  1. I enjoyed the grotesque irony in this quote from the senate minority leader: Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  2. I just canceled my vacation on account of the swine flu. Don't want to take any chances flying twice in one week when something like this is going around. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  3. Animal style! w/ Animal Style Fries! Damn them for being 2 blocks from my home! DAMN THEM! Wish they had In-and-Out here on the east coast. Animal style is the only kind I tried from in-and-out when I was in California, and it was one of the best burgers I ever tasted. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  4. Hey stop being mean. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  5. I think that was when I first understood the true meaning of sin. I knew it was wrong, but I was hoping Kharlamov was gone for the series so bad anyway. I would rank that up there as one of the most despicable acts committed in a hockey arena. Your reaction really sums it up nicely. Are you talking about this hit by Bobby Clarke in the 1972 Summit Series? The video says the name is Pospisil...unless this isn't the hit you're referring to. I'd hate to think that there's a hit worse than this one. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  6. The Flyers. God I hope not! My hate for them and Bobby Clarke is now in its fourth decade. I hope that I die without ever seeing them hoist the Cup again. That being said, Clarke has provided me with a couple of good laughs over the years. Most recently when he was cutting up Eric Lindros (a player I've always despised...even more than the Flyers) during their feud and a long time ago when Hockey Night in Canada introduced a "Sounds of the Game" feature that was LIVE. Bruce Hood, the referee, sent Clarke to the penalty box, the camera was on Clarke, the microphone was turned on and Clarke yelled "HOOD YOU FUCKIN QUEER!" Profuse apologies from the CBC announcers and the end of the experiment. Haha! Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  7. The team that no one in this thread has mentioned is going to win it all. That team is the Philadelphia Flyers. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  8. 1. He's not "my guy" -- I didn't vote for him. In fact I am appalled at his wreckless spending, which his predecessor initiated. 2. I'm not doing anything for "my guy" -- certainly not defending him. I simply don't give a shit because this controversy is utterly meaningless. His bow will not affect anything in our everyday lives. I expected him to be smarter than to give a bullshit explanation for what looked like an obvious bow. But again, I simply don't care about his gesture to the king. However, I still think that he's heaps smarter than the last guy. Still doesn't mean he's "my guy." I agree wholeheartedly with that, and I've been voting third party for as long as I've been voting. Unfortunately, the rest of the nation hasn't followed suit and it looks like they won't for a very long time. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  9. It's simple -- it's the same kind of fake outrage over the attached picture during the campaign. Anything to take a jab at a democrat in power. You can bet your bank account that if Bush had made this gesture to the Saudi king that you'd hear nothing about it from the same folks making a big deal out of this in this thread. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  10. So what's your beef with Jenny McCarthy? Do you work for a pharmaceutical company? I know she's not a scientist, but thanks to the information she shares about how she treated her son's autism, my nephew is doing much better than he was doing a couple years ago, when he couldn't talk or communicate in any way due to his autistic condition. He's now in first grade with typical children. I'd like to run this by the fellow who wrote that article you linked to. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  11. I suppose he lied in an attempt shut up the Limbaugh dittoheads out there who he knew would make a big deal out of utterly meaningless bullshit like this. Granted, it was a very lame explanation, and they could have fielded the needless controversy in a much more forthcoming way. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  12. OMG!!! I KNOW!!! Can you believe this??? What kind of Christian...er, I mean MUSLIM...is our President, holding a seder at the White House? Oh, and never mind that butt-buddy relationship that the Bushes had with Saudi royalty. This is SO much worse!!! Here's to hoping that the republican minority in Congress calls for an impeachment!! Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  13. http://www.thelocal.se/15940/20081126/ http://welcometosweden.blogspot.com/2008/08/immigration-issues-in-sweden.html China has immigrant population 3,852,000 Maybe you should re-think. Nice one. I myself thought the China/Sweden analogy was infinitely stupid and ignorant...way to set it straight. American jingoism seems to go hand-in-hand with ignorance of countries outside the US. 14. The earthquake happened in the capital of the region that my family is from, Abruzzo. Fortunately, our part of the region is about an hour south of where the earthquake hit -- they felt it there but no damage resulted. Damn shame this happened, I was planning on visiting L'Aquila later this month when I go to Italy. Abruzzo is a beautiful place, but it's a seismic time bomb. 15. unlikely. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  16. Don't forget this. Ah yes, the obligatory "tin foil hat" response to ideas that stray from the norm. Read about the formation of the Federal Reserve in the early 1900s, and you may find that there is at least *some* truth to what Canuck posted. And if you're open-minded enough, you might find that it is reasonable to question our monetary establishment. 17. So true -- I've been to many a crappy therapist and I can say first hand that they can make things worse. If anyone feels after many tries that their therapist isn't helping, it's time to move on and look for the next (kind of like dating). Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  18. I think it's because you shed some calories and in turn lost some body heat. You need the calories and fluids to replenish yourself. I noticed after long runs (17+ miles) I would get the chills no matter how hot it was outside. That's my uneducated guess...I suggest eating something or at least drinking something with caloric value. Happy runnin'... Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  19. It's not just a current generation. "Celebrity journalism" has been around since well before we were born; and that's the audience this story is catering to. For example, I used to think Angelina Jolie was attractive. Now, thanks to the overkill of seeing her face on my screen or on magazine covers every single goddam day for the past 3 years, I've decided to burn her in effigy this weekend. That sounds good. I will bring an effigy of Paris and Britney and we can make that fire burn a little brighter. I'll bring the cast of "He's Just Not That Into You" for good measure. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  20. Yup, that's why I posted this in Speaker's Corner. Truly sad. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  21. Dock Street, the pride of Philadelphia. A wide variety of locally brewed suds for beer snobs. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  22. from here Very important news to start the day, on the front page of Yahoo. I'm sure it's going to be all over the papers and news channels today and tomorrow, but thought I'd get this in the forums before someone else did. 23. So your analysis here suggests that this country is subject to undue influence from the Vatican because the church voiced its discontent with Pelosi's and Biden's positions on abortion. Unless what you wrote is meant to be satirical: Duh. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  24. "if it weren't for prop 8, this guy would be Mrs. Obama by now" Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  25. Having to speak to a 5000-person audience!!!? That would cause me more nerves and anxiety than anything else I can think of. (within reason of course) I would lose sleep over a speech like that too, which (is one of the many reasons) why I admire extroverts. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
