I worry a lot less about that than I do about road rash on the face. But I tend to not wear my helmet if I'm doing short low speed trips in areas I know pretty well(a cruise along the beach, to the store, etc). For everything else it's a full face helmet, body armor, kevlar reinforced gloves and steel toe shoes.

Moby has some good songs, a lot of drek though too. If you like Moby, you might also want to check out Massive Attack. Mezzanine is their best album, but 100th Window is pretty good too.

No idea what the logic is behind my tipping, but I tip: Food delivery, grocery delivery, but not mail/UPS delivery. Packers, but not coaches/instructors(aside from beer and maybe rarely buying them an extra jump ticket if they really helped me out). Taxi drivers. Valet parking, when they get my car(not when they take it). Room service. My barber. Waitresses(but I never put money in those stupid tip jars at a fast food joint, unless I want to dump loose change I'd rather not carry). If someone was doing mechanical type work for me and went the extra mile, I wouldn't tip, but I would buy them beer or something to show my appreciation. I guess I tend to tip low paying service jobs, don't tip higher paying or more "professional" service jobs, but will buy them beer or whatever if they go above and beyond the norm.

If I had 7-10 days and was tripping to Florida, I'd go March/April and hit the area around Orlando. You have several dropzones all right in that area, the wind tunnel, and you could also hit Disney for a day.

But the Vigil claims to be water resistant like the Cypres II, correct? Don't think so. From their website: "Water resistance VIGIL® will be available soon."

after one jump - exhilarated and nauseous!
MarkM replied to monkeyhippy's topic in Introductions and Greets
It's not that uncommon for tandems to get nausea. The harness might be too tight or you can get nauseous if the tandem master makes a lot of turns. I did a tandem once and also got nauseous. If you learn to skydive on your own it shouldn't be an issue. The only times I get nauseous is if I make a lot of turns under canopy while looking at the ground. So I just avoid doing that. -
Any chance the total value of the stolen gear he sold you was over $2,000? If so, contact the FBI. I doubt you'll ever get any money back, but you may end up being able to get the SOB prosecuted.

Will a cloned human be made of matter? Will they be physically animated by energy? Why would soul stuff be any different?

Well, I was gonna clean my apartment sometime in Sept, but if it'll help my sitfly I guess I could put it off for another half year or so.

I think it's a tandem only operation. Once or twice a year there's a boogie that goes on at another key, but outside of that I don't think there's any fun jumping going on down at the keys.

Pia, this must mean we're destined for each other... God I hope it doesn't mean that. I've gone through about 1-2 boxes of cheerios a week since I was 5 and frankly, you're not my type.

I'm not too certain. I'd check, but the site I downloaded it from http://avatar.mad-sky.com/ isn't up right now.

Just go cold turkey. You'll be miserable for about a week or two, but after that you'll be fine. I used to drink Coke as my only fluid intake from around age 13 til 32, which was about a year ago. I'd go through something like 3 liters of soda a day. It didn't take too long for the cravings to go away and now I'm pretty much just on lemonade and water. But that first week or two without it is hell. Get past that and you won't even miss it anymore.

1> Pay off my debt. 2> Setup my nieces and nephews so they're all paided up for any college expenses they want. 3> Buy a nice bit of land somewhere semi-remote in Florida and have a nice house built on it, incuding a small hanger. 4> Get a small plane able to land on a short grass runway, get licensed to fly it, and use that to travel to the local DZ from my home when I feel like going out to make some jumps(why drive?). 5> Start up my own business that I'd enjoy doing.

1998 Dodge Neon in great condition, stick shift, no air conditioner, only 64k miles on it and it's worth a little over half what my rig is worth. Summer in Florida sucks without air in your car, but the cost of having it installed would take away from my jump money or saving for that new canopy I want to buy and summer only lasts for a few months anyway I'd love to get a new car, but whenever I think about having to make car payments again I can't help but think about how I could use that money on jumps or to pay off loans. So I think I'm going to end up driving my car until the wheels fall off.

No point in solos? You can already do side sliding, full body turns, start and stop on a dime, fly belly with your hands behind your back, fly stable on your hands and knees(hunched up in a ball), swoop, track stable with your hands behind your back and legs crossed, back track, do on heading barrel rolls while tracking, sitfly, stand, and go head down, all of which you can practice solo and some of which you can't do in a tunnel?

I don't think this is at all unusual. People today are generally very sheltered from death. There's an old obscure cliche that people that grow up on a farm handle the grieving process more easily, because they were exposed to death a lot more as children(having to deal with animals on the farm dying). Just because you don't feel the same drama as others, doesn't make you jaded or mean you don't care. You just have a different perspective on death that's based on more exposure to it.

How many jumps before you purchased your own rig?
MarkM replied to Skylark's topic in Safety and Training
I bought my first rig at around jump 10 or so because I wanted a BOC system and a rig that fit me better. I never did jump it because around jump 18 or so(and 2 years later) I bought my customized Mirage and a newer reserve to fit that. I kept the main from my first rig though and I still jump that. -
I've put about 110 jumps in this year so far. LOL, kidnap your boyfriend and move to Florida. The season here doesn't start for another month or so and the boogies don't start to ramp up until Oct.

Got my A, skipping my B and getting my C for a boogie this November. If it wasn't for that I'd probably skip the C and just get my D.

You mean the military has to brief you? What do they talk to you about?

But what if "everything to lose" meant you'd lose it if you didn't act?

Does IUPU still count at Purdue?

Wow, what a cheerful crowd. Relationships suck, men are lying bastards... If you like the guy, just say fuck it and jump in with both feet. If it doesn't work out you can always cutaway, get drunk at a DZ party and have "get over my ex" sex with someone you barely like. This is the way of life.

You didn't use a smiley. It's web law to always use a smiley when conveying subtle sarcasm humor.
