  1. HAHAHAHA...wait, you're serious...ummm, yeah, so I'll just go w/ what Mark said.
  2. One sentence describes the American presidency (just replace "pandemic" w/ whatever you want).
  3. I read about this in a few articles. It was all going on because of the UN economic sanctions on Iraq. Saddam was being "forced" by the UN to spend $X on supporting the welfare of his people. But he had other plans, i.e. funneling the money to offshore accounts for personal use, like any good dictator would do. I don't have the time right now to go digging for the figures, but it's out there. I can post them here when I get some time. Remind me. 40 mass graves have been found in Iraq. "We believe that there are 300,000 dead -- and that's the lower end of the estimates. Others, including some Iraqis, place the total number of Iraqis executed in the Husseing era closer to 500,000." - Sandra Hodgkinson, Director of Human Rights in the CPA Office of Human Rights and Transitional Justice. So there weren't ANY human rights issues at all that could have possibly been a factor to go to war? Polls - Every poll you'll see, the Iraqi people OVERWHELMINGLY want democracy. Some figures: 87% believe right to free and fair elections is very important. 90% believe people should abide by law and criminals are punished is very important. 73% believe right to criticize the government is very important. The Iraqis, just like the American people, are growing tired of a war that none of them realize is impossible to fight in a matter of months (depsite what the administration said...yes, they were idiots for saying stuff along those lines). The Iraqi public overwhelmingly supported the US-led coalition through 2004. They have recently grown tired and now think the US should leave, but at the same time still have a the same high demand for democracy. They STILL want something badly that at this time CANNOT happen w/o US presence. How do you deduce that Iraq will have a radical theocracy led by a lunatic that all the people will despise, but do nothing about (at least yet)? And "at best" nonetheless? Explain your reasoning for that one. Of course Iraq isn't the only place, but it's a damn good place to start considering the growing strength and threat of the radical Islamist movement. Thus, you need to pit strength against that movement, which stems from the Middle East. Listened to the people who have no idea what they're talking about? My friend, please explain how this war was just for oil? How much oil do we get from the Middle East? (You can look at my previous post). How much have we increased our oil intake from the Middle East since going into Iraq? (I'll give you a hint...it's 0). Thirdly, if this was all for oil, then why am I still paying almost $3/gallon? A giant conspiracy you'll say...of course, why didn't I think of that!
  4. Damn that video is insane. That guy missed that building by what looked like a few feet, not to mention the whole pulling his reserve really damn low. Geez...
  5. Yeah, no shit. So it's totally free? What all does "free" entail?
  6. 1. Saddam was dishing out millions to fund WMD research, terrorist organizations, etc. True, no direct link to OBL, but where his money goes after being routed through 10 foreign bank accounts, including Swiss and Caymans...hmm. This also plays into the idea that fighting terrorism and its support on foreign soil is much better than fighting it at home. 2. Humanitarian reasons. He was killing off his people, either by torture, plain old murder, or simply running such a corrupt system that people just couldn't keep their lives going. 3. Attempt to establish a democratic state in a region where fundamental Islam is rising (i.e. Iran). Having a stable, democratic state in the region would provide some strength against such a large uprising of a radical Islamic nation (which many want to happen in the greater Middle East). 4. Possibly preserve and make better oil ties in the Middle East (since Saudi is crapping out). However, this is a distant objective considering we have not done anything w/ the oil, as we only get somewhere aroudn 8% of our total oil from the Middle East. And no, I see nothing wrong in having motives to do with energy. Our troops are fighting for the above, whether they view it that way or not. All four in my opinion are justified and legal. I do believe we need to start pulling out slowly and handing the security situation over more and more to the Iraqi military/police, but whether you think we're there for good or bad, we're in it now and we have to stick it out, finishing what we started. It's completely out of line to say our troops are dying for no reason. They have a reason, they have a cause, and even though some of you may hate Bush, don't disrespect the men and women in the military by saying that they're dying for nothing. That takes disrespect to an entirely different level.
  7. Exactly...but how well is that working throughout the world?
  8. LMAO...that's fucking hilarious.....until it happens to you.
  9. masterblaster has it right on. There's plenty of evidence to prove that Islam is an inheritantly intolerant and violent religion. Now, thank God (or Allah) that million of Muslims are good, decent people who do tollerate and don't condone violence. However, they are still not a reason to try and say that Islam is not, at the base, an intolerant and violent religion. Unfortunatley the group that follows those two sectors of Islam is growing rapidly out of control. How do we stop it?
  10. I haven't seen the movie, so tell me if I'm wrong, but from the previews it seems that Cage is an arms dealer, correct? So, him selling arms to militants who then slaughter a village w/ those weapons has nothing to do with the US govt. The US govt can't control what an arms dealer does (practically). So unless the movie portrays US govt officials selling arms to rebels, then no, the US cannot be blamed for stuff like this.
  11. Ridiculous and sickening all at the same time. Edit: Now that you've changed it...yeah that's real dick to just party while some poor guy's body is laying in a field. At least have the decency to hold it off until after the body is found, taken away, etc.
  12. Bill has it right on....there's no magic or easy way people! Exercise and diet/amount of intake can and will work if done properly and strictly adhered to.
  13. Wrong, we did not give him WMDs saying, "hey he'll kill thousands of his own people with these. Lets do it!" We gave him WMDs saying, "good, he can stop Iran with these."
  14. I'm not trying to fool anyone. I blatantly said we provided weapons to him. It supported our needs at the time. He did use it against enemies, he just kept some and used it against innocent people later on (his own)...horrible, but not something we could have known about w/o looking into the future.
  15. Yeah, apparently it was GWB himself who supported Saddam in the 70s/80s.
  16. Anyone want to provide some numbers on how many news articles, editorials, 60 minutes, etc. was presented on Clinton's failures vs how many are presented on Bush's failures? I'd like to see.
  17. There's NUMBER ONE! Sure the other things you listed definitely do have an affect, but the one above is by far the most potent one of them all. I blame this one far more than I do the others. Wmw makes a good point. I understand that some people just can't keep weight off as easier as others. However, there is just no excuse for someone who is say 70+ lbs overweight. Anyone with proper restraint and adherance to diet/exercise program can be much less than that, no matter how hard it is for you to keep off weight.
  18. Saddam Hussein made himself. We supported him back in the day because it supported us...made sense. No one could see into the future. So in a way maybe we helped him along to do horrible things, but it was not our intention and it was not in the slightest possible to avoid w/o being able to tell the future. So I think people who say we created the monster and started all this are not looking at the whole picture.
  19. ***Islam and Christianity both teach peace*** I looked into some versus out of the Qaran.... 2:244 - Kill in God's sake, and know that God is listening Hmmm, well it's telling to kill in the name of God...not too peaceful if you ask me. 9:29 - Kill those who do not believe with God and nor Resurrection Day Again, if you don't believe in God like the Qaran says, every Muslim has a duty to kill you. 47:4 - If you encounter those who have rejected, then strike their formations until you overcome them Wage war against the enemy if they don't see it your way. 9:5 - You may kill those who have set up partners wherever you find them, and take them, and surround them, and stand against them at every point. If they repent, and hold the contact-method, and contribute towards betterment, then you shall leave them alone. Go and kill those who are going against what is set forth. But if they repent, then let them go. Point being, the Qaran preaches violence. It blatantly says kill those who do not believe, who do not follow, etc. Of course millions of Muslims do not follow this. However, Jihadist use this as reasoning. I agree that the problems Indonesia face are multi-faceted, but at on at least a micro scale, there is a blatant violence problem stemming from some factions of Islam.
  20. Who really cares what Canada does (from a US perspective anyways)? If you guys are happy w/ gun control laws, fine. I don't live there, I don't care. But as far as the US goes, I will damn well have my guns!
  21. Seems to make a lot of sense to me. And no, I'm not saying this does not apply to the Republican party or any other party. Point is, every minority party will do anything to take control and will do their best to make everything look terrible about the other party, and will see the other party as driving the country horribly wrong. This is nothing new.
  22. Interesting, I didn't know that. But how many "permanent" fat cells can be produced? I'd be willing to be it's not possible to produce "permanent" fat cells in this manner that would 100% make it impossible for someone to be less than 20 lbs overweight.
  23. Of course they're influences. Of course there's a lot of influence to do drugs, murder, steal, lie, cheat...all influences. Good thing I make a personal choice to not submit to those influences and let them dictate how I live. If they're working hard at having a proper diet and exercise plan, they're sticking with it, and it's not doing anything....then yeah, those people aren't lazy and at least they're trying...but they're also about .00005% of the population. Because a proper diet and exercise program WILL help people lose weight; some more than others, but it WILL do something. The people who are working hard at the "wrong things," such as Slim Fast and that's it...no they're just to lazy/stuck in their routine to work at a good diet/exercise plan.
