State. So I am just wondering, how do you know the Deep State has taken over?

Why would foreigners have memberships and meet with the National Rifle Association?

That is exactly what you said, it's even quoted for you.

Of course, an advantage of the parliamentary system is that the party can elect a new leader, who would become Premier, should Ford prove too damaging. What I really disliked about the campaign was the way the PC platform promised all these cuts to taxes and Hydro (electricity rates, for non-Canadians who may be wondering) without saying how anything would be paid for. I can't imagine people really want a 20-30% cut in the number of teachers, but that's what they will likely get to pay for the promised tax cuts. Same for universities, and every other government service. A tax cut might not taste so sweet when your kid suddenly finds they are in classes with 40 or 50 other kids, and when they graduate and try to go to university there is no room for them, or the major they wanted isn't offered any more. That tax cut might taste downright bitter when you have some medical emergency and find 20 or 30% of the hospitals have been closed . Don They could elect a new leader, though in practice it rarely happens. On top of that, the process is rather "shady". I agree, the platforms of all three parties were a joke. The Liberal platform was really just bread and circuses. They were giving everything to everybody and ramping up debt to do it. The Conservative platform is 2 pages of idiotic promises. $1 a beer. Cut this, cut that, no plan on where it is coming. NDP platform is take money from rich and give to poor. It also had a $1.5 billion "oopsie". The whole election was an embarrassment, I think reflected in the low voter turnout. I think the technical term is: Shit Show.

Now when you say "truth" you mean "things I can agree with" right? Cause I am willing to bet that if another charge, conviction of guilty plea comes out of the investigation you will blame it on anything but the party being charged, convicted, or pleading guilty. Truth you agree with is in your world! I'm interested in facts. But you said you more hopeful the "truth" comes out. Now you are saying you aren't really interested in 'truth". Fact is that a bunch of people have been indicted, convicted or plead guilty due to the investigation. But you aren't interested in those facts, because your "truth" is different. It makes you discount or discard those facts. Marc, as usual what you say contradicts what you said directly before it.

A Republican president picked a Republican AG, a Republican deputy-AG, a Republican Director of the FBI, leading to a Republican special counsel. That is quite the set-up by the Democrats. Did they purposely lose the election so they could get to Manafort? How does this set-up work?

No, there really weren't. I am a member of both the provincial and federal conservative party. I absolutely abhorred the "election" of Ford as the leader of the party. It normally would have caused me to vote for a different party. However, voting for the Liberals was not an option this go around. if nothing else they had to be removed from power. The NDP is too far left for me to take seriously as a candidate for my vote. It was quite the conundrum.

I think that answer is pretty simple. Because they are so easily available. That is really the only big difference between an American teenager and Canadian or Western European teenagers. You have been told this now many different ways, but you don't like that answer. You want a different answer. So rather ironic you finish the sentence with: "no matter how much we might not like what we learn". All these other things you want to address would make some difference, but not a material difference.

It would help if people, and not just employers and insurers but everyone, would start recognizing mental health problems the way we do more physical problems and treatment was provided and sought out. It would be. The rest of the world deals with mental health issues as well, though mass shootings are rare in developed nations. Hence, hard to put too much faith in better mental healthcare preventing mass shootings.
-
Definitely. Looking at bullying (and social media amplification, and better mental health diagnosis and treatment) are all good things to do. Still, no matter how much you work to head such behavior off, it can happen. I think everyone would agree that if a kid does snap, it would be best if they can't get their hands on an AR-15. Do you believe that there is a way to keep kids from being able to get their hands on a firearm they could use to carry out a school shooting? Considering a large part of the rest of the world has been able to. Yeah, I am pretty sure it is possible. There is precedent. Would you suggest otherwise?

Agreed, there is no single one cause for violence. And agreed, violence will never go away. Like I said, focus on one side on decreasing the incidence of violent actions. Things like better mental health care, less desensitization to violence helps. On the other hand, the tools used during the violent action to a large extent shape the severity of the outcome. Imagine football hooligans all armed with guns. Then imagine school violence with mainly just property damage. Which would you prefer?
-
I don't see that, though if you're correct maybe I wouldn't. But statements like "social media does not cause mass shootings" seem pretty unambiguous. Because it is factually correct. Otherwise there would have been no school shootings prior to the advent of social media. There have been, plenty. You can take away all social media and still have school shootings. You can't take away all guns and still have school shootings. You can take away all the guns and still have school violence. Nothing is going to work 100%. I believe the goal should be to reduce quantity and severity of school violence (and violence in general). Social media, mental health care, glorification of violence etc all deal with the frequency of the violence. Availability of guns deals with the severity of the violence. Most people would be able to understand that dealing with one side should not mean not dealing with the other side.

Most of the right-wingers have been run out of here by the vitriol of the left. I'm one of the few long-termers that have stuck around. Don't post as much as I used to I just point out the hypocrisy and the blatant lies. I come here for the synopsis of the likes of CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and MSNBC. Just a couple posts and you have it all. The talking points of those left-wing media sites are parroted here very quickly! You know, speaking of TV news programs, it's quite telling, the direction this nation is going, when Hannity on Fox News has the highest rated news show, and Fox has 14 of the top 20. And then there's CNN's top show, Anderson Cooper 360, sitting waaaaay down there at 24. People are getting tired of CNN's bullshit. https://www.scribd.com/document/375471374/Top-Cable-News-Programs-for-Q1-2018-Total-Viewers Hannity....that's this guy right: Hannity: This information being reported is absolutely false, my sources say this never happened!!! FAKE NEWS. 20 minutes.... Hannity: So, CNN was right. But who cares, here is a video of a car crash. Have a good night. Yeah, I think it is indeed telling many Americans watch a show like that for their news. I think it says something else than what you think it shows.

Maybe if there was a 6th or 7th investigation like With Hillary. But the investigation is still finding all kinds of people breaking the law. You don't seem to care about that. You are fine with these people breaking the law? You feel they should just get away with it? Why do you not want people to be held to the law?
-
If it is so blatantly illegal, why hasn't the president been able to challenge it in the courts and have it stopped? I mean Manafort tried and lost, but I am sure Trump is much smarter. And if the president has done nothing wrong, what is wrong with the investigation? The GOP has generally told people that if you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about.
