I think the type of battery the Neptune uses goes from full voltage to dead in almost no time, so the battery indicator doesn't work too well. They did some recent updates to make the indicator more accurate, but your best bet is to just change the battery every now and then. Change them especially if you're going to do a night jump. The backlight really drains it and it sucks when the thing dies on you at 5k on a HAHO.

Jump it. And if it opens better than your normal pack jobs, buy enough rigs that you can have every pack job "age properly" for 13 weeks.

You probably shouldn't mention that to a woman you want to date...

I just say camping. If they're really interested in it, I'll explain I camp at dropzones. So many people get the wrong idea about skydiving. I feel real pity for the base jumpers though. -
I packed myself a step through about 2 months ago. After cursing myself out after the opening, I did control checks and landed it fine. It flew a little bit differently because the risers weren't seperating as much as normal(twisted together). But if you can't control it, it's not a landable parachute IMO.

So doesn't anyone else just hang passively under their docile canopy all pissed off at ther rushed crappy packjob while it untwists itself?

The problem is you're going to get into some wicked flatspins when you start to try new things and you probably don't yet have the skill to get out of them quickly. Flying a lot on your belly in a wingsuit first will help you develop the feel you need to twist out of a spin quickly.

Cheerios. Been eating them since I was like 1 or 2.

This isn't done via friction, but ram pressure. When you enter the atmosphere at high speeds you create a shockwave and compress the air in front of it which heats up. The force rides the shock layer a very short distance from the object and heats it up without actually contacting it. But if you're in orbit, you're travelling really really fast to keep the 80% of Earth's gravity that's still there from pulling you back down. So any skydiver suit would have to handle 1500-3000F for a solid 10 mins of reentry. Now if you go from 0 speed from suborbit and only reach mach 3 like Spaceship One did, you'd only have to deal with 1000F. That's probably a much better place to start from

If you chould choose only one thing which would you choose

Well, you can always have sex. But how often can you own a pet monkey. -
Hey, it works in the movies! Or, go up to her, hit her and run away. This always worked for me in elementary school.

Flying your canopy can be a lot of fun, it doesn't have to be something that just gets you to the ground. Also, you don't have to be one of those guys flying a highly loaded eliptical to have fun with a canopy too. It's really good that you're reading the incidents and doing risk assessment though.

Donna: Where's my cat? Rocco: I killed your cat you druggie bitch. Donna: What? Why? Rocco: Because I felt it would bring closure to our relationship. Donna: You killed my... my... Rocco: Your what!? You've so peaked. It's all downhill from here. Next year it'll be prune juice and off to bed by 8pm.

[reply why doesnt dz.com have a new section to the classified's? the personal classifieds section?? seems like a simple thing to set up and i dont see why it couldnt work. Because Sang is good at math. 85-90% of the sport is male. Doesn't make for a good matchup market. I've never done much with Match. I'm too much of a chicken when it comes to the whole dating thing. But I had a co-worker who used it for awhile but stopped because he got tired of doing better with hookups and dates when he was playing games. It was just too much work for him. But as long as you're careful I don't see how you have anything to lose but time by trying them out.

Geesh. If I owned a cat and it tried this with me, it better go for the jugular, because a insane 10lb cat attacked a pissed off 150lb Mark won't end well for the cat.

It says "ADD and audible required". Anybody with ADD definitely needs an audible. Ah, I missed the ADD part. I have a problem paying attention sometimes....

Why the audible requirement?

Katie always has the best smile I've ever seen in all of her photos. She could model if she wanted to. I really enjoy how half the threads on this site end up with the girls posting images. You gotta love sky chicas. Keep the eye candy coming girls

I don't recall the cause of death being listed as "lack of Cypres". Another really famous bird guy went in because their Cypres fired during a swoop. I don't recall his death blamed on the Cypres either. It's just another tool.

Introduction and some newbie questions
MarkM replied to EricGleason's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hello and welcome to the forums. AFF training will cost you 1-1.5k and you can complete it in 7 or 8 jumps. After you graduate that, you will be cleared for solo jumping at that dropzone. Then you can work towards your A license, which clears you to jump at other dropzones and to jump with other jumpers. You can make your first jump on the same day you show up and you can make several jumps within the same day. Gear rental varies a lot. Some places charge per jump($30-50), other places may charge 1 amount for a whole day. The jumps themselves normally run $20-22 each. A good used rig with a main, reserve and Cypres might run you around 3-4k. I don't know NY DZs, I'm sure others here do and will post, but your best bet is to just see if you like and get along with the instructors and staff when you show up to a DZ and start to ask questions.
