Feel free to supply your stats to prove me wrong. Here is the data I am going off: https://statisticalatlas.com/neighborhood/California/San-Jose/East-San-Jose/Race-and-Ethnicity#overview
-
East San Jose is approx. 90% Hispanic or Asian. Not very close to multicultural and spending a lot of time there would certainly not expose you to a multicultural environment. So, no, not very obvious you understand what multicultural is.
-
That looks an awful lot like a knee jerk defensive reaction without a ton of thought.
-
I don't know what you think, I can only go by what you typed.
-
No, I have not spent my life in Canada. Though my life before Canada was pretty homogeneous and white. And if you think Mexican is multi-cultural, I would suggest you look up what "multi" means.
-
Below is quote what you said, please feel free to explain how this isn't supposed to imply you feel white privilege doesn't exist in the armed forces. "I'm not denying that there is a form of cultural bias in the civilian world, but you and I come from a world where everyone is green and our frame of reference is skewed from those who have not served, and we had to rely on many ethnicities as part of our team and all were held to the same standard." There is an abundance of evidence, some of it presented here in links that clearly not everyone is green in the armed forces. You as (I presume) a white guy may have thought so. Would seem there are quite a few non-white fellow service members who disagree with you. If you want to discard all of that, fine, but in my experience that isn't what "brothers" do to each other. There is no doubt that POC are underrepresented in leadership positions in the armed forces. If it isn't due to white privilege, why do you think that is? And if you think only the military has teams with multiple ethnicities, you are mistaken. I have spent my adult life working in Toronto and last few years in Vancouver. Toronto is pretty widely regarded as the most multi-ethnic city in the world. Vancouver's Caucasian population is smaller than those of visible minorities combined. I have never worked in a homogeneous team.
-
So the lack of representation is due to them just not working hard enough and just not being capable. Got it.
-
Nobody is saying they shouldn't bother. What you are saying is that white privilege doesn't exist. Therefor the lack of black leadership in the armed forces for instance has to be due to something else. What do you think it is? What would you tell young black people what the reason is they are not represented at the highest leadership?
-
We are discussing white privilege. White privilege is what allows white people to get out of the trenches more easily than black people. You seemed to argue that this concept didn't exist in the armed forces. Clearly it does. Your attitude is exactly what stands in the way of progress. The statements you are making are no different than the standard: I have a black friend. Do better.
-
This guy was in the armed forces There have only ever been 2 black men to serve on the Joint Chiefs. Don't think there has ever been a female on the Joint Chiefs. 96 Operational Army Brigades. Only 2 are led by black colonels. Rest of the statistics are all here Like I said, the statistics show your comment simply isn't true. White privilege is clearly and demonstrably established in the Armed Forces. Unless you want to argue that black people simply do not have leadership qualities?
-
I am going to have to call bullshit on that. Might be your perception, but there are plenty of stories of blatant sexism and racism that simply isn't get dealt with in the armed forces. The idea that it is something that doesn't exist is insane. How many white, male generals. How many BIPOC and/or female generals?
-
No it doesn't. Googled it. It is on Hulu. Hulu isn't available in Canada.
-
Looks like a lot of people don't understand the difference between "making good choices" and "having good choices".
-
Yes, but I have a feeling you don't.
-
So because LSU tried to protect a cash cow white privilege doesn't exist? So far we have had a white star athlete being convicted of rape but barely getting a sentence. A black athlete being falsely accused and going to prison and a whole program being protected. You can't spot the white privilege in those examples? Can a person be that blind?
-
Do your kids a favour and just tell them you don't like them very much. It will be devastating, but beats finding out dad took them places with higher risks of getting covid.

Are you really this ignorant? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Banks_(American_football)

Public service announcement for Trump supporters
SkyDekker replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
For old white guys "defund the police" sounds like "black people are coming to kill me". -
When you are selling it might be worthwhile to have an appraisal to give guidance around pricing. Realtors will do it for free, but for a Realtor getting the highest price is not necessarily the biggest motivator.
-
Contracts that specifically state only white people are. The fact that it got changed because it was a police officer and it went to the press shows what is required for change to happen. Since the 50s that contract said only for the remains of white human beings. All those decades nobody thought that was something that needed to change. How would you feel if you were trying to arrange the burial of your spouse and were told the colour of their skin was a problem?
-
Here you go
-
There are still cemeteries where only white people can be buried. Just a small example of the continuing racism that is pervasive and institutional. We aren't even close to MLK Jr. dream, and it has absolutely nothing to do with wokeness. That is just another excuse for racists to use, telling themselves they are not racist, they are just not "woke" AND they have a black friend.

Specially concerning is that slowing the mutating of the virus into ever changing variants is really only possible by slowing the spread: vaccinations!
