MySpace is just a tool. I wish people would stop putting so much drama onto it, like it was some sort of social phenomenon. Yes a lot of people on it are shallow, insecure morons. But guess what? Most people are shallow insecure morons at some point in their life. Who cares? Myspace actually works pretty well for skydivers, to keep in touch with other jumpers at DZs, find new jumpers in your area and so on. And the drama, clicks, attention whoring, etc on dz.com isn't any better either.

Weather in the midwest during July / Aug is pretty decent. In your shoes, I'd probably go to SDC and maybe look into road tripping with some people from that area to the WFFC in August. It's not that far from there.

It's the UPS guy that ticks me off. Never shows up at the same time of day. Doesn't leave a note on the door when he drops it off at the leasing office and sometimes just sets it in front of my apartment door. One package he left at my door had "video camera" labeled clearly on it.

Depends if you have analog cable or digital cable. If you have analog cable you can get cards for your computer to record cable quite easily. Do a search for Hauppauge PVR-250 for a nice one. Do a search for MythTV for software that works as a media center. Digital cable requires the cable box to decode the stream. You can hack around it by having your computer run the digital box(using a IR blaster to change the channels), but I think CableCards work with the digital TV format and should be available for computers at some point.

I think his point isn't that they lack certain facilities, so much that they're lying in their advertising about what facilities they do have. -
I thought the EU gas prices were so high due to taxes?

If you go early enough you can get the jumps in in either place. I've found that both DZs tend to end a little early in the day. Sebastian which is 2 hours north of Fort Lauderdale tends to see more loads go up and the jumping usually goes on til sunset.

No, when I was a student I waited in line like everyone else. And the reason I went through being a student is because I was surrounded by a lot of happy fun jumpers doing crazy shit I wanted to be a part of. -
I think the jumps at Clewiston are a little cheaper. Or you can have them just road trip to Sebastian. For the view, I think it's worth it.

Skydive Miami is a pretty good place to do a tandem south of Sebastian.

It's a power trip! Money leads to power and when you have money you want more, I imagine power is much the same (generalization here not sayin every man is power or $ hungry). I think life is more complex than what you can cover in simple generalizations like that. And a lot of the time when you really look into the motivations for why people do the things they do you end up surprised more often than not.

Yes, though when she put on the Jii-Wings suit I thought there was gonna be a stampede at the DZ from everyone crowding around to get a look. They need to put a warning label on those things about them attracting the opposite sex.

Mine was shipped to me extremely fast(3 weeks from ordering) and actually fit me. I put maybe 180 jumps on it before a tooth broke off on the zipper(still works, just harder to zip up). But otherwise it held up well. It was my first suit, so I wanted something cheap enough I wouldn't care about destroying it on a bad landing. If they had better quality control, I'd recommend them more. But as it is, I hear about too many people getting a wrong sized suit. It's really a shame, they're a nice looking suit.

Last time I asked Paralog about Neptune Linux support, they didn't offer it simply because they didn't know how to get the Neptune to work under Linux. They would actually like to be able to support it.

The main thing I don't like about Mylar ribs is that they tend to break after you own the wingsuit for awhile.

There should be an extra blank page in one of the manuals. Sprinkle lemon juice on it and the text will show up then.

I'll be up for that. I'm wondering if it'd be doable to fly the wingsuits with the strobes on. That would give a good visual for safe flocking, and let the peeps on the ground track the flight.
