Any comparison between Nazi Germany and modern-day Germany is lamer. Germany admits its faults from the past and has enacted legislation against forming any hate-based political groups. The Turkish population in Germany is the main subject of Merkel's speech. The Turkish government (which wants to become part of the EU), and the great majority of Turkish people, still deny their own genocide, and continue to antagonize Armenians to this day. That's far more intolerant than the Germany, which has allowed the Turkish community to grow in the last 50 years. So, you don't think it's appropriate to compare one leader of Germany and her views on ethnic/religious tolerance with another? Sure, we can take your historically founded suspicion into account for a comparison: Hitler and Merkel -- both leaders of Germany, and they're quite different. Germany 1932 and Germany 2010 are both instances of time in Germany's history. They're also quite different. Sorry, but you don't get to "win" by invoking "Godwin's Law" here. Not looking to win, just sharing my viewpoint...Nazi Germany and today's Germany are two completely different historical contexts with not much to compare.
