This thread inspired me to watch PBS's Jonestown: Life and Death of People's Temple. It's a great documentary, though I don't think it's something I'd want to see again in light of the subject matter... Sarah Palin thinks Africa is a country?

Some of my best musical moments were listening to Jimi and Mitch working their magic...1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)/Moon Turn the Tides, what an incredible solo, Same with long version of Voodoo Chile. One of the most under-recognized drummers in my opinion. Listening to his complex and incredibly fast snare rolls really blew my mind at times. I loved watching him drum in the Monterey video too, he put his body and soul into what he did, and you could hear it. RIP Mitch, your music will live forever. No need to be so verbose...why not just say "communion?" Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Care to show us just WHAT the Dems have done since getting control of congress in 07 to change that? ... Yeah, that's what I thought. That's why I didn't vote in this election. If McCain or Obama had made an issue of the Patriot Act at all (neither of them did), I may have been motivated enough to get out there and vote. How old is that in Sasquatch years? Anyhow, I'm sure you know this already, but make sure you keep him well-fed, otherwise... And when he gets old enough for a tandem, please be sure to post video. I'm curious to see what he looks like. I have this picture but I think it's pretty outdated...please post one if you have. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

By that, are you referring to the Constitution? Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

I disagree. Fox news coverage of Ron Paul after the debates...with Ron Paul leading the polls as winner throughout that night. It was his party (with the help of the media) that held him back more than anything. He won many debates, not just that one sponsored by Fox News. If he'd have gone Libertarian after the primaries he would have had a much more significant impact on this election. Ron Paul also received more donations from military personnel than any other republican candidate. I think that says something. You and I have disagreed about Ron Paul in the past and we will continue to...nothing wrong with that. Personally, I find his speeches more inspiring than any American politician I've heard in a very long time, and I will continue to support him while you and others trivialize him. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

BS. Most people I mention Ron Paul to have a different opinion than I do about him? Well? Is it just that people who don't agree with you are ignorant? What I meant is just what I said -- most people I mention him to know little to nothing about him. Meaning that (since it's unclear to you) they've neither read much about him nor heard much about him on the tv or radio, so they didn't have much of an opinion on him. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Everybody understood him completely. BS. Most people I mention Ron Paul to know next to nothing about him. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Of course not! Especially in the last eight years...that sure hasn't happened. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Oh I see...so NOW you tell us. Seriously though, if I remember correctly, don't you work in the military contracting business? If so, are you afraid you're going to lose your job in the coming months? Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Could you please explain the relevance of 10th Nov... for a thick Brit? Marine Corps Birthday. And I just received my invitation to the (Chicago) Navy/Marine Corps Birthday Ball

I think you're jumping the gun a bit here quade. I like your optimism, but Obama will only make right on your statement by ending the Iraq war (as promised) and by putting and end to no-bid contracts for defense contractors that have been in bed with the current administration for some time. We ordinary citizens aren't privy to what goes on behind the scenes and we don't yet know whether the military-industrial influence is bigger than the presidency, be it a republican or democratic presidency. I hope you will be proven correct. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

That's the McCain I supported many years back. Wish we could have seen more of that honesty during the campaign. Very classy speech. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

I can't believe you people. Not one positive post about Nancy Grace in this thread. I find her self-righteous indignation to be an inspiration to all Americans and our way of life. I feel like draping myself in the flag and beating my chest (and beating myself stupid in patriotic delirium for that matter) every time I see her talk. I think she's great, best news personality since O'Reilly. Open your eyes people. Great! A lot of good that did. Live in reality. We have a 2 party system at this moment and the rest is a waste of time. That what we got. I think your original post was pretty gutsy...bravo. I was going to make a "why i'm not voting" thread but didn't feel like getting crucified today. I agree with your posts in this thread...especially the one quoted above. I've been voting third party since 1992 and this is the first presidential election where I am not voting...because I am simply jaded at the way our political system and media block third parties from having any effect. Realistically, if I were to vote third party again, all that would amount to is a percentage point on the bottom of the tv screen for a few moments this evening. Hardly my idea of "my voice being heard." ...and hardly worth waiting 45+ minutes in line for. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

A libertarian's viewpoint on Obama
masterblaster72 replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
Okay, with all of that said, what has Obama done (and say he will do) to defend and restore our Constitutional rights and undoing the Patriot Act? I ask because I haven't heard much from him on this at all (nor have I heard much from McCain). Seems like constitutional rights have not been much of an issue in this campaign from either side.
