  1. Christains are: Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, Mormans, etc etc and each of those sects has sub sects: United Methodists, First United Methodist, etc etc. I'm guessing there's more than one Islam belief structure out there.
  2. Think the easiest solution I've heard would be to use a student cypres with a round reserve.
  3. You might also consider letting premier members upload attachments to posts that are larger than the current set limit.
  4. Instead of keeping the leg straps symetric, tighten them up to where you feel the same amount of tension on your shoulders in the harness when you shrug them. See if that affects it any.
  5. Ribbons are so 90's. Everyone knows that tie dye rigs are the 00 way of supporting troops, fight against aids, props to big breasted chicks and all the other important events in our current lives.
  6. A problem with the poll is that it'll get skewed by us low jumpers. I've never had a reserve ride, but with only 160 jumps that's no surprise.
  7. It's a hard call to make without at least knowing how much you weigh. I've had a 150 reserve since around jump 30 or so, but then I only weigh 140lbs without gear and jumped in a location that offered plenty of good outs. Figure that if your main doesn't work you'll be under that 160 with maybe only a thousand feet to get used to it with a good possibility of an out landing. Also remember, you don't have to buy a complete rig. You can buy the container you want from person A, the main you want from person B and the reserve from person C. The containers all have sizes and you can look up what size main/reserves will fit in each size. Don't rush it. Take your time and get exactly the gear you want, you'll probably be using it for awhile.

    Sittin's Hard

Hmm, about 10 to get a stable knees to chest, ass to earth starting position(I call it my fetal position, I go back it when things go horribly wrong) then maybe another 10 or 15 before I got my legs down and not have them slide out from under me. Maybe another 20 before I could snap into a sit quickly and hold it very steady with the heading I wanted. Standing came easy to me, maybe 3 or 4 jumps. I'm still learning how to move forward and back. I also have to concentrate a lot still on my sit, so much so that I can maybe sit and track one other person in my airspace(more only if they're all in front of me). It's starting to feel like a natural body position though. I've ended up snapping into a sit on some belly jumps when my two partners split off, slid and sank away from me. I didn't think about it, just sat, sank, hovered and spectated.
  9. And Mario face plants a landing on load two. Priceless. I gotta say, the HAHO some of us did on load one kicked ass. Watching a blood red moon rise over the Atlantic at 12k while under canopy is breathtaking. I wish Sebastian did night jumps more often.
  10. Another option other than the Spectre would be a Triathlon. They've been in production for quite awhile and they're pretty easily to pick up on the used market. They're very similar canopies. But anyway. Personally I'd look at what people at your DZ are jumping, go online and get some prices/models and then take those around to the people at your DZ and get several opinions. Skydivers love to talk about their gear and there are a lot of good gear choices out there. You already found out something about the one container you looked at from your instructor, just keep looking around and bring him more ideas.
  11. No. I'd always be wondering if they thought I was doing poorly. Spot: "Dude, WTF you doing man? You go at her from behind! God damn bipeds, don't know how to screw properly."

So if all your friends jumped off a cliff, you would t- Oh wait, sorry, that one doesn't work here. You guys are the type of people my mother warned me about
  13. Try to find out what's causing the headaches. I used to have month long ones where alcohol would be the only thing that would reduce them. I was finally diagnosed with TMJ, got braces and that fixed the problem. Your doctor can also prescribe more effective headache medicine too.
  14. Then make them jump for 30 days without their cypres and see if their altitude attitude changes any.
  15. Pay attention to their altitude? I hardly think a fear of getting grounded for 30 days is going to make anyone more aware of altitude than the fear of death does.
  16. It's easier to tell if someone has been drinking beer than it is to see if someone just rolled. Not really. I've not jumped with an instructor(btw, this was years ago at a DZ no longer around) because I could smell they would light up between loads. Pot has a pretty distinctive smell. Also, a lot of people can reach a level of impairment with alcohol before they'd show anything. It doesn't have to make you stumbling drunk, just slow you down. As for pot not being as impairing, next time you're up at Skydive Chicago ask around about Ron bouncing off the swoop pond. I think it comes down to personal responsibility and just being smart about it. I know people who use some or drink a lot, but it's not a problem as they don't dive under the influence. And if you're stupid enough to do that, you're probably stupid enough to kill yourself in other ways. I watched Ron almost die a year or so before he hit the pond at Chicago just from being a little sloppy. It was probably the same sloppiness(jumping while high) that got him in Chicago. I don't think it's the substance, but the attitude you take with it. And this is coming from someone who's practically a Morman.
  17. It stayed mostly inflated and was in a fairly classic bow-tie lineover type config after cutaway, probably from the risers flying back up into the canopy. It really wasn't hard to find as it was pretty easy to track on the way down. I'm guessing the winds were 10-15 and it came down about a 300 yards from the freebag.
  18. No, it's not. Right now SE Florida just has Clewiston, Homestead, Sebastian and I guess Labelle.
  19. Why is it a big deal to buy someone beer even if you don't drink it yourself? I never did like the taste of beer(don't like coffee or tea either, so sue me), but I've bought beer plenty of times. But if it's a big deal, just buy pizza instead. Pizza at the end of a day of skydiving is awesome. I once owed beer and pizza for landing next to a road. I think I spent like 70 bucks on pizza that night, but everyone had a great time. You'll never see a bigger grin on a skydiver's face than when you walk up to them with beer and pizza right when they land from the sunset load.
  20. I'm 5'6". It's less distance to drop when I fall down drunk.
  21. Unfortunately no. There's too much air traffic to run a DZ in the Boca/Fort Lauderdale area. From Boca it would be about an equal length trip to Sebastian or Homestead, about an hour and a half.
  22. Used to jump a Triathlon 160 and switched to a Hornet 150 about 6 jumps ago, which would be similar from going from a Spectre to a Sabre 2. My Hornet doesn't sink as quickly which has been causing me to adjust how I plan my landings. My first couple landings I really overshot my target. On the plus, it feels like the Hornet doesn't lose as much altitude during a non-aggresive turn. On my Tri I'd always be shy about turning below certain altitudes because I could drop very fast, but I don't feel that as much with the Hornet. I think the Hornet is also more sensative to turbulance. On the Tri I'd hear people complain about bad turbulance on a particular landing, but I'd never really notice it myself. I feel it a lot more under the Hornet. The landings on the Hornet I'm still figuring out. It's just different, but I can't explain how. Oh, and when I'm doing hard turns up at altitude, the Hornet will crank out some kick ass radical turns. Or at least "radical" to someone who's been flying a 7 cell boat for the last 150 jumps
  23. On that chart, is there any reason why a Triathlon 175 has a 382 cu in volume while a Triathlon 160 has a 419?
  24. Is this the one? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Personal_Galleries/windcatcher/Sarahs_Pics/Boogie_Pictures&image=sarahdesirae.jpg&img=&tt= Here's another one that shows your face more: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Personal_Galleries/windcatcher/Sarahs_Pics/Boogie_Pictures&image=sarahchad.jpg&img=&tt= I think the long hair looks nice on you. But I understand how much of a PITA it can be, I used to have long hair myself. Now it's extremely short and never a hassle. But then I was never good looking so I don't have to worry about how I look
