  1. Yeah, doesn't make sense to allow criminals to run around with guns unopposed by cops with sticks. What's the rationale behind unarmed cops? Seriously, I want to hear a good reason as to why a cop should carry a club why the bad guys carry firearms. Is there a big, hilarious joke in Britain about severely disadvantaging the police? Enlighten me.
  2. Either there was severe underground pressure or they're just complete idiots. It makes since to be the kid w/ the bigger stick on the block. What did they gain from it? I don't see US, France, Germany, India, etc. following. Therefore, it was a bad move to get rid of the ability (from their POV), unless there was pressure, inability to afford the program, etc.
  3. Terrorists have a NATION of origion, not a STATE of origion. Big difference. Al Qaeda has no STATE affiliation, just multiple states it acts within. No single state govt takes responsibliity and fully supports a terrorist organization. Yes the Taliban was somewhat of an irregularity, but it also wasn't the same type of group as Al Qaeda...they were a bunch of mafia-style guys running a corrupt govt for profit. They weren't as much the run into a building a blow yourself up kind of guys (not saying it didn't happen, just not even close to the same level as AQ). So many times the world has come close to nuclear devestation, so many times it has been avoided through rational thought processes. This will continue. (more of a reply to Sudsy on that one).
  4. I don't think you understood what I said...nukes are useless against terrorist orgs b/c they don't belong to any state, reside in specific cities, etc. There's no distinct local to target when it comes to fighting terrorists. Therefore, nukes are useless in the war on terror.
  5. Your nice little 3 step process is incredibly naive. It takes more than a presidential order and congressional approval. There's a chain of numerous individuals who must confirm intel, confirm this is the course of action required, etc. It's not a "snap of the finger" system and the President gets his way. Plus nukes are useless against terrorism, which everyone, including Bush, realizes. If there was intel of an imminent bio attack...well it'd be from some terrorist org and therefore there'd be no city, state, etc. to target and launch on. Those days are over for the time being. Incredibly wrong. Yes we nuked Japan to end the war, but it was done to save an estimated million American soldiers from a country who'd already lost countless numbers fighting since 1941 in Europe and the Pacific. Not to mention the Japanese brought it completey on themselves and quite frankly, deserved it. Bottom line in war - Us or them. I choose them to die. I don't feel one bit bad about us using nukes against them, better them then my grandpa or any other Americans.
  6. You didn't read all my posts. I'm not saying get rid of LOAC, I'm just saying it's stupid to be bound by dumb rules such as no use of HP ammo when these guys are running around blowing themselves up and sawing heads off. It's pretty ridiculous. Umm...yeah, he gassed his own people...I never said anything about WP. Maybe WP was included in the list. But, it also depends on how you use it. We use it for illumination and marking, Saddam may have just been dousing people in WP. Completely different context.
  7. Even if Bush went completely insane and literally ordered the firing of nukes on a country based on "God's will," it wouldn't happen. Because of our system, it's impossible to launch nukes w/o several levels of consent, no matter what the guy in the WH thinks. So yeah, nukes are leaps and bounds safer in the US then in almost every other country.
  8. Once...twice if you include this. But, yeah, he's not dead...fucking cockroach.
  9. Ha, alright Gawain...I'll leave you a few buildings to lay some cover fire into...sound good?
  10. First of all, skydvr hit the nail on the head. But just to humor you, no, we would not just start by throwing 200,000 soldiers on the beach and let them have at it. If we actually attacked China, which will not happen, but if we did, there'd be such a naval and aerial bombardment beforehand that there wouldn't be this massive Chinese Army ready to meet our Marines at the beach. China would be fucked from the air and sea long before the groundpounders would set foot on Chinese shores. You fuckin right I'm loud! This job ain't for pussies!
  11. True, but that only works if the Iraqi police stop sucking so horribly and give a shit about what they're doing. I know there are a lot that do care and want to help, but the majority do it because it's a job that pays. If they cared more about saving their country and less about making money, then the Iraqi police would be worth something.
  12. Yes, it's already happening. China is already venturing down a road to possible conflict w/ the US...I say possible b/c it might implode before reaching that point, or back down.
  13. No, I understand and agree. I'm just saying BS LOAC rules such as, can't use HP ammunition, but you can slam a JDAM into someone. If these guys run around chopping heads off, we ought to be able to use HP ammo.
  14. It could be a copper bullet...maybe.
  15. Oh god, I think I would probably die if all my wife could cook is potatoes. I can do some stuff decently, since she forced me to learn some things, but nothing crazy. I think she can make pretty much anything and everything she makes is awesome! Let's give a warm salute to blonde chicks who also cook really damn well!
  16. That's the sole key to the US withdrawing from Iraq. If the population, outside of the Iraqi police/military, start just assasinating these fuckers, bombing their hideouts, etc, then we can start withdrawing and after a while maybe the terrorists will too (depending on the effectiveness of the civilian campaign against them). Underground groups is what's needed in Iraq.
  17. Of course, there isn't motivation right now for a war with China. You are correct, we have a ton invested in them, why would we want to fuck that over? We don't, but war with China is a growing possibility because of what they are doing, not what we're doing. If they become more aggressive and start trying to take over territories, for example, then we would have to stop them not only to help those who can't help themselves, but to stop China from expanding into a world hegemon (self survival).
  18. Ok, even though you called me a loud ass and a stupid ass, I'll remain from the name calling and just shut down everything you said with fact, ok? The numbers "argument"...China's military figures depend on "draft" figures. When China says they'll have millions fighting, they count on drafting a good chunk of those millions from the civilian population. They are a "civilian military," meaning that everyone has compulsory service. For starters, I'm in shape, far from lazy and not at all what I would consider wealthy (in monetary measurements anyways). China has seen unprecedented amounts of riots and protests in recent history. If the US fought China, or any country fought China for that matter, China would call on millions of citizen-soldiers, which probably somewhere around 80% would tell China to shove it. China is coming closer to the brink of implosion because the people are so sick of how the country is run. They don't support the state now, they won't support it in war, especially when it means dying for a cause they hate (i.e. the state). Oh, and marching 2 million soldiers at the US military who have shot a gun maybe twice in their life...yeah, that will bode well for their life expectancy. China stands 0% chance of attacking the US w/ the exception of nukes. Yes they can nuke our western coast, no they do not have the means to land an invasion force or even launch a conventional air attack. Their equipment is vastly substandard to US equipment, in addition to our superiority in training and ability. Their only means of transporting troops are with boats (don't have too many cargo aircraft, especially for troop airdrop). Boats would be destroyed by the US military before China could even get them half way to Taiwan. And don't even try to argue that the Chinese Air Force could protect them...what a joke. Ah yes, the age old game that accurately depicts world events with every move! See above regarding them destroying our military. China vastly depends on US economic trade. Thus far in 2005, we've imported $176,139,000,000 from China (projected to be around $200 billion). Are you actually saying that China wouldn't mind losing that kind of money in trade revenue? It would be a tremendous blow to China's economy if it were to lose US trade. In essence, they'd be completely screwed. Bottom line...yes we'd take loses fighting China, no they would be nothing even remotely close to "destroyed US military." They may put up more of a fight than some other countries, but we're talking about The White Sox playing a T-ball team of 5 yr olds. They're out-gunned, out-trained, out-skilled...oh, and the T-ball team has 500 players...we'll give the White Sox 7 (take away the Short Stop and Center Fielder for shits and giggles). Yep, numbers will matter a whole lot in that one.
  19. I have no problem supporting rule of law in Iraq, I just hate some of the BS LOAC rules and the fact that we follow them and no one we fight ever does (since WWII). The "Gentleman's War" is extinct, it's about time the Western world realizes that.
  20. Because people are idiots, especially ones who just got their first gun and know nothing. Those are the guys I just stay away from.
  21. Yeah, and then there will be more additions to some of the already fucking ridiculous LOAC rules. They're not fighting by a single rule, why should we?...fucking politicians.
  22. Yep, the guy's a complete idiot and loose cannon. However, not a threat to the US, right now anyways.
  23. Agreed. We have three bases in Japan, what makes you think we're going to destroy our ability to have those at our disposal when we get into a shooting match with China? Anyways, the next Asian war will be with China most likely...I can't wait for that one.
  24. The US govt has actually bought several lots of Soviet arms just so we could keep them out of terrorist's hands. The arms security in Russia is practically non-existent, so it's very hard to fight this. We're doing as much as possible to gather intel on loose weapons and hopefully finding them, but this is, in reality, the epitome of "needle in a haystack."
