When did fascism actually take hold in the US?
masterblaster72 replied to cumplidor's topic in Speakers Corner
Saw this film a couple years back. The title is far more sensational than the content, and I don't think the title fits what the film is all about. If anything, its title gives people like nanook the ammo to immediately discredit the film without having watched it. I think the highlight of the film was when Aaron Russo politely and repeatedly asked the IRS official to show him what part of the US Constitution mandates an income tax...and the official just got angry and walked out of the interview. Also, being that Mr. Russo was a wealthy, very accomplished and intelligent man with not much of a history as a conspiracy theorist (as opposed to someone like Alex Jones, a man who makes a living as one), the film has heaps more credibility than something like Loose Change. It is worth a watch for any American regardless of political leanings, IMO. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
Obviously, you know enough Scripture to answer that question yourself. At this point in time, that is post resurrection, the only question Jesus could pose to the woman in your example is, "Why should I let you come into my Heaven?" However, I do believe that my first response, to pray for America, was also a correct one. Me cago en dios. First of all, [notice correct grammar, not First off] It's a Philly Cheese Steak. And they are delicious, btw. Flyers will have the Blackhawks for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and still have room for their cheese steak.

Problem is, Sweden's too goddamn cold. On the other hand, the Dutch Belgians have kick-ass chocolate, and the Germans have the best pretty good beer ever. And sometimes, we have hot summers swiss chocolate blows the shit out of belgium one, our beer is stronger than the german pisswater, plus, we have the alps.. cant beat the most beautiful country in the world! Damn straight...I love this country too. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Great post, and I agree with all of your points. America today is not the same country my parents immigrated to in the '60s...it's gone *way* downhill since, in good part for the reasons you stated above. Never did and never will -- I just don't have a big enough heart to even consider the possibility of supporting some other guy's kid. Not that there's anything wrong with it...just not my thing. If I were you I wouldn't find it difficult at all to cut things off if it's coming to that point. I'll be seeing them next month, along with Alice In Chains, Motorhead, Anthrax, etc...I'm psyched! Sonisphere Festival

Damn straight! On the brink of elimination for many games, then on the last game down 3-0 and a comeback to win 4-3. And away at that. Pure heart! This is the stuff dreams are made of. Go Flyers!! Sounds like the theme of a lot of chick-flicks. Truth is, most men go for attractive women, and most women go for men that can earn more than enough to feed a family. Nature designed us that way, so in my opinion a man can't be blamed for going for an attractive woman if he can deliver the goods that a woman looks for, no more than a woman can be blamed for desiring a 'financially stable' or even a wealthy man if she's attractive enough to get one. But of course, yes, personality and compatibility do count. To the OP, I've been there myself -- I feel for you. Probably the worst episode of depression I went through in my life was after a breakup around end of 2006. I remember I posted a thread quite similar to this one around that time, and in retrospect the best response was from lawrocket, who said that "only time would heal the wound." He was absolutely right...and now I have no regrets over what happened. Of course, the time in between the hurt and the healing is a bitch...but it's no lie that better days are ahead. Depression kept me from believing that at the time. Tough it out, jump your ass off (helped me a great deal), get back to doing things you like because wallowing in sad reflection doesn't fix anything. Also, don't put pressure on yourself to meet someone new so quickly -- dating can be a jading experience when you're in a rut, and in my case it made things worse at the time. Good luck dude. Your doses of common sense are far too infrequent here my friend. BTW, I'll always remember you as one of my teachers in this sport for the lessons you gave me at Crosskeys a while back. Thanks for your patience with me in my early days years ago...hope all is well with you these days. an ironic statement if you really believe that movement is about establishing a new political party, BTW I have to admit my ignorance on the subject because I just hear about the Tea Party and haven't read much about them. So to further your point, it's even more ironic given that I'm the one saying that people need to do more research. The most I've read about the Tea Party is on these forums, and I assumed that they're a political "party" from that word in their name. As long as Americans are glued to the television and not doing their homework by reading and researching to discern bullshit from reality, we may end up with yet another "third party" that has its collective head up its ass. Also, any third party that is getting this much media coverage should immediately be brought to question. Libertarians, for example, have been around for decades. Where has the coverage of that party been in mainstream media over that time, at least in contrast to this relatively new Tea Party? No shit. Can't jump here, but even worse, a friend from Philly was scheduled to visit me yesterday morning. He rescheduled for next week...and at this point that's looking like a no-go too. Can you actually see/feel/notice the ashes or is it more of a precaution? Having a hard time to really figure out how bad it is. The sky is hazy here today, but I don't think it's because of the ashes. Definitely no ashes on the ground that I've noticed. I think it's more of a precaution that the airlines are taking but they're losing so much $$ that I think they'll be back up in the air soon. I know that KLM and Lufthansa ran successful test flights and they're on a launching pad to get back in the air so as to stop the bleeding. You may want to try one of the ideas I've long had, which is to travel through Europe reflecting Hannibal's route from Spain to Rome 2000+ years ago. Start in Cartagena, Spain, then along the Spanish coast into southern France, up through the Rhone Valley in France into Switzerland, through sinuous passes in the Alps, then from northern Italy to southern Italy, visiting the battle sites of Trebia, Trasimene and Cannae along the way. I'll probably do it one day when I have the time...either by bike and/or by car. Why Are We Afraid of Saying "Socialism"?

Right, and those who cite Fox and NewsMax say the same exact thing. Discerning objective fact from bullshit takes a bit more work than cutting and pasting an article or editorial that favors your opinion. Don't expect to be taken seriously if your only sources are commondreams.org and alternet.org. It's the same shit as the tools who cite Fox News and NewsMax as their sources: information cooked to the flavor of a certain agenda. Love that song, used to sing it when I'd walk to class in college. Wish they'd have put out more than only one album...what a fantastic band. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
I came to this dropzone to get current again after a six-month hiatus. The staff were more than accommodating and helped me get familiar with their facilities and the landing area. Though I was new to this dropzone, people went out of their way to introduce themselves and welcome me. Very friendly vibe at this dropzone, far more friendly than most dz's in the States. Their PAC 750 climbs to altitude quickly, and it seems like a plane made for jumpers. Spectacular view of the alps from altitude. Instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful, as are those in manifest and pretty much any fun jumper there. Restaurant serves up delicious food. Didn't stay for the end of the day, but I imagine the parties here are plenty fun too. Will definitely go back soon now that I'm current again, and I recommend this DZ to anyone visiting Switzerland -- it's well-worth the trip!
